Multi-step Internal Nitriding of Tungsten-titanium Alloys
Nagae Masahiro,Yoshio Tetsuo,Takada Jun,Hiraoka Yutaka,Takida Tomohiro 한국분말야금학회 2006 한국분말야금학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2006 No.1
Internally nitrided dilute W-Ti alloy specimens having a heavily deformed surface microstructure were prepared by a multi-step internal nitriding at 1573-2073 K. Primary nitriding below their recrystallization temperature induced a precipitation of ultrafine TiN particles. After secondary and tertiary nitriding, those precipitates grew into rod-like TiN with a length of 20-60 nm. The recrystallization temperature after nitriding was elevated above 2073 K. The yield strength at 1773 K obtained from nitrided W-0.5 mass% Ti alloy was about 5 times as large as that of the recrystallized specimen. DBTT of the nitrided alloys was about 373 K.

TZM alloy having elongated coarse-grain structure was developed by three-step internal nitriding treatment at 1423 to 1873 K in and subsequent recrystallization treatment at 2173 K in vacuum. Some specimens were subjected to re-nitriding treatment at 1873 K for 16 h. After the recrystallization treatment, aspect ratio (L/W) of grains for rolling direction was about 50 at the maximum. Yield stress obtained at 1773 K after re-nitriding treatment was about 6 times as large as that of recrystallized specimen. Re-nitriding was very effective in the improvement in strength of TZM alloy having elongated coarse-grain structure.

A 91-year-old man with chronic cognitive impairment underwent shunt embolization for portosystemic encephalopathy (PSE). He experienced intermittent episodes of impaired consciousness and decreased cognitive function and activities of daily living (ADL), for which Alzheimer disease was suspected. On admission, he was in a coma and PSE was diagnosed based on his high ammonia level and the computed tomography findings. After shunt embolization, the patient fully recovered from the impaired consciousness and experienced no recurrence. The patient’s Revised Hasegawa Dementia Scale and Mini-Mental State Examination scores improved significantly from 12 and 17 to 30 and 29 points, respectively. The Barthel Index score also improved from 55/100 to 85/100, suggesting a marked improvement in ADL. PSE progresses slowly in very old patients and may mimic the clinical course of Alzheimer disease but without liver enzyme abnormalities. Therefore, it should be distinguished in every dementia case.
THE MASS PROFILE OF ABELL 1689 FROM A LENSING ANALYSIS OF DEEP WIDE FIELD SUBARU IMAGES
UMETSU KEIICHI,BROADHURST TOM,TAKADA MASAHIRO,KONG Xu The Korean Astronomical Society 2005 Journal of The Korean Astronomical Society Vol.38 No.2
We used Subaru observations of A1689 (z = 0.183) to derive an accurate, model-independent mass profile for the entire cluster, r$\le$2Mpc/h, by combining magnification bias and distortion measurements. The projected mass profile steepens quickly with increasing radius, falling away to zero at r${\~}$1.0Mpc/h, well short of the anticipated virial radius. Our profile accurately matches onto the inner profile, r $\le$200kpc/ h, derived from deep HST / ACS images. The combined ACS and Subaru information is well fitted by an NFW profile with virial mass, $(1.93 \pm 0.20) {\times}10^{15} M_{\bigodot}$, and surprisingly high concentration, $C_{vir} = 13.7^{+1.4}_{-1.1}$, significantly larger than theoretically expected ($C_{vir} {\le}4$), corresponding to a relatively steep overall profile. These results are based on a reliable sample of background galaxies selected to be redder than the cluster E/SO sequence. By including the faint blue galaxy population a much smaller distortion signal is found, demonstrating that blue cluster members significantly dilute the true signal for r $\le$ 400kpc/ h. This contamination is likely to affect most weak lensing results to date.
Carbon Monoxide Gas Carburization Behavior of Molybdenum Materials
Hieda Koji,Nagae Masahiro,Yoshio Tetsuo,Takada Jun,Hiraoka Yutaka,Takida Tomohiro 한국분말야금학회 2006 한국분말야금학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2006 No.1
For pure Molybdenum carburized in mixed gases of argon and carbon monoxide, microstructural observations were carried out. X-ray diffraction analysis for carburized specimens revealed that brittle - layer hardly formed in the case of low carbon monoxide concentration. Fracture strength of the specimen carburized at 1673 K for 16 h is about 550 MPa higher than that of the un-carburized specimen. SEM observation revealed that with increasing carburizing temperature, the region demonstrating a transgranular fracture mode progressed towards the center of specimen. This result means that the grain boundaries were strengthened by the grain boundary diffusion of carbon and the strength of grain boundaries exceeded that of grain itself.

Background/Aims: Decreased trough levels of infliximab (TLI) and antibodies to infliximab (ATI) are associated with loss of response (LOR) in Crohn’s disease. Two prospective studies were conducted to determine whether TLI or ATI better correlates with LOR (Study 1), and whether TLI could become a predictor of mucosal healing (MH) (Study 2). Methods: Study 1 was conducted in 108 patients, including those with LOR and remission to compare ATI and TLI in discriminating the 2 conditions based on receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analyses. Study 2 involved 35 patients who were evaluated endoscopically. Results: In Study 1, there were no differences between the 2 assays in ROC curve analyses; the TLI cutoff value for LOR was 2.6 μg/mL (sensitivity, 70.9%; specificity, 79.2%), and the ATI cutoff value was 4.9 μg/mL (sensitivity, 65.5%; specificity, 67.9%). The AUROC (area under the ROC curve) of TLI was greater than that of ATI. AUROC was useful for discriminating between the 2 conditions. In Study 2, the TLI was significantly higher in the colonic MH group than in the non-MH group (2.7 μg/mL vs. 0.5 μg/mL, P=0.032). Conclusions: TLI is better than ATI for clinically diagnosing LOR, and a correlation was observed between TLI and colonic MH. (Intest Res 2018;16:223-232)

In order to overcome the recrystallization embrittlement and irradiation embrittlement of Mo, which are major problems for its fusion applications, internally nitrided Mo alloys were prepared by a novel multi-step internal nitriding. Neutron irradiation was performed in the Japan Material Testing Reactor (JMTR). After irradiation, nitrided Mo alloys exhibited ower ductile-brittle transition temperature than irradiated TZM. These results suggested that multi-step internal nitriding was effective to the improvement in the embrittlement by irradiation. Transmission electron microscope observation revealed that TiN particles precipitated by nitriding acted as a sink for irradiation-induced defects.
