<P> Surface modification of ITO with polythiophene derivative, poly(3-TUTS), was done for molecular electronic device application purpose. In order to prepare a derivative of polythiophene having n-alkyltrichlorosilane at 3-position of the thiophene ring, the monomer of thienyl-functionalized n-alkyltrichlorosilane, 11-(3-thienyl)undecyltrichlorosilane (3TUTS), was synthesized. The monomer was identified by using NMR, UV/VIS spectroscopic methods. Surfaces of ITO substrates were modified with the synthesized 3TUTS to get SAM on them. Polymerization of the SAM was done by dipping this SAM into FeCl3 solution. The polymer have been identified by using Cyclic Voltammetry, UV/VIS spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), DFM (Dynamic Force Microscopy) image analysis.</P>

This paper proposes a design method to determine the specifications of the powertrain components (including the traction motors, the engine, the generator, the battery, the reduction gears) of the high mobility series hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) according to the vehicle required performances. The powertrain of the target series HEV consists of an internal combustion engine, a generator, a battery system, and two traction motors at the front and rear axles. The peak powers of traction motors are calculated based on the acceleration requirements and grade ability. The size of the engine and the generator are calculated to meet tow ability, and the size of the battery system is determined by silent driving requirement and grade ability. Reduction gear ratio of the traction motors are calculated according to the maximum cruise speed ability. The simulation model is developed by using the Cruise<SUP>®</SUP> and the simulation results show that determined powertrain specifications satisfy the required performances.
Surgical Management of Coronary Artery Fistulas in Children

Background: This study investigated the surgical outcomes associated with coronary artery fistulas (CAFs) in children. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 23 pediatric patients who underwent surgical closure of CAFs between 1995 and 2021. At presentation, 7 patients (30.4%) exhibited symptoms. Associated cardiac anomalies were present in 8 patients. Fourteen fistulas originated from the right coronary artery and 9 from the left. The most common drainage site was the right ventricle, followed by the right atrium and the left ventricle. The median follow-up duration was 9.3 years (range, 0.1–25.6 years) Results: The median age and body weight at repair were 3.1 years (range, 0–13.4 years) and 14.4 kg (range, 3.1–42.2 kg), respectively. Cardiopulmonary bypass was used in 17 cases (73.9%), while cardioplegic arrest was employed in 14 (60.9%). Epicardial CAF ligation was utilized in 10 patients (43.5%), the transcoronary approach in 9 (39.1%), the endocardial approach in 2 (8.7%), and other methods in 2 patients (8.7%). The application of cardioplegic arrest during repair did not significantly impact the duration of postoperative intensive care unit stay or overall hospital stay. One in-hospital death and 1 late death were recorded. The overall survival rate was 95.7% at 10 years and 83.7% at 15 years. A residual fistula was detected in 1 patient. During the follow-up period, no surviving patient experienced cardiovascular symptoms or coronary events. Conclusion: Surgical repair of CAF can be performed safely with or without cardioplegic arrest, and it is associated with a favorable prognosis in children.

<P> Micro scale emitter array was fabricated with a conducting polymer. A simple and easy way of electrochemical template polymerization was utilized in this process. In this study the template membrane was fixed onto an ITO glass electrode by using conductive composite glue. Applying electrochemical potential to the template electrode in monomer electrolyte allowed polymerization of pyrrole within the pores and thus the micro structures were grown. Cyclic voltammetry, SEM and EDAX measurements were done to characterize this emitter array. The emission current measurements were done in 10-7 Torr condition and results show redox state dependence emission of the polymer electrodes.</P>

In Korea s medical tourism industry, the United States is the second largest country following China. In the case of American patients, the proportion of patients receiving severe treatment is higher than that of foreign patients of other nationalities. Many patients visit Korea to receive rehabilitation treatment in medical services such as cancer surgery, treatment, and transplant surgery, and relatively simple surgeries such as LASIK and rhinitis surgery are also found. Recently, the number of U.S. patients visiting Korea in connection with private insurance companies in the U.S. is increasing, and it seems that they are visiting Korea due to high medical expenses in the country. However, neighboring countries such as Canada, the UK, Costa Rica, as well as emerging medical tourism powers such as the UK, Spain, Israel, and Abu Dhabi are not yet prioritizing Korea as a medical tourist destination. When deciding a medical tourist destination, decisions are made based on medical expenses, language, distance, and price compared to domestic medical technology. In this regard, Previously, it was said that Korea provides efficient medical services at lower medical costs than high-tech, but recently, Korean medical services have been following U.S. medical services, requiring other strategies for U.S. patients to choose Korea. Accordingly, the aim is to come up with more effective solutions so that U.S. patients can visit Korea as travel destinations to revitalize medical tourism, additional services, and necessary tourism services
