<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Wireless sensor networks with fixed sink node often suffer from hot spots problem since sensor nodes close to the sink usually have more traffic burden to forward during transmission process. Utilizing mobile sink has been shown as an effective technique to enhance the network performance such as energy efficiency, network lifetime, and latency, etc. In this paper, we propose a particle swarm optimization based clustering algorithm with mobile sink for wireless sensor network. In this algorithm, the virtual clustering technique is performed during routing process which makes use of the particle swarm optimization algorithm. The residual energy and position of the nodes are the primary parameters to select cluster head. The control strategy for mobile sink to collect data from cluster head is well designed. Extensive simulation results show that the energy consumption is much reduced, the network lifetime is prolonged, and the transmission delay is reduced in our proposed routing algorithm than some other popular routing algorithms.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> We made a survey about mobile sink and PSO based routing algorithms for WSNs. </LI> <LI> We proposed an Energy efficient PSO based routing algorithm with Mobile Sink (EPMS). </LI> <LI> We presented theoretical analysis of clustering with PSO algorithm for WSNs. </LI> <LI> We gave detailed packet structure and explanation. </LI> <LI> We performed extensive simulation and comparison with other routing algorithms. </LI> </UL> </P>

The Wnt/b-catenin transcriptional activation complex requires the adapter protein Pygopus (Pygo), which links the basal transcription machine to b-catenin to regulate the transcription of target genes. Previous studies revealed that the Pygo genes were broadly involved in the embryonic development of Drosophila, Xenopus and mouse, however, their functions in the embryonic development of amphioxus and zebrafish remain to be investigated. Here, we cloned and characterized one Pygo gene from amphioxus Branchiostoma belcheri (BbPygo) and two fromzebrafish Danio rerio (DrPygo1 and DrPygo2). The spatial–temporal expression profiles showed that all these genes were maternally expressed. BbPygo expression was distributed ubiquitously in the amphioxus embryos before the gastrula stage and became restricted in the pharyngeal region in late stages. Similar to BbPygo, DrPygo2 was also expressed throughout whole embryos before the early gastrula stage, but limited in the pharyngeal region and central nervous system (CNS) in subsequent developing stages. Further knockdown of the DrPygo2 resulted in developmental defects of the body axis, CNS and cartilage segments in zebrafish. In contrast, the expression signal of the DrPygo1 gene was not detectable using the in situ hybridization method, which is consistent with its extremely low expression level detected by RTqPCR. The expression patterns and function investigations revealed in this study suggest that the three Pygo genes probably function differentially though all of them show a conserved maternal expression pattern during the early embryonic stages of amphioxus and zebrafish.

Background: Currently available guidelines contain conflicting recommendations on the management of blood pressure (BP) in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM). Therefore, it is necessary to appraise the guidelines and summarize the agreements and differences among recommendations. Methods: Four databases and the websites of guideline organizations were searched for guidelines regarding BP targets and thresholds for pharmacologic therapy in DM patients, and the included guidelines were appraised with the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation (AGREE) II instrument. Results: In 6,498 records identified, 20 guidelines met our inclusion criteria with 64.0% AGREE II scores (interquartile range, 48.5% to 72.0%). The scores of the European and American guidelines were superior to those of the Asian guidelines (both adjusted P<0.001). Most of the guidelines advocated systolic BP targets <130 mm Hg (12 guidelines, 60%) and diastolic BP targets <80 mm Hg (14 guidelines, 70%) in DM patients. Approximately half of the guidelines supported systolic BP thresholds >140 mm Hg (10 guidelines, 50%) and diastolic BP thresholds >90 mm Hg (nine guidelines, 45%). The tiny minority of the guidelines provided the relevant recommendations regarding the lower limit of official BP targets and the ambulatory BP monitoring (ABPM)/home BP monitoring (HBPM) targets and thresholds in DM patients. Conclusion: The lower official BP targets (<130/80 mm Hg) in patients with DM are advocated by most of the guidelines, but they contain conflicting recommendations on the official BP thresholds. Moreover, the gaps regarding the lower limit of official BP targets and the ABPM/HBPM targets and thresholds need to be considered by future study.
