The Interpolation Method for the missing AIS Data of Ship

The interpolation of missing AIS data can be used for recovering the lost data of a ship’s state which is then able to produce useful information for VTS stations or other ships. Previous research has introduced some interpolating methods however there are some problems with regard to missing AIS data. This paper proposes one new method which includes linear interpolation, cubic Hermit interpolation and an identification mechanism to overcome some of those limitations, first AIS data regarding ship position, COG, SOG and HDG is divided into separate time series, then the characteristic of the missing data is investigated into through using an identification mechanism, an appropriate interpolation is selected to fit all the time series which matches the characteristics. Numerical experiments are carried out using real AIS data to validate the algorithm of this approach and the results are compared with the previous method, after which the actual missing area is suggested to be interpolated by the proposed method. The interpolation results show this approach can be applied well in practice.

<P>Ginseng represents a set of high-value medicinal plants of different species: Panax ginseng (Asian ginseng), Panax quinquefolius (American ginseng), Panax notoginseng (Chinese ginseng), Panax japonicus (Bamboo ginseng), and Panax vietnamensis (Vietnamese ginseng). Each species is pharmacologically and economically important, with differences in efficacy and price. Accordingly, an authentication system is needed to combat economically motivated adulteration of Panax products. We conducted comparative analysis of the chloroplast genome sequences of these five species, identifying 34-124 InDels and 141-560 SNPs. Fourteen InDel markers were developed to authenticate the Panax species. Among these, eight were species unique markers that successfully differentiated one species from the others. We generated at least one species-unique marker for each of the five species, and any of the species can be authenticated by selection among these markers. The markers are reliable, easily detectable, and valuable for applications in the ginseng industry as well as in related research.</P>
Non-isolated Boost Charger for the Li-Ion Batteries Suitable for Fuel Cell Powered Laptop Computers

The conventional non-isolated boost converter has some drawbacks such as poor dynamic performance and a discontinuous output current, which make it unsuitable for battery charging applications. In spite of its compactness and lightness, it is not preferred as a charger of portable electronic devices. In this paper, a non-isolated boost converter topology for Li-ion batteries suitable for fuel cell powered laptop computers is proposed and analyzed. The proposed converter has an additional inductor at the output to make a continuous output current. This feature makes it suitable for charger applications by eliminating the disadvantages of the conventional non-isolated boost converter mentioned above. A prototype of the proposed converter is built for the Li-ion battery charger of a laptop computer to prove the validity and advantages of the proposed topology.
Analysis of the Output Ripple of the DC–DC Boost Charger for Li-Ion Batteries

In the design of battery chargers, limiting the output ripple current according to the manufacturer’s recommendation is important for reliable service and extended battery life. Ripple components can cause internal heating of the battery and thus reduce the service life of the battery. Care must be exerted in the design of the switching converter for the charge application through the accurate estimation of the output current ripple value. This study proposes a method to reduce the output current ripple of the converter and presents a detailed analysis of the output current ripple of the DC?DC boost converter to provide a guideline for the design of the battery charger.
Control of Active Suspension System by Using H$\infty$ Theory

This paper presents a control of active suspension for quarter car model with two degree of freedom by using H$\infty$ method. Absolute velocity of car body is measured for feedback. The system parameter variations are treated with multiplicative uncertainty model. Simulation results show that the H$\infty$ control provides good trade-off between ride quality, suspension packaging and road holding constraints. The experiment with a front wheel suspension system was done to verify the simulation results.
