Effects of viscous damping models on a single-layer latticed dome during earthquakes

        Huidong Zhang,Jinpeng Wang,Xiaoshuai Zhang,Guoping Liu 국제구조공학회 2017 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.62 No.4

Rayleigh damping model is recommended in the recently developed Performance-Based Earthquake Engineering (PBEE) methodology, but this methodology does not provide sufficient information due to the complexity of the damping mechanism. Furthermore, each Rayleigh-type damping model may have its individual limitations. In this study, Rayleigh-type damping models that are used widely in engineering practice are discussed. The seismic performance of a large-span single-layer latticed dome subjected to earthquake ground motions is investigated using different Rayleigh damping models. Herein a simulation technique is developed considering low cycle fatigue (LCF) in steel material. In the simulation technique, Ramberg-Osgood steel material model with the low cycle fatigue effect is used to simulate the non-uniformly distributed material damping and low cycle fatigue damage in the structure. Subsequently, the damping forces of the structure generated by different damping models are compared and discussed; the effects of the damping ratio and roof load on the damping forces are evaluated. Finally, the low cycle fatigue damage values in sections of members are given using these damping models. Through a comparative analysis, an appropriate Rayleigh-type damping model used for a large span single-layer latticed dome subjected to earthquake ground motions is determined in terms of the existing damping models.

      • Land and Sea Engineering Geological Model and Division of the Laizhou Bay Coast, China

( Xiaoshuai Song ),( Yonggang Jia ),( Hongxian Shan ),( Xiaolei Liu ),( Yong Zhang ),( Xianghuai Kong ) 대한지질공학회 2019 대한지질공학회 학술발표회논문집 Vol.2019 No.2

In order to meet the development demands of Laizhou Bay Coastal Zone, there has carried out, including engineering survey, engineering geological drilling, in-situ test (standard penetration test), laboratory test, theoretical analysis and other research methods, in line with the layout of geo-spatial development and its geological environment characteristics. Through the analysis of the essential data, the stratigraphic structure, topography, geological structure and hydrogeological conditions of the study area were obtained. Based on the measured data of 24 engineering geological boreholes and the collected data of 202 boreholes, nine engineering geological layers were determined. And the types of rock and soil, the distribution of poor geological bodies and the engineering geology structural features have been understood. Based on that, the three-dimensional engineering geological model of Laizhou Bay coastal zone was established by using the software Mapgis K9. The image of the model objectively reflected the engineering stratigraphic structure and geological characteristics of the study area. Finally, the land area of the study area was divided into three major engineering geological areas and eight engineering geological sub-areas. Similarly, the sea area was divided into three major areas and six geological sub-areas. This work can provide local government with detailed and reliable basic data for development planning, provide scientific basis for coastal economic construction and sustainable development, and serve land and resources utilization, coastal zone development and management and planning.

Sampled-data Output Feedback Control of a Class of Uncertain Nonlinear Systems

        Jian Zhang,Xiaoshuai Xin,Hongbing Xu 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2013 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.11 No.1

In this paper, we study the problem of sampled-data output feedback control for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems. The main contributions of this work are two-fold: (i) we develop a systematic design procedure of sampled-data output feedback controller; and (ii) we provide a theoretical analysis of the sampled-data closed-loop system, which shows that the state of the plant can be regu-lated into any given neighborhood of the origin by an appropriate choice of design parameters and sampling period. Furthermore, the bound of the neighborhood is proportionally dependent on the sam-pling period. Finally, an illustrative example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the presented method.

Risk of Hematologic Malignancies in Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease: A Meta-Analysis of Cohort Studies

        Zhou Xiaoshuai,Zhang Qiufeng,Wang Dongying,Xiang Zhiyi,Ruan Jiale,Tang Linlin 거트앤리버 소화기연관학회협의회 2024 Gut and Liver Vol.18 No.5

Background/Aims: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) may contribute to the development of hematologic malignancies. In this study, the potential relationship between IBD and hematologic malignancies was investigated. Methods: We searched the PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases for all cohort studies comparing the incidence of hematologic malignancies in non-IBD populations with that in IBD patients, and we extracted relevant data from January 2000 to June 2023 for meta-analysis. Results: Twenty cohort studies involving 756,377 participants were included in this study. The results showed that compared with the non-IBD cohort, the incidence of hematologic malignancies in the IBD cohort was higher (standardized incidence ratio [SIR]=3.05, p<0.001). According to the specific types of IBD, compared with the non-IBD patients, the incidences of hematologic malignancies in ulcerative colitis patients (SIR=2.29, p=0.05) and Crohn's disease patients (SIR=3.56, p=0.005) were all higher. In the subgroup analysis of hematologic malignancy types, compared with the control group, the incidences of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (SIR=1.70, p=0.01), Hodgkin's lymphoma (SIR=3.47, p=0.002), and leukemia (SIR=3.69, p<0.001) were all higher in the IBD cohort. Conclusions: The incidence of hematologic malignancies, including non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, Hodgkin's lymphoma, and leukemia is higher in patients with IBD (ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease) than in non-IBD patients.

A Novel Approach to Synthesize Nitrogen-Deficient g-C3N4 for the Enhanced Photocatalytic Contaminant Degradation and Electrocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution

        Xiaoxiao Li,Kailian Zhang,Man Zhou,Kai Yang,Shi Yang,Xiaoshuai Ma,Changlin Yu,Yu Xie,Weiya Huang,Qizhe Fan 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2020 NANO Vol.15 No.02

Graphitic carbon nitride with nitrogen vacancies was successfully synthesized by the three-step method for the calcination of melamine, following urea-assisted hydrothermal and jacjoin calcination approach. The structural, surface, optical and electric properties were characterized by XRD, FT-IR, SEM, TEM, UV–Vis DRS, PL, N2 physical adsorption/desorption and electrochemical methods, which proved that this strategy of modifying g-C3N4 by nitrogen vacancies not only increased the specific surface area, exposed more active sites, but also inhibited the recombination of photogenerated carriers on the surface of photocatalysts, resulting in the enhancement of photocatalytic and electrocatalytic performances. The photocatalytic activities were measured under visible light irradiation ( λ > 420 nm), and their degradation efficiencies could be achieved for 99.8%, 55%, 100% and 99.7% corresponding to that of rhodamine B, acid orange II, methyl orange and methylene blue, respectively. The trapping experiments demonstrated that ·O2- played an important role in the degradation process. In addition, being an active electrocatalyst, nitrogen-deficient g-C3N4 showed a lower Tafel slope, smaller overpotential and the more effective electrochemical surface area compared with that of bare g-C3N4 in neutral media. This work underlines the importance of defect engineering to promote catalytic performance, which can provide a simple and efficient way for modifying g-C3N4 and other N-based catalysts.
