Background: Trophoblasts are the most important parts of the placenta in early pregnancy. Trophoblast cell dysfunction can induce embryo implantation insufficiency, thereby resulting in multiple diseases, including recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA). A previous study indicates higher nerve injury-induced protein 1 (NINJ1) RNA levels in the villi tissues of RSA patients. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of NINJ1 on trophoblast behaviors and pregnancy loss. Methods: Fresh villi tissues were obtained from with RSA patients and patients with artificial selective abortion for personal reasons, and NINJ1 expression in these tissues was detected. Extravillous trophoblast cell line HTR-8/SVneo was transfected with small-interfering RNA targeting NINJ1 or NINJ1 overexpression vector to perform loss-/gain-of-function experiments. Spontaneous abortion (SA) was induced by mating CBA/J females with DBA/2 males and the pregnant females were intraperitoneally injected with adenovirus vector carrying NINJ1 short hairpin RNA. Results: NINJ1 mRNA and protein levels were higher in the villi tissues of RSA patients than those of artificial selective abortion patients. NINJ1 knockdown promoted trophoblast cell proliferation, migration and invasion but inhibited cell apoptosis. Moreover, conditioned medium from NINJ1-depleted trophoblasts promoted the angiogenesis of human umbilical vein endothelial cells. NINJ1 knockdown also promoted activation of the signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) signaling pathway in trophoblasts, and STAT3 inhibitor reversed NINJ1 knockdown-induced effects on trophoblast behaviors. Furthermore, pregnancy loss was attenuated by NINJ1 inhibition. Conclusion: NINJ1 contributes to the development of SA and triggers trophoblast cell dysfunction through inhibiting the STAT3 pathway.
Vol.23 No.4
As emoticons gain bigger popularity in mobile instant messengers, many companies have created emoticons to represent their brand images. They have used anthropomorphization strategies to give human personalities to their brands, thus maintaining a closer relationship with consumers. The purpose of this research is to identify the factors that influence the preference for branded anthropomorphic emoticons. Specifically, it focuses on the effects of social exclusion. Consumers who experience social exclusion have a motivation to restore the threatened relations, and they are motivated to treat anthropomorphic branded emoticons as substitutes for real humans and use them to fix their broken relations. A 2(anthropomorphism: anthropomorphic emoticon vs. non-anthropomorphic emoticon) x 2(social bonding status: social exclusion vs. social inclusion) between group factorial design was employed to test our hypotheses. The results show that social exclusion has a significant moderating effect on emoticon preference and intention to use emoticons. Moreover, it shows that the moderating effect of anthropomorphism and social exclusion is mediated by perceived psychological warmth.
Construction of Hierarchical Ni(OH)2@CoMoO4 Nanoflake Composite for High-Performance Supercapacitors

Hierarchical Ni(OH)2@CoMoO4 nanoflake composite on Ni foam was successfully constructed by electrodepositing Ni(OH)2 onto CoMoO4 nanoflake and investigated as binder-free electrodes for supercapacitor. The composite shows a large areal capacitance of 5.23 F cm-2 at current density of 8 mA cm-1, and a capacitance retention of 82.5% after 1000 cycles. The high electrochemical performances can be attributed to the hierarchical nanoflakes structure and the synergetic effect between Ni(OH)2 nanosheets and CoMoO4 nanoflakes. This work demonstrates that Ni(OH)2@CoMoO4 nanoflake composite is highly desirable for application as advanced electrochemical electrode material.

This paper presents the performance investigation and design technology of a Line Start-up Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (LSPMSM) with super premium efficiency, including a design consideration and evaluation for motor start-up, key performance, and advanced finite element analysis FEA) for the design, improvement and verification, prototype build and test, design and test data comparison with a $Premium^{(R)}$ Efficient Induction Motor (PEIM). To assess the design technology, the LSPMSM prototype was built amended from a PEIM with the same frame, stator punching and rated output. Based on the prototype test, two novel design improvements and analyses have been done to eliminate noise and vibration. Additionally, the comparisons with the PEIM on the power factor, efficiency, frame size and active material consumption indicated that a significant performance improvement and active material cost reduction can be achieved by the LSPMSM.
