Platelet antiaggregating activity of ginsenosides isolated from processed ginseng.
Lee, Jin Gyun,Lee, Yong Yook,Kim, Sun Young,Pyo, Jae Sung,Yun-Choi, Hye Sook,Park, Jeong Hill Govi-Verlag Pharmazeutischer Verlag [etc.] ; Verla 2009 PHARMAZIE Vol.64 No.9
<P>Four dammarane glycosides, namely ginsenosides Rk1 (1), Rg5 (2), 20(S)-Rg3 (3), and 20(R)-Rg3 (4), isolated from a new processed ginseng, were evaluated for their inhibitory activity against platelet aggregation induced by adenosine diphosphate (ADP), collagen, arachidonic acid (AA) and U46619 (thromboxane A2 mimetic agent). Ginsenoside Rk1 and Rg5 inhibited AA-induced platelet aggregation in a dose dependent manner. Their activity against AA-induced platelet aggregation were found to be 8-22 fold higher than that of a known antiplatelet drug acetylsalicylic acid (ASA). They also inhibited U46619-induced platelet aggregation. Ginsenoside 20(S)-Rg3 and 20(R)-Rg3 showed mild inhibitory activity against AA and U46619-induced aggregation.</P>
Isolation of Gamma-Induced Rice Mutants with Increased Tolerance to Salt by Anther Culture
Lee, In-Sok,Kim, Dong-Sub,Hyun, Do-Yoon,Lee, Sang-Jae,Song, Hi-Sup,Lim, Yong-Pyo,Lee, Young-Il The Korean Society of Plant Biotechnology 2003 JOURNAL OF PLANT BIOTECHNOLOGY Vol. No.
Doubled haploids have long been recognized as a valuable tool in plant breeding since it not only offers the quickest method of advancing heterozygous breeding lines to homozygosity, but also increased the selection efficiency over conventional procedures due to better discrimination between genotypes within any one generation. Salt tolerant mutants were obtained in rice the variety, 'Hawsungbyeo', through in vitro mutagenesis of in vitro cultured anther-derived calli. Various doses (30, 50, 70 and 90 Gy) of gamma ray were applied to investigate the effect of radiation on callus formation on medium containing 1% NaCl, green plant regeneration, frequency of selected doubled haploid mutants and of the salt tolerant screen. It was demonstrated that the dose of 30 and 50 Gy gamma rays had significant effects on callus formation, regeneration and selection of salt tolerance. No tolerant lines were obtained from non-mutagenized cultures. From gamma ray irradiated cultures, five tolerant lines ($M_2$generation) at germination stage and 13 tolerant lines ($M_3$genoration) at seedling stage were obtained. The frequency of salt tolerant mutants indicates that anther culture applied in connection with gamma rays is an effective way to improve salt tolerance.

Sweet potato cells derived from Yulmi were isolated from embryogenic callus and irradiated with 50 Gy dose. Resistant cells were selected on a MS medium containing 1.0 mM S-aminoethyl-L-cysteine (AEC). This level of AEC approximately inhibits non-selected wild type cells. The callus resistant to this analog of lysine was subcultured for 30 days in absence of AEC to proliferate. The three resistant calli (AR-1, AR-2 and AR-3) with better growth were divvied into 0.5~1mm diameter and placed on MS medium with 0, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 and 1.0 mM AEC. There are considerable growth difference between control callus and AEC resistant callus on the AEC-medium. The selected calli were placed on the hormone-free medium for regeneration. Three plantlets, five plantlets and six plantlets were recovered from AR-1, AR-2 and AR-3 calli, respectively. Each two regenerants in AR-1, AR-2 and AR3 were randomly selected for RAPD and SDS PAGE analysis. RAPD polymorph isms between Yulmi and AEC resistant plant from irradiated calli were detected in several Wako primers. Also, it was identified that two AEC resistant plants had higher protein than the original variety Yulmi.
Selection and Characterizations of Gamma Radiation-Induced Submergence Tolerant Line in Rice
Lee In-Sok,Kim Dong-Sub,hua Jin,Kang Si-Yong,Song Hi-Sup,Lee Sang-Jae,Lim Yong-Pyo,Lee Young-Il The Korean Society of Plant Biotechnology 2003 Plant molecular biology and biotechnology research Vol.5 No.3
The combination of a radiation technique with an in vitro culture system was appiled to develop submergence tolerant rice. The 3,000 $M_3$ lines with an average 80 percent of fertile grain were utilized for the selection of submergence tolerance. Salt tolerant lines were selected based on high plant height, root length and root number after submergence in plastic pots. Of the lines tested, the tolerant line (403-6) showed a dramatic difference in morphological traits under submergence compared to its original variety (Dongjinbyeo). It was suggested that genetic variations between the original variety and $M_3$-403-6 did exist. The levels of $\alpha$-amylase and alcohol dehydrogenase activities were significantly increased in the mutant line compared to its original variety. The mutant with greater tolerance showed less electrolyte leakage indicating a greater membrane integrity and better survival. Also, this line was much more resistant to a salt stress of $1.25\%$ than the original variety. The proline level of the line was significantly (p<0.01> higher than that of the original variety. The relationships between the inhibition of growth caused by stress and the physiological changes in the plant cell were discussed.
Selection of data set with fuzzy entropy function
Lee, Sang-Hyuk,Cheon, Seong-Pyo,Kim, Sung shin Korean Institute of Intelligent Systems 2004 한국지능시스템학회논문지 Vol.14 No.5
In this literature, the selection of data set among the universe set is carried out with the fuzzy entropy function. By the definition of fuzzy entropy, the fuzzy entropy function is proposed and the proposed fuzzy entropy function is proved through the definition. The proposed fuzzy entropy function calculate the certainty or uncertainty value of data set, hence we can choose the data set that satisfying certain bound or reference. Therefore the reliable data set can be obtained by the proposed fuzzy entropy function. With the simple example we verify that the proposed fuzzy entropy function select reliable data set.
