Plackett-Burman (PB) and Box-Behnken (BB) experimental designs were used to optimize fermentation variables for the biotransformation of glycyrrhizin (GL) to monoglucuronyl-glycyrrhetinic acid (MGGA). The PB design was first used to screen the important factors among the medium variables. The steepest ascent method was used to approach the optimum range for each of these factors. The BB design was finally used to analyze the response surfaces of the screened factors for further optimization. The optimized conditions for this system were 0.7 g/L MgSO4·7H2O, 1.19 g/L GL, and cultivation for six days. The biotransformation of GL to MGGA could reach up to 35.72%, which is a good result for this kind of transformation.
Moderating effect of regulatory focus on public acceptance of nuclear energy

Public acceptance has become the most critical question for sustainable development of nuclear energy in recent decades. Many researches concentrated on risk and benefit perception, which were deemed as the most influential factors of Public Acceptance of Nuclear Energy (PANE). But few researches focused on psychological factors including regulatory focus. Therefore, this paper aimed to explore the moderating effect of regulatory focus on PANE based on Regulatory Focus Theory in order to find ways to increase/decrease PANE. An Internet-based survey had been carried out in China nationwide. The results indicated that trust in government was positively related to PANE and this relationship was mediated by risk and benefit perception. In addition, the strength of the associations between risk and benefit perception and PANE were moderated by regulatory focus, consisting of prevention focus and promotion focus. Pre-vention focus strengthened the negative relationship between risk perception and PANE, while pro-motion focus weakened. Moreover, promotion focus weakened the positive relationship between benefit perception and PANE, but no significant moderating effect of prevention focus was founded on the relationship between benefit perception and PANE. Some policy implications were also proposed on the basis of above-mentioned findings.
Extraction of parishin B and parishin C from Gastrodiae Rhizoma by subcritical water technology

Subcritical water extraction (SWE) was used to extract bioactive parishin B (PB) and parishin C (PC) fromGastrodiae Rhizoma. Extraction conditions were optimized by Box-Behnken design (BBD) of responsesurface methodology (RSM). The highest yield of PB was 7.46 ± 0.18 mg/g when the solid/liquid ratio(SLR) was 4.5 mg/mL at an extraction temperature of 118 C and extraction time of 50 min, and the highestyield of PC was 5.27 ± 0.07 mg/g when the SLR was 22 mg/mL at an extraction temperature of 145 Cand extraction time of 23 min. Compared with heating reflux extraction the yield of PB was about 1.3times higher, and that of PC about 2.6 times higher; Compared with ultrasound assisted extraction theyield of PB was about 3 times higher, and that of PC about 6 times higher. Degradation of parishin Aby SWE showed that the increasing mechanism of PB and PC mainly attributed to the conversion of PAinto PB and PC. This study suggests that SWE was an efficient and green way to extract natural productswith greater values.
Design of FBG Demodulation System Based on Arrayed Waveguide Grating

Array waveguide grating(AWG) is a kind of role scattered light passive device base on the plane wave circuit technology. A broadband laser beam can be divided into multi-beam laser light by wavelength. In this paper, the characteristics of AWG are used and based on previous studies. Using an array waveguide grating fiber Bragg grating (FBG) demodulation method, and the mathematical model of FBG is set up in theory. With the simulation analysis, the linear relationship between the AWG dual channel optical power ratio and the FBG central wavelength is obtained. The linear relationship was verified by experiments.
Sliding mode control for semi-Markovian jump systems via output feedback

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>This paper focuses on the output-feedback sliding mode controller design problem for uncertain continuous-time semi-Markovian jump systems (MJSs) in a descriptor system setup. The transition rates (TRs) of semi-MJSs rely on the random sojourn-time, which is different from the constant TRs in the conventional MJSs. By carefully exploiting the dynamical properties of the original system, combining with the switching functions, a descriptor system is firstly formulated to describe the holonomic dynamics of the sliding mode. Then, with the construction of a semi-Markovian Lyapunov function and the full utilization of the characteristics of cumulative distribution functions, a sufficient condition on the sliding surface synthesis is presented, which also guarantees the stochastic stability (SS) of sliding mode dynamical system. Furthermore, a sliding mode controller is synthesized to drive the underlying closed-loop system onto the sliding surface in finite time, locally for a given sliding region. Finally, an illustrative example is carried out to validate the effectiveness of the developed approach.</P>
Simulation and Investigation of Humidity Sensor based on Fiber Grating Fabry-Perot

In this article we have discussed the relative humidity sensor based on fiber grating Fabry-Perot (FBG-FP) coated with polyimide (PI) as a moisture sensitive film in theory. The moisture expansion coefficient of PI film as moisture strain on the FBG-FP sensor, which will result the change of the fiber core effective refractive index, the length of the F-P cavity and the period and effective refractive index of FBG. For that reason, the interference fringes of the reflection spectrum will be changed also. The shift of peak wavelength of the spectrum is traced by the simulation of Matlab. We discuss three situations: the coating on the FBG, FP cavity and the both, and regardless of the temperature changes, the simulation results show that the RH sensitivity can reach to 3.77pm/%RH, 2.12 pm/%RH, 4.05 pm/%RH, respectively.
Fiber-Optic Current Sensor Head Based on the Giant Magnetostrictive Materials

A current sensing method based on giant magnetostrictive material (GMM) and fiber Bragg grating (FBG) was proposed, which not only combines the advantages of FBG such as wavelength encoding, compatibility with fiber and distributed measurement system realization, but also the advantages of GMM as large flexible coefficient, high electromechanical coupling coefficient and short response time. The minimal residual method was put forward to effectively identify the Jiles-Atherton model parameters of ferro-magnetic material. The parameters of the giant magnetostrictive ( Terfenol-D bar ) and the Jiles-Atherton model was established and optimized by using the Mathematica software. Then the optical fiber current test system with ferromagnetic loop was set up to investigate the current sensing properties of the sensor. The relationship between current excitation and GMM-FBG reflected wavelength was obtained, which provides basic support for further current sensing experiment research.
Research on surface image acquisition system of train bearing cylindrical roller

The acquisition of high-quality surface images is an important step in the surface damage detection of bearing rollers. In order to improve the quality of image acquisition and take into account the acquisition efficiency, an image acquisition system is designed in this paper. Through the dynamic analysis method, it is proved that the amplitude of the roller itself has little effect on the image in the acquisition process. Subsequently, the response surface method is used to analyze the interactive effect of the light source intensity, incident angle and roller speed on the image quality, and the optimal acquisition parameter setting value suitable for this acquisition system is found. Finally, the image of the bearing cylindrical roller with surface defects is collected to obtain a clear surface image. This paper can provide reference for the design of high level image acquisition system.
