DTN Routing with Back-Pressure based Replica Distribution

Jiao, Zhenzhen,Tian, Rui,Zhang, Baoxian,Li, Cheng The Korea Institute of Information and Commucation 2014 Journal of communications and networks Vol.16 No.4

Replication routing can greatly improve the data delivery performance by enabling multiple replicas of the same packet to be transmitted towards its destination simultaneously. It has been studied extensively recently and is now a widely accepted routing paradigm in delay tolerant networks (DTNs). However, in this field, the issue of how to maximize the utilization efficiency of limited replication quota in a resource-saving manner and therefore making replication routing to be more efficient in networks with limited resources has not received enough attention. In this paper, we propose a DTN routing protocol with back-pressure based replica distribution. Our protocol models the replica distribution problem from a resource allocation perspective and it utilizes the idea of back-pressure algorithm, which can be used for providing efficient network resource allocation for replication quota assignment among encountered nodes. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed protocol significantly outperforms existing replication routing protocols in terms of packet delay and delivery ratio.

A Virtual-Queue based Backpressure Scheduling Algorithm for Heterogeneous Multi-Hop Wireless Networks

( Zhenzhen Jiao ),( Baoxian Zhang ),( Jun Zheng ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2015 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.9 No.12

Backpressure based scheduling has been considered as a promising technique for improving the throughput of a wide range of communication networks. However, this scheduling technique has not been well studied for heterogeneous wireless networks. In this paper, we propose a virtual-queue based backpressure scheduling (VQB) algorithm for heterogeneous multi-hop wireless networks. The VQB algorithm introduces a simple virtual queue for each flow at a node for backpressure scheduling, whose length depends on the cache size of the node. When calculating flow weights and making scheduling decisions, the length of a virtual queue is used instead of the length of a real queue. We theoretically prove that VQB is throughput-optimal. Simulation results show that the VQB algorithm significantly outperforms a classical backpressure scheduling algorithm in heterogeneous multi-hop wireless networks in terms of the packet delivery ratio, packet delivery time, and average sum of the queue lengths of all nodes per timeslot.

The antioxidant mechanism of exopolysaccharides’ synthesis from Agaricus bitorquis (Quél.) Sacc. Chaidam under the influence of Lycium ruthenicum Murr. anthocyanin extract

        Deng Yingying,Jiao Yingchun,Yuan Zhenzhen 한국고분자학회 2023 Macromolecular Research Vol.31 No.10

Agaricus bitorguis (Quél.) Sacc. Chaidam is a rare wild edible macro-fungus that grows underground at high altitudes. In this study, the mechanism of exopolysaccharide synthesis (secretion) was studied with the help of changes in the antioxidant metabolism of mycelial cells, by adding Lycium ruthenicum Murr. (black wolfberry) anthocyanins (LRA). Lycium ruthenicum Murr. significantly affect the molar ratio and apparent structure of monosaccharides, antioxidant channels, polysaccharide synthesis, and the growth of Agaricus bitorguis (Quél.) Sacc. Chaidam. We observed that the upregulation of the flavonoid/isoflavone anabolic pathway was linearly correlated to the levels of antioxidants, such as quercetin and daidzein. Overexpression of cytochrome metabolism P450 in the xenobiotic pathway decreased the content of toxic components, such as benzopyrene and aflatoxin. Lycium ruthenicum Murr. improved the oxidative environment and the antioxidant activity in the cells, effectively reduced oxidative damage in the process of cell growth and polysaccharide synthesis, and accelerated polysaccharide synthesis. In addition, the antioxidant channels of mycelial cells, such as the content of ROS, MDA, and the activity of PPO decreased rapidly, and the activities of CAT, SOD, and POD enzymes significantly increased. The decreased and increased expression of these proteins corresponded to the peak period of bacterial biomass and polysaccharide yield (72 h). This indicated that Lycium ruthenicum Murr. could significantly improve the antioxidants in the mycelial cells, increasing the production of biomass and polysaccharides.

Effect of Restricted Grazing Time on the Foraging Behavior and Movement of Tan Sheep Grazed on Desert Steppe

        Chen, Yong,Luo, Hailing,Liu, Xueliang,Wang, Zhenzhen,Zhang, Yuwei,Liu, Kun,Jiao, Lijuan,Chang, Yanfei,Zuo, Zhaoyun Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2013 Animal Bioscience Vol.26 No.5

To investigate the effect of restricted grazing time on behavior of Tan sheep on desert steppe, forty 4-months old male Tan sheep with an original body weight (BW) of $15.62{\pm}0.33$ kg were randomly allocated to 4 grazing groups which corresponded to 4 different restricted grazing time treatments of 2 h/d (G2), 4 h/d (G4), 8 h/d (G8) and 12 h/d (G12) access to pasture. The restricted grazing times had a significant impact on intake time, resting time, ruminating time, bite rate and movement. As the grazing time decreased, the proportion of time spent on intake, bite rate and grazing velocity significantly (p<0.05) increased, but resting and ruminating time clearly (p<0.05) decreased. The grazing months mainly depicted effect on intake time and grazing velocity. In conclusion, by varying their foraging behavior, Tan sheep could improve grazing efficiency to adapt well to the time-limited grazing circumstance.
