      • Exploring Professional Identity in the Tourism Sector: A systematic analysis of the Perspectives on Definitions, and the Emphasis and research content under each perspective

Vol.45 No.1

In the tourism sector, definitions of professional identity (PI) tend to be consistently vague and contradictory. In addition, research in the field shows significant variation in focus, purpose, methodology and findings, leading to confusion among researchers and readers. This complexity is further exacerbated by long-standing academic debates about PI and by cultural and regional differences. To gain a comprehensive and clear understanding of the study of PI in the tourism sector and to address the above issues, it is imperative to conduct a scientific review. In this study, studies on PI in the tourism sector were systematically sorted and analyzed in depth. The results showed that the problems mentioned were due to the different perspectives in defining PI. The results also revealed three different perspectives on the definition of PI in the tourism sector: understanding, awareness, and evaluation perspectives, which refer to the perspectives that look at the essential elements of PI - sameness and coherence between self and profession. This study provides a series of framework diagrams for each perspective, offering a holistic view and an in-depth discussion of some of the controversies surrounding PI. This paper will enable future researchers to gain a systematic and clear insight into PI research in the tourism sector, thereby encouraging more in-depth research.

Then, it analyzed the capability management processes, objects, primary steps, value of the EGS through construct the capability “Holding-Enhancement” model. Consequently, argued the benefits of EGS capability management was argued. Finally, case study on EGS capability management was carried out. The approach proposed in this paper might be helpful for the government IT managers to management EGS capability effectively and efficiently.

      • Study on the Intelligence Service Model in “Scenario-Response” Emergency Decision Making : Taking China as an Example

2016 International Journal of Hybrid Information Techno Vol.9 No.5

Intelligence service model (ISM) plays a key role in emergency decision-makings (EDM). So, how will it be changed to better support those unconventional emergency decisions based on “scenario-response” paradigm? To solve it, the paper firstly analyzes the relationships between two main chains in EDM which are named “scenarios chain” and “decision-making chain”, and adopts a “target-centric” intelligence process to establish a new ISM. Then, an example of “Songhua river water pollution incident” in China is taken to further explain the operation mechanism of this model. Finally, suggestions are promoted from three aspects - intelligence theory, intelligence culture and intelligence resources. The study is to provide a new perspective for the development of theory and practice in emergency intelligence services.

      • Port states’ responses to foreign cruise ships with COVID-19 or other epidemic risks

2022 The Asian Business Lawyer Vol.29 No.-

The experience of various port states’ responses to more than 40 foreign cruise ships during the pandemic of COVID-19 exposes seriously arguable issues of the obligations and rights of a port state. Based upon such experience, the public health theory, and the features of cruise ships, the authors put forward the principles to be followed in determining the obligations and rights of a port state in public health response to foreign cruise ships infected or suspected of being infected with COVID- 19 or similar epidemic virus, i.e. the principles of national sovereignty, international protection of human rights, international cooperation, beneficiary pays and reasonable administration, and analyze the conflict between the principle of national sovereignty and that of international human rights protection and how to coordinate them. The authors expound in detail the obligations of a port state including allowing free pratique to foreign cruise ships and implementing surveillance, notification, verification and health measures. Also expounded are the rights of a port state, i.e. implementing public health measures on arrival and departure, requesting assistance and collaboration, and claiming compensation from shipowners and their liability insurers. Suggestions are put forward on improving International Health Regulation(IHR).

      • Autonomous Ships: Challenges to Contemporary Maritime Law

2023 The Asian Business Lawyer Vol.31 No.0

Traditional maritime law regimes are framed based upon three primary elements, i.e. ship, master and other crewmembers, and shipping company (shipowner, operator and manager). Autonomous ships or Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) as defined and classified by IMO will change these elements. Especially, intelligent network system and other AI technology together with other advanced technology will gradually be applied in ship’s equipment, navigation and operation. The roles crewmembers onboard a ship will be replaced by the shore-based operators generally in the cases of MASS of L2 and completely in the cases of L3. Predictably, these characteristics will pose significant challenges to the legal regimes of contemporary public and private maritime law including but not limited to those pertaining to the crewmembers, carriage of goods or passengers by sea, collisions at sea and marine insurance, in order to be adaptive to the characteristics of autonomous ships. In particular, the scope of ship seaworthiness needs be extended to both hardware and software and shipping company’s obligations to make a ship seaworthy and maintain seaworthiness need be modified especially to ensure the availability and workability of intelligent network systems. The legal functions of the crewmembers will be modified in the cases of MASS of L2 and the legal status of the shore-based operators need be clarified in the cases of MASS of L2 and L3. Where the prevailing regimes or rules of maritime law may be applied to autonomous ships through appropriate interpretation, it is not advisable to establish new regimes or rules.

Stability of phenolic acids and the effect on weed control activity

        Jiayu Li,Qi Zhang,Wenwen Hu,Xiaoyan Yang,Haibin He 한국응용생명화학회 2015 Applied Biological Chemistry (Appl Biol Chem) Vol.58 No.6

Phenolic acid is a very important class of allelochemicals with allelopathic weed control activity. In this study, three benzoic acid derivatives (syringic, 4-hydroxybenzoic, and vanillic acids), three cinnamic acid derivatives (cinnamic, 4-hydroxycinnamic, and ferulic acids) were tested, and high-performance liquid chromatography was used to conduct a dynamic analysis on the changes in the concentration of phenolic acids in a bioassay based on the initial concentration and test time. The results showed that the concentration of individual phenolic acids and a solution of mixed phenolic acids decreased to a certain extent irrespective of environment, i.e., bioassay (4–7 days) or a ricegrowing environment, and a significant decrease in concentration was measured after 48 h. Based on the above results, the laboratory bioassay was conducted using a fresh solution of phenolic acids every 48 h. The results showed that the instability of phenolic acid could affect its weed control activity, and this effect was more significant for high concentrations of phenolic acids. On the other hand, changing the solution did not have a significant impact on the weed control activity of phenolic acids in the natural environment (pH 6.50), in which allelopathic rice release phenolic acids. These results reveal the instability of phenolic acids could significantly reduce the inhibition rate on the growth index for receptor plants in an indoor bioassay.

The complement system: a potential target for the comorbidity of chronic pain and depression

        Shanshan Tang,Wen Hu,Helin Zou,Qingyang Luo,Wenwen Deng,Song Cao 대한통증학회 2024 The Korean Journal of Pain Vol.37 No.2

The mechanisms of the chronic pain and depression comorbidity have gained significant attention in recent years. The complement system, widely involved in central nervous system diseases and mediating non-specific immune mechanisms in the body, remains incompletely understood in its involvement in the comorbidity mechanisms of chronic pain and depression. This review aims to consolidate the findings from recent studies on the complement system in chronic pain and depression, proposing that it may serve as a promising shared therapeutic target for both conditions. Complement proteins C1q, C3, C5, as well as their cleavage products C3a and C5a, along with the associated receptors C3aR, CR3, and C5aR, are believed to have significant implications in the comorbid mechanism. The primary potential mechanisms encompass the involvement of the complement cascade C1q/C3- CR3 in the activation of microglia and synaptic pruning in the amygdala and hippocampus, the role of complement cascade C3/C3a-C3aR in the interaction between astrocytes and microglia, leading to synaptic pruning, and the C3a-C3aR axis and C5a-C5aR axis to trigger inflammation within the central nervous system. We focus on studies on the role of the complement system in the comorbid mechanisms of chronic pain and depression.

A post-genome-wide association study validating the association of the glycophorin C gene with serum hemoglobin level in pig

        Yang Liu,Zhengzheng Hu,Chen Yang,Shiwei Wang,Wenwen Wang,Qin Zhang 아세아·태평양축산학회 2017 Animal Bioscience Vol.30 No.5

Objective: This study aimed to validate the statistical evidence from the genome-wide association study (GWAS) as true-positive and to better understand the effects of the glycophorin C (GYPC) gene on serum hemoglobin traits. Methods: Our initial GWAS revealed the presence of two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) (ASGA0069038 and ALGA0084612) for the hemoglobin concentration trait (HGB) in the 2.48 Mb region of SSC15. From this target region, GYPC was selected as a promising gene that associated with serum HGB traits in pigs. SNPs within the GYPC gene were detected by sequencing. Thereafter, we performed association analysis of the variant with the serum hemoglobin level in three pig populations. Results: We identified one SNP (g.29625094 T>C) in exon 3 of the GYPC gene. Statistical analysis showed a significant association of the SNP with the serum hemoglobin level on day 20 (p<0.05). By quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, the GYPC gene was expressed in eight different tissues. Conclusion: These results might improve our understanding of GYPC function and provide evidence for its association with serum hemoglobin traits in the pig. These results also indicate that the GYPC gene might serve as a useful marker in pig breeding programs.
