Purpose: This study investigated the relationship between the number of days that hospital visits were postponed and changes in clinical parameters due to the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), after the Japanese government declared a state of emergency in April 2020. Methods: Regarding the status of postponement of appointments, we analyzed the patients who had visited the Nihon University Hospital at Matsudo for more than 1 year for supportive periodontal therapy (SPT) and classified them into low-, moderate- and high-risk subgroups according to the periodontal risk assessment (PRA). Clinical parameters for periodontal disease such as probing depth (PD), full-mouth bleeding score (FMBS), full-mouth plaque score, periodontal inflamed surface area (PISA), and periodontal epithelial surface area (PESA) were analyzed in 2 periods, from October 2019 to March 2020 and after April 2020. Correlation coefficients between days of deferral and the degree of changes in clinical parameters were calculated. Results: The mean age of the 749 patients was 67.56±10.85 years, and 63.82% were female. Out of 749 patients, 33.24% deferred their SPT appointments after April 2020. The average total of postponement days was 109.49±88.84. The number of postponement days was positively correlated with changes in average PD (rs=0.474) and PESA (rs=0.443) in the high-risk subgroup of FMBS, and average PD (rs=0.293) and PESA (rs=0.253) in the highrisk subgroup of tooth number (TN). Patients belonging to the high-risk subgroups for both FMBS and TN had a positive correlation between postponement days and PISA (rs=0.56). Conclusions: The findings, the spread of COVID-19 appears to have extended the visit interval for some SPT patients. Moreover, longer visit intervals were correlated with the worsening of some clinical parameters for SPT patients with high PRA.

In this review, we describe the absorption rates (Caco-2 cell permeability) and hepatic/plasma pharmacokinetics of 53 diverse chemicals estimated by modeling virtual oral administration in rats. To ensure that a broad range of chemical structures is present among the selected substances, the properties described by 196 chemical descriptors in a chemoinformatics tool were calculated for 50,000 randomly selected molecules in the original chemical space. To allow visualization, the resulting chemical space was projected onto a two-dimensional plane using generative topographic mapping. The calculated absorbance rates of the chemicals based on cell permeability studies were found to be inversely correlated to the no-observed-effect levels for hepatoxicity after oral administration, as obtained from the Hazard Evaluation Support System Integrated Platform in Japan (r = -0.88, p < 0.01, n = 27). The maximum plasma concentrations and the areas under the concentration-time curves (AUC) of a varied selection of chemicals were estimated using two different methods: simple one-compartment models (i.e., high-throughput toxicokinetic models) and simplified physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling consisting of chemical receptor (gut), metabolizing (liver), and central (main) compartments. The results obtained from the two methods were consistent. Although the maximum concentrations and AUC values of the 53 chemicals roughly correlated in the liver and plasma, inconsistencies were apparent between empirically measured concentrations and the PBPK-modeled levels. The lowest-observed-effect levels and the virtual hepatic AUC values obtained using PBPK models were inversely correlated (r = -0.78, p < 0.05, n = 7). The present simplified PBPK models could estimate the relationships between hepatic/plasma concentrations and oral doses of general chemicals using both forward and reverse dosimetry. These methods are therefore valuable for estimating hepatotoxicity.

Environments surrounding production sites have changed greatly in recent years. Accommodating environmental changes calls for the design and development of information systems that center on production lines. There is a need for a training program that teaches learners to understand the particulars of an operation and apply that knowledge to an information system. In this research, we used material requirements planning (MRP) as the subject for which basic skills are to be taught and developed an MRP exercise-based training program. The program is designed for 13 lectures of 90 minutes each, and it consists of MRP exercises, modeling methods to represent them, the use of a programming language for system development, and finally, evaluation of the exercises. Lecture materials are described in 505 lecture slides using Microsoft PowerPoint to allow visualization of topics through graphs and models. The developed training program was then delivered to 86 college students, and its results were measured through quizzes to verify educational effectiveness.

日本 東京大學, 京都大學 및 自然史傳物館 그리고 韓國 서울大學校 農科大學附屬 冠岳樹木園에 所藏된 植物標本을 바탕으로 지금까지 玄蔘料植物에 대하여 分類學的으로 硏究한 結果를 다음과 같이 要約 하였다. 개종용속(Lathraea)은 그 外觀上의 類似性으로 인하여 列當科로 취급한 傾向이 많았으나 本屬植物은 2실 자방으로 되었고 名室에 2개씩의 胚珠가 들어있음으로 玄蔘科에 넣은 것이 타당하다고 지적하였다. 꼬리풀속(Veronica)을 Veronica, Pseudolysimachion 및 Veronicastrum등 3속으로 分離하는 타당성을 재강조 하였고 외풀속(Vandelia)은 밭뚝외풀속(Lindernia)으로 통함시켰고, 변종이상의 분류군에 대한 檢索表를 만들어서 識別의 據點을 提示함과 동시에 分類群에 대한 文獻의 所在를 밝혔다. 分類學的인 所見은 全的으로 山崎가 硏究한 結果에 依하였다.

It was earlier reported that $[(OH_2)(terpy)Mn({\mu}-O)_2Mn(terpy)(OH_2)]^{3+}$ (terpy = 2,2':6',2"-terpyridine) (1) adsorbed on layer compounds catalyzes water oxidation to $O_2$ (J. Am. Chem. Soc., 2004, 126, 8084). The derivative with 4'-chloro-2,2':6',2"-terpyridine (Clterpy), $[(OH_2)(Clterpy)Mn({\mu}-O)_2Mn(Clterpy)(OH_2)](NO_3)_3\;(2(NO_3)_3)$ was synthesized and characterized by UV-visible absorption spectroscopic and magnetic susceptibility measurements. 2 is instable in aqueous solution at room temperature, but the stability of 2 in solution significantly increased at $5^{\circ}C$. The reaction of a 2-mica adsorbate with $Ce^{IV}$ in water produced a significant amount of $O_2$, although the reaction of 2 with $Ce^{IV}$ in a homogenous solution did not. However, the maximum turnover number (TN = 0.52) of 2 on the mica adsorbate was less than unity, indicating the non-catalytic $O_2$ evolution by 2 on mica in contrast to the cooperative catalysis by 1 on mica with TN = 15. The kinetic analysis showed that $O_2$ evolution follows first order kinetics with respect to 2 adsorbed on mica, with the first-order rate constant given to be $6.8{\times}10^{-5}\;s{-1}$. The first order kinetics can be explained by $O_2$ evolution involved in the unimolecular decomposition of 2 adsorbed on mica, which might be ascribed to the destabilized higher oxidation state of 2 due to the electron-withdrawing chloro-substitution.
