        ASESDP : An Efficient Service Discovery Protocol in Pervasive Computing Environments

        Service discovery is the technology of finding needed services in networks, and a key point in pervasive computing environments. This paper presents a novel service discovery protocol: ASESDP(AIP and SRR Enhanced Service Discovery Protocol). In ASESDP, tow schemes are proposed to enhance its performance: AIP(Advertisement Information Piggybacked) and SRR(Shortest Reply Route). In AIP, parts of advertisement information are piggybacked in the service reply packet, which makes the advertisement information propagating along the reply path, and spreads its transmission area. In SRR, in order to reduce the service response time, the shortest reply route is chosen to forward the service reply packet to the source node sending the service request. With the theoretical analysis and Glomosim simulation results, it is verified that ASESDP can reduce the number of service request packets, save the response time, and improve the efficiency of service discovery.

        Nonlinear Quality Indices Based on a Novel Lempel-Ziv Complexity for Assessing Quality of Multi-Lead ECGs Collected in Real Time

        We compared a novel encoding LempelZiv complexity (ELZC) with three common complexity algorithmsi.e., approximate entropy (ApEn), sample entropy (SampEn), and classic LempelZiv complexity (CLZC) soas to determine a satisfied complexity and its corresponding quality indices for assessing quality of multileadelectrocardiogram (ECG). First, we calculated the aforementioned algorithms on six artificial time series inorder to compare their performance in terms of discerning randomness and the inherent irregularity within timeseries. Then, for analyzing sensitivity of the algorithms to content level of different noises within the ECG, weinvestigated their change trend in five artificial synthetic noisy ECGs containing different noises at severalsignal noise ratios. Finally, three quality indices based on the ELZC of the multilead ECG were proposed toassess the quality of 862 real 12lead ECGs from the MIT databases. The results showed the ELZC coulddiscern randomness and the inherent irregularity within six artificial time series, and also reflect content levelof different noises within five artificial synthetic ECGs. The results indicated the AUCs of three quality indicesof the ELZC had statistical significance (>0.500). The ELZC and its corresponding three indices were moresuitable for multilead ECG quality assessment than the other three algorithms.

        Alterations in protein and amino acid metabolism in honeybees (Apis mellifera) fed different L-leucine diets during the larval stage

        L-Leucine is an important factor for growth and development in animals. However, very little is known about the nutritional role and physiological function of L-leucine in honeybees. In this study,we determined the effects of Lleucine supplementation on protein synthesis and amino acid balance in honeybee larvae. First instar larvaewere fed different L-leucine diets (6.45, 8.45 and 10.45 mg/g) during the entire larval stage. After the larvae egested urate crystals, we analyzed the protein and amino acid metabolism indexes in the larvae. There was little effect of L-leucine on larval body weight and body protein content, but the hemolymph protein concentrations were higher in 8.45 and 10.45 mg/g groups than 6.45 mg/g group. Compared to the 6.45 mg/g group, L-leucine significantly increased the contents of Ala, Leu, Lys and Met in 8.45 mg/g group and continued to be increased in 10.45 mg/g group. L-Leucine affected many TOR signaling pathway- and L-leucine metabolism-related genes, including tor, 4Ebp1, bcaat et al. Moreover, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), creatine kinase (CK) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activities as well as the triglycerides (TG), total cholesterol (TCHO), uric acid (UA) and urea nitrogen (URER) contents in haemolymph were significantly different among treatments. These results suggested that many factors involved in the metabolism of L-leucine and larval hemolymph play important roles in honeybee protein synthesis and amino acid balance.
