The interaction between metalloporphyrins and diazine tautomers was investigated using quantum chemistry method. The results showed that the metal atom in the metalloporphyrin was not coplanar with porphin ring, and zinc porphyrin has the most extent of its non-coplanar nature. The most stable complex in nine complexes was iron porphyrin. NBO analysis indicated that the interaction between the lone pair of electrons on the nitrogen atom and the unoccupied lone pair orbital of metal contributes significantly to the stability of the complexes. Through the conceptual DFT parameter and Fukui dual descriptor, the thermodynamic stability and reactivity of complexes were analyzed. The density difference function (DDF) analyzes were performed to explore the rearrangement of electronic density after the coordination interaction. NICS calculation indicated that metalloporphyrin aromaticity was reduced after the coordination interaction, and aromaticity of diazine tautomer was increased along direction vector of the coordination interaction force.

A feeding trial was conducted to investigate effects of Bacillus licheniformis on growth performance and meat quality of broilers. Nine hundred one-d-old broiler chicks were randomly assigned to 3 experimental groups with three replicate pens of 100 broiler chicks. Three treatments were i) control, ii) basal diets supplemented with 1 ml of B. licheniformis for each in feed water per day iii) basal diets supplemented with 2 ml of B. licheniformis per chick in feed water per day. The supplementation of B. licheniformis significantly increased body weight in grower chickens (p<0.05), and significantly improved the feed conversion in 3 to 6 and 0 to 6 wk feeding period compared with the control group (p<0.05). Additionally, the supplement also resulted in increased protein and free amino acid contents, and decreased fat content in chicken breast fillet (p<0.05). Furthermore, improvement in sensory attributes was observed in broilers fed with the probiotic. In conclusion, B. licheniformis treatments resulted in a significant increase (p<0.05) in broiler productivity based on an index taking into account daily weight gain and feed conversion rate. Meanwhile, the probiotic contributed towards an improvement of the chemical, nutritional and sensorial characteristics of breast fillet. Overall, the study indicates that B. licheniformis can be used as a growth promoter and meat quality enhancer in broiler poultry.

An experimental study of laminar combustion characteristics of ethanol-air premixed mixtures was conducted with different ignition methods, including laser induced spark ignition (LISI) and electric spark ignition (SI) at an initial condition of 358 K temperature and 0.1MPa pressure. Flame propagation with the two different ignition methods was analyzed and discussed. The laminar flame speed was extrapolated with a nonlinear extrapolation method. Results indicate that the laminar speed of ethanol-air mixtures with LISI is faster than that with SI at lean mixtures, but slower at stoichiometric and rich mixtures. The peak values of the laminar burning velocity for SI and LISI with nonlinear extrapolation are 50.1 cm/s and 47.6 cm/s at the equivalence ratio of 1.1, respectively. Laser-induced spark ignition is able to ignite leaner ethanol-air mixtures.

Novel efficient biochar of Goldenberry peels (GBPMW-H3PO4) was prepared through a microwave-assistedphosphoric acid activation method. It was characterized and used for removing two beta-lactamase inhibitors, sulbactam(SAM, first listed in Japan in 1986) and avibactam (AVI, first listed in the U.S. in 2015), from aqueous solution. Characterization confirmed that GBPMW-H3PO4 displayed a high surface area (720.046m2 g1), more abundant porestructure, smaller particle size, and higher thermal stability. The experimental results showed that the adsorption of thetwo antibiotics was a spontaneous, favorable, and endothermic process, highly dependent on solution pH. A contacttime of 60 min assured equilibrium, and GBPMW-H3PO4 followed pseudo-first-order kinetics (R2=0.9950-0.9977). Furthermore,the adsorption capacities of GBPMW-H3PO4 for SAM and AVI were 211.86 and 198.81mg g1, respectively,and the performance was better than that of unmodified biochar. Microscopically, the main mechanism could beexplained by - electron donor-acceptor interaction, hydrogen bonding interaction, -hydrogen bonding, hydrophobicinteraction, and electrostatic interaction. The study demonstrates that the microwave-assisted H3PO4 activationmethod could produce biochar, and GBPMW-H3PO4 was confirmed to be a low-cost and high-efficiency adsorbent forremoving beta-lactamase inhibitors from medical wastewater.

Objective: Electroacupuncture (EA) has a definite effect on the treatment of spinal cord injuries (SCIs), but its underlying molecular mechanism remains unclear. Meanwhile, MiR-106b-5p is an autophagy- and apoptosis-related microribonucleic acid, but whether it regulates the progression of autophagy and apoptosis in SCIs is yet undetermined. As such, this study aimed to elucidate the involvement of miR-106b-5p in the EA treatment of an SCI. Methods: The miR-106b-5p level was detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. In vitro, SH-SY5Y cells were transfected with miR-106b-5p mimics or inhibitors to regulate the miR-106b-5p expression, while in vivo, SCI rats were treated with EA for 7 days at the bilateral Zusanli (ST36) and Jiaji (EX-B2) acupoints. The motor function was evaluated using the Basso-Beattie-Bresnahan (BBB) criteria. Further, autophagic vacuoles, pathological damage, and neuronal cell morphology were observed by transmission electron microscopy, as well as by hematoxylin and eosin and Nissl staining, respectively. Results: The miR-106b-5p level, which can interact directly with Beclin-1 by influencing its expression, as well as the expressions of P62, Caspase-3, and Bax, was upregulated after an SCI, but it decreased after EA. Moreover, the ratio of LC3-II to LC3-I was upregulated after EA. EA can enhance autophagy, reduce neuronal apoptosis, and minimize motor dysfunction and histopathological deficits after an SCI. More importantly, however, all the above effects induced by EA can be reversed after an injection of miR-106-5p agomir to produce an overexpression of miR-106b-5p. Conclusion: EA treatment could downregulate miR-106b-5p to alleviate SCI-mediated injuries by promoting autophagy and inhibiting apoptosis.
Economic Production of Probiotics from Kitchen Waste

In the present work, a novel treatment method of kitchen waste for economic production of probiotics was investigated. This required the selection of suitable probiotic microorganisms. Based on the pure cultures of probiotic strains for the fermentation kitchen waste, 5 strains of microorganisms including 1 strain of Lactobacillus, 2strains of Bacillus, and 2 strains of yeast were selected,respectively. These probiotic microorganisms were mixed at the same ratio and cultured using the kitchen waste as culture medium at pH of 7.2 and temperature of 37oC. After 24 h, the total count of the viable cells reached 2.24×1010 CFU/g, which was higher than that obtained in any single probiotic strain pure culture. It was found that the presence of yeasts and Bacillus species enhanced the growth of Lactobacillus strain. Bench scale experiments were also done in a self-designed rotating drum type bioreactor. The experimental results indicate that there is a good possibility of utilizing kitchen waste for the economic production of probiotics.
A downhole multi-parameter monitoring system for electrical submersible pump

In order to achieve online monitoring the downhole information related to ESP working state, an ESP downhole parameters monitoring system based on current loop data transmission method was developed. Compared with other methods, the current loop data transmission method was relatively insensitive to interference in harsh environment. By means of ESP motor’s winding and symmetrical reactance located on the ground, the loop for current transmission could be built. The principle of current loop transmission and involved circuit were introduced. An experiment simulating the hostile downhole environment was conducted to test the transmission effect, by which the reliability and accuracy of current loop data transmission was demonstrated.
