Zhuang, Bo,Lv, Deng-Kun,Gao, Si-Ju,Meng, Jing-Jing Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.23
Objective: To investigate the differential features of CT images in children with neuroblastomas (N) and ganglioneuroblastomas (G). Materials and Methods: Clinical data of 12 children in group G and 15 in group N undergoing CT examination and definitely diagnosed by pathology were retrospectively analyzed. The focal conditions were observed and compared in the two groups, including location, size, boundaries, morphology, enhanced degree and mode, abdominal vascular involvement, presence or absence of spanning the midline, infiltration of peripheral organs, angiography manifestations in tumors or surroundings, presence or absence of calcification and vascular tumor emboli as well as metastases of distal organs and lymph nodes. Results: In group N, the incidence of tumors in the adrenal area was conspicuously higher than in group G (P<0.05), while that of tumors with regular morphology and clear boundaries was significantly lower than in group G (P<0.01); Angiography manifestation rate and incidences of vascular embedding, lymph node metastasis, infiltration and organic metastasis in group N were all markedly higher than in group G (P<0.05). There was no statistical significance between the two groups in terms of focal size, presence or absence of calcification and spanning the midline, and enhanced degree and mode, as well as vascular tumor emboli (P>0.05). Conclusions: Mostly located in adrenal areas and with vascular embedding as a primary manifestation, the neuroblastoma extremely readily metastases to lymph nodes and other organs as well as infiltrating local tissues, with dilation on angiography frequent in or around the tumors. With vascular displacement as a primary manifestation, ganglioneuroblastoma has a regular morphology and clear boundaries.

This paper considers the topic of the observer-based non-fragile mixed passivity and H∞ state feedback control for time-varying delay and norm-bounded parameter uncertainties fuzzy stochastic Markovian jump system subject to quantized measurements. The aim of this paper is to provide a suitable observer-based non-fragile state feedback controller to enhance stochastic stabilization of the closed-loop system and satisfy mixed passivity and H∞ performance. By constructing mode-dependent Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, novel conditions are achieved in virtue of linear matrix inequalities. Two examples including truck-trailer model are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the developed method.

The reinforced concrete piles (RC) in integral abutment bridges (IABs) are challenging to meet the longitudinal deformation of bridges with significant lateral stiffness. The H-shaped steel (HS) piles are costly and prone to corrosion. This paper proposes a new form of pile comprised of HS and RC piles in series to meet the longitudinal deformation demand of IABs. Tests were conducted for one HS pile under reciprocating low-cycle pseudo-static test and two HS-RC stepped piles with different bending stiffness ratios of HS/RC (0.25 and 0.5) using the HS-RC pile test model,. The influence of the stiffness ratio on the mechanical behavior of stepped pile-soil was studied. The mechanical behavior of the stepped pile was also compared with single HS and RC piles. and the applicability of the m and p-y curve methods to the calculation of horizontal displacement of stepped pile is discussed. The results show that the elastic deformation range of the HS pile is 2 mm to 25 mm, and its horizontal deformation capacity and bearing capacity are excellent. As the stiffness ratio increases, the stepped pile-soil system's yield displacement and yield load increased. The stiffness ratio has no significant effect on the failure mode of the piles. The hysteretic ring of the stepped pile shows a squeezing shape at the initial loading stage, but becomes a full spindle in the later loading stage. The stepped pile shows an excellent energy consumption effect and a horizontal deformation ability, indicating it is suitable for IABs. The m method has better accuracy only up to 2 mm displacement, while the p-y curve method still has higher accuracy within 15 mm.

Information diffusion in online social network especially in microblog system, can largely affect the public opinion and even the development of events, so the prediction of the future dynamics of diffusion could be very valuable at many aspects. In this research, a novel graph-based cascades construct algorithm is proposed, with which we build a prediction model for future information diffusion dynamics. By learning user influence features that related with the network topology and users’ interactions from a large scale real Weibo dataset, we successfully predicted the short term topic related tweets population dynamics.

OK-432, a Streptococcus-derived anticancer immunotherapeutic agent, has been applied in clinic for many years and achieved great progress in various cancers. In the present study, we investigated its anticancer effect on bladder cancer through tumor associated macrophages (TAMs). MTS assay validated OK-432 could inhibit proliferation in both T24 and EJ bladder cell lines. OK-432 also induced apoptosis of bladder cancer cells in vitro. Consequently, we demonstrated that OK-432 could suppress the bladder cancer cells migration and invasion by altering the EMT-related factors. Furthermore, using SD rat model, we revealed that OK-432 inhibited tumor growth, suppressed PCNA expression and inhibited metastasis in vivo. Taken together, these findings strongly suggest that OK-432 inhibits cell proliferation and metastasis through inducing macrophages to secret cytokines in bladder cancer.

Insect glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) play a crucial role in the detoxification of exogenous compounds, especially insecticides and plant allelochemicals. A sigma class GST gene, TcGSTS7, mediates the response to eugenol in Tribolium castaneum. However, the mechanism underlying this effect remains largely unknown. In this study, TcGSTS7, which exhibits a structural motif and domain organization characteristic of GSTs, was cloned from the T. castaneum genome. Spatiotemporal expression analysis revealed that TcGSTS7 was most highly expressed at the late larva stage and was mainly expressed in the fat body and epidermis of larvae and adults, suggesting that TcGSTS7 may play a potential role in the protection against toxic xenobiotics in T. castaneum. Furthermore, the expression of TcGSTS7 was significantly induced after exposure to eugenol, while RNA inter ference (RNAi) targeting TcGSTS7 enhanced the sensitivity of the beetle to eugenol, indicating that TcGSTS7 is involved in the tolerance of T. castaneum to this insecticide. Interestingly, the depletion of TcCncC, which encodes a transcription factor of the CncC pathway that has been associated with the regulation of detoxification-related genes in insects, led to a reduction in the TcGSTS7 transcript level following exposure to eugenol, which suggests that TcGSTS7 acts downstream of the CncC pathway. Combined, these results indicated that TcGSTS7 partici pates in the tolerance of T. castaneum to phytochemicals in a CncC pathway-dependent manner. These findings have implications for the development of novel drugs for use in pest control.

The space reactor is the primary energy supply for future space vehicles and space stations. The radiator is one of the essential parts of a space reactor. Therefore, the research on radiators can improve the heat dissipation power, reduce the quality of radiators, and make the space reactor smaller. Based on MOOSE multi-physics numerical calculation platform, a simulation program for the combination of heat pipe and fin at the end of heat pipe radiator is developed. It is verified that the calculation result of this program is accurate and the calculation speed is fast. Analyze the heat transfer characteristics of the combination with heat pipe and fin, and obtain its internal temperature field. Based on the calculation results, the influence of structural parameters on the heat dissipation power is analyzed. The results show that when the fin width is 0.25 m, fin thickness is 0.002 m, condensing section length is 0.5425 m and heat pipe radius is 0.014 m, the power-mass ratio is the highest. When the temperature is 700Ke900K, the heat dissipation power increases 41.12% for every 100K increase in the operating temperature. Smaller fin width and thinner fin thickness can improve the power-mass ratio and reduce the radiator quality.

Purpose: Tau is a microtubule-associated protein that can be found in both normal and abnormal breast cells. Whether the expression of Tau protein can predict the response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) is still unclear. In this study, we assessed the role of Tau protein expression in predicting a pathological complete response (pCR) to NACT for different subtypes of breast cancer. Methods: Four hundred and sixty-eight eligible patients were retrospectively recruited in our study. The relationship between clinicopathologic factors, including Tau protein expression, and pCR in different subtypes was evaluated using logistic regression analysis. Correlation between Tau and disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) was performed using Kaplan–Meier analysis. Results: The expression of Tau protein was negatively correlated with pCR, especially in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). No significant difference was observed in the luminal human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER2)-negative subtype and HER2-positive subtype. Patients with pCR were associated with better DFS and OS (p < 0.05). However, Tau protein expression had no association with either DFS or OS (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Tau protein expression can predict pCR before NACT in TNBC, but there was no correlation between Tau expression and DFS or OS.
