88 Olympic highway was constructed for the interaction between Youngnam, south eastern and Honam region, south western part of Korea. Both regions are notorious for regionalism and regional conflicts. Contrary to the attempts, interactions between two regions are not so many as expected. Followed the construction, several developmental proposals were provided to develop lagging region along the highway. But the development plans were not implemented because planers' point of view ignored this region in terms of input to output ratio. It is believed that regional conflicts are mainly derived from the biased regional development policy, that is, elite group of central government who are from Youngnam region carried major economic development decisions, investments on industrial estates and infrastructures in favor of their region, so that South western region has been historically neglected development in line with recruits of national elites. This research puts hypothesis that development of intervening small cities→increasing flows of goods and people→ increasing communications → reducing regionalism and regional conflicts between two regions. Taegu and Kwangju are regional centers of both regions and the interactions between two centers have been gradually reduced as time goes by. It is mainly due to the distance between two metropolitan cities, the lack of complimentary industries, and inactivating intervene cities along the highway. Both metropolitan cities have kept so much dependent relationship on national conter, Seoul, which hurdles interactions of regional levels. To make the worse, surrounding agricultural region along the highway is the worst place for out migration because of no industries, poor agriculture, and poor opportunities of education, and poor qualities of living conditions. Regarding to local resources of the cities are unskilled labor, sight seeing resources of mountains. The former researches of development about the 88 high way region were pessimistic in terms of economic self generating power. I argue that central government investment should have been increased for reducing regional conflicts and regionalism rather than simply economic efficiency considerations. We keep in mind that the more regional conflicts of regionalism make the worse national economy. The growth of intervening cities, Namwon and Kuchang, could enhance flows of goods and people between two metropolitan cities, Taegu and Kwangju.

Virus infections of the honeybee(Apis mellifera) have been increasingly investigated during the last decade. In general, honeybee viruses are widespread and most of them persist as inapparent infections. We screened honeybee colonies for the presence of several bee viruses, including deformed wing virus(DWV), black queen virus(BQCV), Kashmir bee virus(KBV), Israeli acute paralysis virus (IAPV), sacbrood virus(SBV), acute bee paralysis virus(ABPV), using uniplex RT-PCR. Frequently simultaneous infections with different viruses are diagnosed in seemingly healthy bee colonies. Therefore we developed a multiplex RT-PCR assay for the simultaneous detection of multiple bee viruses.
Females and Barriers to Work–Family Balance: A Case Study of Casino Dealers

A positive work–family balance (WFB) can enhance service quality and facilitate job satisfaction among staff members, thereby reducing absenteeism and turnover rate. Female participation in hospitality is one of the significant changes in the last century. Significant progress has been achieved by women with their increase movements in their occupations. The proportion of female dealers in Macau has increased. If females spend additional time in their job, they will often spend less time for their family and social life. This condition is often considered ‘win–lose’ outcomes and hardly achieves WFB. This study investigates the features of quality WFB of female dealers in a casino hotel in Macau. Long work hours, shift duties, demanding customers and a stressful environment are taken-for-granted in the casino business and could lead to an unbalanced WFB. This qualitative study involves face-to-face interviews with 25 casino hotel female dealers from five major large casino hotels in Macau. Content analysis is used to elaborate the female employees’ perception of WFB and identify the challenges and barriers in achieving WFB. Findings show that human resources should provide additional support to eliminate the concern of females in balancing their family and job security. Recommendations will be formulated in the study
Rapid Detection Methods of Korean Sacbrood Virus

Sacbrood virus (SBV) is one of the most serious honeybee viruses. The virus causes failure to pupate and death in both larvae and adult bees. Recently, Korean Sacbrood virus (KSBV) caused a great loss in Korean honeybee (Apis cerana) colonies. Although KSBV shows high homology with SBV strains, it has unique motifs and causes different symptoms. Therefore, a simple, sensitive and specific method for detecting KSBV is needed urgently. In this study a reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP) and a novel micro PCR-based detection method, termed ultra-rapid real-time PCR (URRT-PCR) were applied for rapid detection for korean sacbrood virus (KSBV) from honeybees (Apis cerana) infected with SBV in Korea. The LAMP could be detect the virus in RT-LAMP reactions containing 102copies of pBX-KSBV within 30 min, which was 10 times more sensitive than a RT-PCR assay. The URRT-PCR showed high sensitivities which were able to detect 10 copies in the standard assays. In the application of URRT-PCR detection to an KSBV-infected honeybee, the shortest detection time was 10 min 12 sec, including reverse transcription. In addition, these methods could be distinguished between KSBV and other closely-related SBV strains, These rapid methods were rapid molecular-based diagnostic tools and useful tool for the rapid and sensitive diagnosis of KSBV infection of honeybees.

<P>Characterization of 227 <I>Streptococcus suis</I> strains isolated from pigs during 2010 to 2013 showed high levels of resistance to clindamycin (95.6%), tilmicosin (94.7%), tylosin (93.8%), oxytetracycline (89.4%), chlortetracycline (86.8%), tiamulin (72.7%), neomycin (70.0%), enrofloxacin (56.4%), penicillin (56.4%), ceftiofur (55.9%), and gentamicin (55.1%). Resistance to tetracyclines, macrolides, aminoglycosides, and fluoroquinolone was attributed to the <I>tet</I> gene, <I>erm</I>(B), <I>erm</I>(C), <I>mph</I>(C), and <I>mef</I>(A) and/or <I>mef</I>(E) genes, <I>aph(3′)-IIIa</I> and <I>aac(6′)-Ie-aph(2″)-Ia</I> genes, and single point mutations in the quinolone resistance-determining region of ParC and GyrA, respectively.</P>
Oxidation of Rosmarinic Acid Catalyzed by Mushroom Tyrosinase

Rosmarinic acid isolated from the Perilla frutescens (L.) was found to possess mushroom tyrosinase (EC 1.14.18.1) inhibitory activities with an $IC_{50}$ of $4.0{\mu}M$. However, rosmarinic acid was oxidized as a substrate catalyzed by tyrosinase. The oxidation kinetics of mushroom tyrosinase by rosmarinic acid measured by spectrophotometic and polarographic methods showed $K_m=166.8{\mu}M$, $225.1{\mu}M$ and $V_{max}=16.26{\mu}M$/min, 3.05 mg $O_2$/L/min, respectively.
