In this paper, we propose the new bow-tie antenna design method, which realizes the wideband and high gain antenna element for the shared aperture antenna on airborne radar. In order to improve the common bow-tie antenna characteristics, we propose four improvement approaches. The details of improvement approaches are presented. We built the prototype array antenna composed of 64 elements designed, and demonstrated that it had significantimprovement on the antenna element gain over 6 to 18 GHz.

Hypercholesterolemia and hypertension are among the most important risk factors for cardiovascular (CV) disease. They are also important contributors to metabolic diseases including diabetes that further increase CV risk. Updated guidelines emphasize targeted reduction of overall CV risks but do not explicitly incorporate potential adverse metabolic outcomes that also influence CV health. Hypercholesterolemia and hypertension have synergistic deleterious effects on interrelated insulin resistance and endothelial dysfunction. Dysregulation of the renin-angiotensin system is an important pathophysiological mechanism linking insulin resistance and endothelial dysfunction to atherogenesis. Statins are the reference standard treatment to prevent CV disease in patients with hypercholesterolemia. Statins work best for secondary CV prevention. Unfortunately, most statin therapies dose-dependently cause insulin resistance, increase new onset diabetes risk and exacerbate existing type 2 diabetes mellitus. Pravastatin is often too weak to achieve target low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels despite having beneficial metabolic actions. Renin-angiotensin system inhibitors improve both endothelial dysfunction and insulin resistance in addition to controlling blood pressure. In this regard, combined statin-based and renin-angiotensin system (RAS) inhibitor therapies demonstrate additive/synergistic beneficial effects on endothelial dysfunction, insulin resistance, and other metabolic parameters in addition to lowering both cholesterol levels and blood pressure. This combined therapy simultaneously reduces CV events when compared to either drug type used as monotherapy. This is mediated by both separate and interrelated mechanisms. Therefore, statin-based therapy combined with RAS inhibitors is important for developing optimal management strategies in patients with hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, or obesity. This combined therapy can help prevent or treat CV disease while minimizing adverse metabolic consequences.
Improvement of Slow Wave Sleep Continuity by Mattress with Better Body Pressure Dispersal

Background and Objective This study evaluated the effects of a mattress with better body pressure dispersal in comparison to a control mattress on sleep quality. Methods In this randomized crossover study, 10 healthy young men slept in an experimental sleep room on either a functional mattress made from polyurethane, with a special four-layer three-dimensional structure, or a control mattress made from solid polyester wadding, which is a mattress commercially available in Japan. Polysomnography recordings were used to characterize sleep architecture, and the length of slow wave sleep (SWS) episodes and delta power density were calculated from the electroencephalography data and subjective sleep quality was evaluated by questionnaire they answered after waking. Results There were no significant differences in sleep latency, the total duration of each sleep stages, total sleep time, or sleep efficiency. Although the difference was subtle, delta power density significantly increased with the functional mattress. There was no difference in the total duration of SWS, but there were significantly fewer SWS episodes with the functional mattress (10.3 ± 1.8) than with the control mattress (16.9 ± 1.2) and longer SWS episode duration (10.9 ± 1.7 min) with the functional mattress than with the control mattress (5.6 ± 0.5 min). Conclusions It was suggested that the functional mattress lengthened SWS episode duration, and its fragmentation was effective in evaluating the sleep quality of healthy young individuals.

Background/Aims: Peyer`s patches (PPs) are aggregates of lymphoid follicles that are mainly located in the distal ileum; they play a major role in mucosal immunity. We recently reported that patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) have alterations in PPs that can be detected using narrow-band imaging with magnifying endoscopy (NBI-ME). However, the usefulness of NBI-ME in UC treatment as a whole is still unknown. Methods: We collected NBI-ME images of PPs from 67 UC patients who had undergone ileocolonoscopy. We evaluated changes in the villi using the “villi index,” which is based on three categories: irregular formation, hyperemia, and altered vascular network pattern. The patients were divided into two groups on the basis of villi index: low (L)- and high (H)-types. We then determined the correlation between morphological alteration of the PPs and various clinical characteristics. In 52 patients who were in clinical remission, we also analyzed the correlation between NBI-ME findings of PPs and clinical recurrence. Results: The time to clinical recurrence was significantly shorter in remissive UC patients with Htype PPs than in those with L-type PPs (P <0.01). Moreover, PP alterations were not correlated with age, sex, disease duration, clinical activity, endoscopic score, or extent of disease involvement. Multivariate analysis revealed that the existence of H-type PPs was an independent risk factor for clinical recurrence (hazard ratio, 3.3; P <0.01). Conclusions: UC patients with morphological alterations in PPs were at high risk of clinical relapse. Therefore, to predict the clinical course of UC, it may be useful to evaluate NBI-ME images of PPs. (Intest Res 2016;14:314-321)

Oxidation behavior of Fe-Ni alloys added by small amount of Ni was studied, under the exposure to the temperatures up to 1100℃, 1150℃, and 1200℃, respectively. The slope of mass change curve representing an oxidation rate was 1 or 2 up to 20 seconds and decreased to 1/2 after 20 seconds in a parabolic shape. The temperature of the initial stage of oxidation increased more quickly at the furnace inside than at the surface of the specimen, and its behavior was reversed due to oxidation heat after 20 seconds later. Oxide layer was mainly composed of FeO. And particle of Fe_3O_4 and Fe_2O_3 was distributed in FeO layer. The order of the composition ratio for the oxide was Fe_2O_3,·Fe_3O_4,·FeO at the oxide surface, FeO,·Fe_3O_4,·Fe_2O_3 at the internal oxide, and FeO,·Fe_3O_4,·Fe_2O_3 at the surface of metal after stripping oxide layer.
