      • Design of an Assistance Robot for Patients Suffering from Paraplegia

        Shakir Khan,Muhammad Fahad Zeb,Nouman Ghafoor,Saad Jamshed,Muhammad Raheel Afzal,Amre Eizad 제어로봇시스템학회 2015 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2015 No.10

The people with disabled lower limbs find it difficult to lead an independent life and the lack of upper body exercise may lead to disuse ailment. Various studies have shown that both children and adults benefit substantially from access to a means of independent mobility. Independent mobility is a dream for every person with some or the other physical disability especially in the case of paraplegics. In the research presented in this paper, an assistance platform was developed to help the paraplegic and elderly people by providing the ability to stand-up and move about. Virtual prototype technology was used to make the design and development of the robot more efficient using Solid-works™. The device developed may be used for rehabilitation of people recovering from extended periods of limb disuse and for paraplegic patients. Although some commercialized training machines and some developed lower-limb rehabilitation robots can perform adequate motion functions during lower limb training programs but the weight, size and cost of these devices limits their possibilities of use. In contrast, the proposed design has the potential to be used among the middle socio-economic class as a product in daily household works of the paraplegic patients.

      • Study Factors for Student Performance Applying Data Mining Regression Model Approach

Khan, Shakir International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2021 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.21 No.2

In this paper, we apply data mining techniques and machine learning algorithms using R software, which is used to predict, here we applied a regression model to test some factor on the dataset for which we assumed that it effects student performance. Model was built on an existing dataset which contains many factors and the final grades. The factors tested are the attention to higher education, absences, study time, parent's education level, parent's jobs, and the number of failures in the past. The result shows that only study time and absences can affect the students' performance. Prediction of student academic performance helps instructors develop a good understanding of how well or how poorly the students in their classes will perform, so instructors can take proactive measures to improve student learning. This paper also focuses on how the prediction algorithm can be used to identify the most important attributes in a student's data.

Problems and Benefits of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) for Local People in Pakistan: A Critical Review

        Shakir Ullah,Usman Khan,Khalil Ur Rahman,Aman Ullah 경남대학교 극동문제연구소 2021 ASIAN PERSPECTIVE Vol.45 No.4

This study provides a critical literature review of the benefits and problems associated with one of the largest Chinese- funded development projects, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), with particular focus on the implications of this project for local people in Pakistan. CPEC is one of the most significant development projects in Pakistan, covering infrastructure, agriculture, and energy cooperation. Although some studies have examined challenges and problems brought about by CPEC, the majority of them fail to examine specific localities and the Pakistani communities that have been impacted by the project. Hence, most of the investigations have reported general development impacts rather than indicating whether and how CPEC has brought either benefits or problems to local people. In examining previously published studies on CPEC, this essay highlights gaps in research, especially from anthropological and sociological perspectives, with the goal of encouraging further studies from the vantage point of the local communities regarding development projects in Pakistan.

On *-bimultipliers, Generalized *-biderivations and Related Mappings

Ali, Shakir,Khan, Mohammad Salahuddin Department of Mathematics 2011 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.51 No.3

In this paper we dene the notions of left *-bimultiplier, *-bimultiplier and generalized *-biderivation, and to prove that if a semiprime *-ring admits a left *-bimultiplier M, then M maps R ${\times}$ R into Z(R). In Section 3, we discuss the applications of theory of *-bimultipliers. Further, it was shown that if a semiprime *-ring R admits a symmetric generalized *-biderivation G : R ${\times}$ R ${\rightarrow}$ R with an associated nonzero symmetric *-biderivation R ${\times}$ R ${\rightarrow}$ R, then G maps R ${\times}$ R into Z(R). As an application, we establish corresponding results in the setting of $C^*$-algebra.

On n-skew Lie Products on Prime Rings with Involution

Ali, Shakir,Mozumder, Muzibur Rahman,Khan, Mohammad Salahuddin,Abbasi, Adnan Department of Mathematics 2022 Kyungpook mathematical journal Vol.62 No.1

Let R be a *-ring and n ≥ 1 be an integer. The objective of this paper is to introduce the notion of n-skew centralizing maps on *-rings, and investigate the impact of these maps. In particular, we describe the structure of prime rings with involution '*' such that *[x, d(x)]n ∈ Z(R) for all x ∈ R (for n = 1, 2), where d : R → R is a nonzero derivation of R. Among other related results, we also provide two examples to prove that the assumed restrictions on our main results are not superfluous.

Expression and cDNA Cloning of klp-12 Gene Encoding an Ortholog of the Chicken Chromokinesin , Mediating Chromosome Segregation in Caenorhabditis elegans

        Ali, M . Yusuf,Khan, M . L . A .,Shakir, M . A .,Kobayashi, K . Fukami,Nishikawa, Ken,Siddiqui, Shahid S . 생화학분자생물학회 2001 BMB Reports Vol.33 No.2

In eukaryotes, chromosomes undergo a series of complex and coordinated movements during cell division. The kinesin motor proteins, such as the chicken Chromokinesin, are known to bind DNA and transport chromosomes on spindle microtubles. We previously cloned a family of retrograde C-terminus kinesins in Caenorhabditts elegans that mediate chromosomal movement during embryonic development. Here we report the cloning of a C. elegans klp-12 cDNA, encoding an ortholog of chicken Chromokinesin and mouse KIF4. The KLP-12 protein contains 1609 amino acid and harbors two leucine zipper motifs. The in situ RNA hybridization in embryonic stages shows that the klp-12 gene is expressed during the entire embryonic development. The RNA interference assay reveals that, similar to the role of Chromokinesin, klp-12 functions in chromosome segregation. These results support the notion that during mitosis both types, the anterograde N-terminus kinesins such as KLP-12 and the retrograde C- terminus kinesins, such as KLP-3, KLP-15, KLP-16, and KLP-17, may coordinate chromosome assembly at the metaphase plate and chromosomal segregation towards the spindle poles in C. elegans.

Aamir Razaq,Asim Ali Khan,Unsa Shakir,Asim Arshad 한국전기전자재료학회 2018 Transactions on Electrical and Electronic Material Vol.19 No.5

In the era of modern disposable electronic technology, fl exible substrate materials are excessive in demand due to foldable, bendable and stretchable choices. This paper reviews the research undertaken on fl exible substrates particularly employed inhigh-tech applications of radio frequency and antenna design technologies. Irrespective of traditional applications, naturalfi brils based substrates are considered most promising candidates as substrates for next-generation electronic applicationsdue to abundant, low profi le, light-weight, fl exible and environment safe characteristics. This paper also presents a comprehensivestudy of the design and methods that have been applied to use mentioned materials in radio frequency applications. Several challenges are highlighted in the large-scale production and deployment of these technologies in real-world systems.

      • Diadzein ameliorates 5-fluorouracil-induced intestinal mucositis by suppressing oxidative stress and inflammatory mediators in rodents

        Atiq, Ayesha,Shal, Bushra,Naveed, Muhammad,Khan, Adnan,Ali, Jawad,Zeeshan, Sara,Al-Sharari, Shakir D.,Kim, Yeong Shik,Khan, Salman Elsevier 2019 european journal of pharmacology Vol.843 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) is one of the most commonly prescribed anti-cancer agent. However, its use is associated with several debilitating adverse effects such as intestinal mucositis (IM) and myelosuppression. Oxidative stress and inflammation are major contributors in the development of mucositis. Diadzein is known for its potent anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative activities from decades. The present study focused on investigating the effects of diadzein on intestinal mucositis induced by 5-FU by mainly focusing on oxidative stress and inflammatory markers in mice. Mucositis was induced in mice by administration of 5-FU (50 mg/kg, i.p.), once daily for three days and diadzein (1, 5, 10 mg/kg) was administered once daily for seven days. Diadzein pretreatment was found to reduce the severity of mucosal injury in a dose-dependent manner. Diadzein significantly reversed weight loss, relieved diarrhea, and improved histopathological deformities associated with inflammation. Moreover, diadzein remarkably improved the intestinal wall histopathology by reducing inflammatory mediators infiltration and prevented suppression of antioxidants (glutathione, glutathione sulfo-transferase, and catalase) by 5-FU administration. Furthermore, nitrite production in intestinal tissue was reduced by diadzein consistent with the observed modulation of inflammatory markers. Additionally, diadzein also improved the amended microflora profile, by reducing the number of pathogenic bacteria and increasing the abundance of probiotics. Taken together, the behavioral, biochemical and histological outcomes of the present study demonstrates that diadzein has significant anti-mucositis properties in 5-FU induced mucositis model, and the attenuative potential of diadzein might be due to inhibition of oxidative stress and inflammatory mediators.</P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>
