A New High Lysine with Disease Resistance Rice Variety "Yeonganbyeo"

“Yeonganbyeo”, a new japonica rice variety (Oryza sativa L.), is a mid- maturing ecotype with high lysine content in kernels that was developed by the rice breeding team of National Yeongnam Agricultural Experiment Station (NYAES) in 2001 and released in 2002. This variety was originated from the single cross of Milyang 122/YR13616 Acp1 (in 1992/1993 winter) and was selected by means of a mixed method of bulk and pedigree breeding. The pedigree of “Yeonganbyeo” was YR15815-B-B-B-30 and designated in 1998 as “Milyang 164”. It has about 83cm in culm length with lodging tolerance. This variety is resistant to bacterial leaf blight (K1, K2, K3), stripe virus, and moderately resistant to leaf blast disease. Milled rice kernels of “Yeonganbyeo” has high lysine content of 4.31% (ratio of amino acid components in total protein), a clear translucent with non-glutinous endosperm and clear in chalkness and good at eating quality by pannel test. The yield potential of “Yeonganbyeo” in milled rice is about 5.45 MT/ha at ordinary fertilizer level of local adaptability test. This cultivar would be adaptable to the southern plain of Korea.

중등 고전문학 작품 ‘남성적-여성적 어조’ 지도의 문제

중등 교육과정에서 문학 작품을 감상할 때 ‘어조’ 학습은 화자가 처한 상황내지 시의 분위기와 밀접한 관련을 갖는다는 점에서 중요하다. 특히 ‘남성적 어조’와 ‘여성적 어조’와 같이 성별에 따라 어조를 유형화하는 것은 작품 분석에 있어 큰 이견 없이 사용되고 있다. 본고에서는 우리가 관습적으로 사용하고 있는 남성적-여성적 어조의 이분적 구도에 대해 문제 제기하고자 한다. 그 방법으로 현장 학생들의 실질적인 질의를 통해 상기 문제점을 구체적으로 분석하고, 현행 교과서 및 교사용 지도 자료를 살펴보았다. 나아가 성별 속성의 고정된 이해에서 벗어나 학생들이 고전과 현대를 아우르는 우리 문학을 능동적이고 효과적으로 감상할 수 있도록 현실적인 대안을 제안하였다. 문화화된 성별 속성을 통한 이분적인 어조의 구별방식은 현대 중고교 학생들의 질의를 받기에 충분하다. 남성의 속성과 여성의 속성을 더이상 문화적 보편성이나 전통성에 기대어 수용하지 못하는 세대이기 때문이다. 지금도 다수의 교과서나 문제집에서는 우리 문학에서 기초적으로 학습해야 하는 거장의 시들을 성별 속성에 따라 분석하고 있다. 가령 여성적 어조는 부드럽고 섬세하며 애절함이나 그리움의 정서가 두드러질 때 사용되며, 남성적 어조는 거칠고 호탕한 분위기나 시어 사용 및 단정적이고 강렬한 정서가 나타날 때 사용된다. 해당 이분적 구도는 일차적으로 성별과 특정 정서가 대응되는가에 대해 관습적 측면을 배제하면 명확히 답하지 못한다는 점에서 한계를 갖는다. 예로부터 문학 분석에 사용되었던 정통 방식이라고도 볼 수 없다. 결정적으로 오늘날의 학생들에게 ‘무엇이 남성적인 것인지’, 또는 ‘무엇이 여성적인 것인지’ 역으로 추가적인 설명이 동반되어야 한다는 점에서 지도의 효과도 떨어진다. 해당학습법이 지속된다면 학생들이 성장 과정에서 성별에 따른 고정 관념을 내면화하게 되는 부정적 결과 또한 낳을 수 있다. 따라서 문학 감상에 있어 남성적-여성적 어조의 이분적 구별 대신 부드러운 어조, 단호한 어조 등과 같이 화자의 ‘정서 자체’를 평가하는 표현의 지도가 보다 강화되어야 할 것이다. Learning ‘tone’ is important works in secondary school curriculum because it is closely related to the situation of the narrator or mood of the poem. In particular, categorizing the tone according to gender, such as ‘male-tone’ and ‘feminine-tone’, used continuously for analyzing poetry. This study attempts to raise the issue of masculine and feminine tone that we have used customarily. We specifically analyzed the above problems through practical questions from students, and also analyzed textbooks and instructional textbooks for teachers. Furthermore, We deviated from a fixed understanding of gender, proposed a realistic method to students to learning literature more actively and effectively. Distinction between the two tones through cultural gender attributes is issue for current middle and high school students. This is because they are no longer able to accept male and female attributes against cultural tradition. Even now, many textbooks analyze poetry that should be basically learned in our literature according to gender attributes. For example, the feminine tone is soft and delicate, and lt used mourning or longing stand out, and the masculine tone is used harsh strong poetry or the intense feelings appear. This distinction has limitations that it is not possible to answer whether gender itself and emotional characteristics correspond. It is not the way it has been used before. Decisively, the effectiveness of this method is also weak, because students should be given additional explanations of ‘what is masculine?’, ‘what is feminine?’. If this method continues, can also have negative influence for students to internalize stereotypes by gender during they grow. Therefore, instead of the distinction between masculine and feminine tones, Expressions that evaluate the Narrator’s ‘emotion’ should be recommended, such as a soft tone and rigid tone.

In this paper, the ZnO surge arrester performance of power distribution class has been studied under different manufacturing conditions such as housing materials(polymeric, porcelain), interface sealants and one-body molding type. In the recent years, the polymeric ZnO surge arresters have been developed and put into operations based on their excellent characteristics. For polymeric surge arresters, the inner gas volume is extremely small, especially in solid insulation polymeric arresters there are not any gas volume inside arresters in the structure due to polymeric materials are filled into the internal gas volume. The sealing integrity is related to safe operation of surge arrester, the prime failure reason of porcelain housed arresters is moisture ingress. In this paper, the sealing integrity of polymeric surge arresters is investigated with moisture multi-aging test and ingress test. The evaluation techniques are used to inspect the sealing integrity of polymeric arresters, including leakage current, surface temperature, reference voltage and dissipation factor.

For QTL analysis of agronomic traits based on cultivation of low and high altitude locations, BC1 F5 181 lines were developed from a cross of Tongil type Gayabyeo and japonica Chhomrong originated from Nepal. Plant materials were grown in both of low altitude area of Milyang, Korea and high altitude area of Khumaltar, Nepal. In QTLs analysis, a total of 42 QTLs were detected in days to flowering, culm length, panicle length, number of panicles/hill, panicle exertion, and spikelet ripening ratio. Although many of the QTLs were coincided between the two locations of Korea and Nepal, several QTLs were revealed as location specific in high altitude area of Khumaltar. Especially, the regions harboring marker RM489-RM14281 on chromo- some 3, RM5642-RM19049 on chromosome 5, and RM2854-RM6696 on chromosome 12 where QTLs were clustered and coincided between the two locations are considered as positive target regions for environmental independent traits. Furthermore, high rate of location specific QTLs such as panicle exertion and spikelet ripening ratio could be considered carefully for understanding the mechanism of cold tolerance based on cultivation of different altitude location.

<P>Rice tungro disease (RTD) is one of the destructive and prevalent diseases in the tropical region. RTD is caused by <I>Rice tungro spherical virus</I> (RTSV) and <I>Rice tungro bacilliform virus</I>. Cultivation of japonica rice (<I>Oryza sativa</I> L. ssp <I>japonica</I>) in tropical Asia has often been restricted because most japonica cultivars are sensitive to short photoperiod, which is characteristic of tropical conditions. Japonica1, a rice variety bred for tropical conditions, is photoperiod-insensitive, has a high yield potential, but is susceptible to RTD and has poor grain quality. To transfer RTD resistance into Japonica1, we made two backcrosses (BC) and 8 three-way crosses (3-WC) among Japonica1 and RTSV-resistant cultivars. Among 8,876 BC<SUB>1</SUB>F<SUB>2</SUB> and 3-WCF<SUB>2</SUB> plants, 342 were selected for photoperiod-insensitivity and good grain quality. Photoperiod-insensitive progenies were evaluated for RTSV resistance by a bioassay and marker-assisted selection (MAS), and 22 BC<SUB>1</SUB>F<SUB>7</SUB> and 3-WCF<SUB>7</SUB> lines were selected based on the results of an observational yield trial. The results demonstrated that conventional selection for photoperiod-insensitivity and MAS for RTSV resistance can greatly facilitate the development of japonica rice that is suitable for cultivation in tropical Asia.</P>
