Passive Entry and Passive Start (PEPS) system allows drivers to enter the vehicle and start the engine without activating key fob. With growing demand for location-based service and rapid development of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), BLE PEPS with localization service becomes a promising choice for next generation of PEPS. This paper studies the critical problem of localizing the vehicle for user based on BLE received signal strength (RSS) provided by preinstalled BLE Access Points (APs) inside vehicle. Multiple APs are employed to reduce the error caused by RSS fluctuation on distance estimation. Fusion algorithms including Extended Kalman Filter, Monte Carlo Localization and Iterative Trilateration are compared based on experiments in vehicle. Experimental results show that distance estimation based on Extended Kalman Filter gets high accuracy in both long distance and short distance scenario.

A new scheme for sliding-mode control (SMC) of DC-DC converters with a constant switching frequency is proposed. The scheme is based on the averaging model and the output signal of the controller is d? or d? instead of the on or off signal of a direct sliding-mode (SM) controller or the continuous signal d = ueq of an indirect SM controller. Two approaches using the new scheme are also proposed and the design procedures for a buck converter are given in detail. The first approach called constant d? and d? SMC is simple, cost effective and dynamically fast. In order to improve the dynamic characteristics of the reaching phase and to alleviate chattering, the second approach called reaching law SMC is also presented. Analyses and simulation results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed scheme.

A new scheme for sliding-mode control (SMC) of DC-DC converters with a constant switching frequency is proposed. The scheme is based on the averaging model and the output signal of the controller is $d^+$ or $d^-$ instead of the on or off signal of a direct sliding-mode (SM) controller or the continuous signal d = $u_{eq}$ of an indirect SM controller. Two approaches using the new scheme are also proposed and the design procedures for a buck converter are given in detail. The first approach called constant $d^+$ and $d^-$ SMC is simple, cost effective and dynamically fast. In order to improve the dynamic characteristics of the reaching phase and to alleviate chattering, the second approach called reaching law SMC is also presented. Curcumin derivatives have been shown to inhibitreplication of human infl uenza A viruses (IAVs). However, itis not clear whether curcumin and its derivatives can inhibitneuraminidase (NA) of influenza virus. In this study, ameaningful 3D quantitative structure–activity relationshipmodel (comparative molecular fi eld analysis R 2 = 0.997,q 2 = 0.527, s = 0.064, F = 282.663) was built to understandthe chemical–biological interactions between their activitiesand neuraminidase. Molecular docking was used to predictbinding models between curcumin derivatives and neuraminidase. Real-time polymerase chain reactions showed thatthe fi ve active curcumin derivatives might have direct eff ectson viral particle infectivity in H1N1-infected lung epithelial(MDCK) cells. Neuraminidase activation assay showed thatfi ve active curcumin derivatives decreased H1N1-inducedneuraminidase activation in MDCK cells. Indirect immunofluorescence assay indicated that two active curcuminderivatives (tetramethylcurcumin and curcumin) down-regulatedthe nucleoprotein expression. Curcumin inhibited IAVin vivo. The therapeutic mechanism of curcumin in the treatmentof infl uenza viral pneumonia is related to improvingthe immune function of infected mice and regulating secretionof tumor necrosis-α, interleukin-6, and interferon-γ. These results indicate that curcumin derivatives inhibit IAVby blocking neuraminidase in the cellular model and curcuminalso has anti-IAV activity in the animal model.

Recent research indicates that lactate promotes the switching of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) to a synthetic phenotype, which has been implicated in various vascular diseases. This study aimed to investigate the effects of lactate on the VSMC phenotype switch and the underlying mechanism. The CCK-8 method was used to assess cell viability. The microRNAs and mRNAs levels were evaluated using quantitative PCR. Targets of microRNA were predicted using online tools and confirmed using a luciferase reporter assay. We found that lactate promoted the switch of VSMCs to a synthetic phenotype, as evidenced by an increase in VSMC proliferation, mitochondrial activity, migration, and synthesis but a decrease in VSMC apoptosis. Lactate inhibited miR-23b expression in VSMCs, and miR-23b inhibited VSMC's switch to the synthetic phenotype. Lactate modulated the VSMC phenotype through downregulation of miR-23b expression, suggesting that overexpression of miR-23b using a miR-23b mimic attenuated the effects of lactate on VSMC phenotype modulation. Moreover, we discovered that SMAD family member 3 (SMAD3) was the target of miR-23b in regulating VSMC phenotype. Further findings suggested that lactate promotes VSMC switch to synthetic phenotype by targeting SMAD3 and downregulating miR-23b. These findings suggest that correcting the dysregulation of miR-23b/ SMAD3 or lactate metabolism is a potential treatment for vascular diseases.
