A simple, rapid, practical and sensitive spectofluorimetric method was developed for the determination of trace amount of heparin (Hep). Under the Optimum conditions, we studied the interaction between NFLX-Ce3+-Hep complex by using absorption and fluorescence spectra. It was observed that Hep remarkably enhance the fluorescence intensity of the NFLX-Ce3+ complex at λ = 356 nm in the buffer solution of pH = 7.60 and the enhancement effect is shown to relate with the concentration of Hep. The linear range and detection limit for the determination of Hep was obtained. By the Rosenthal graphic method, the association constant (K) and binding numbers (N) of Hep with probe were investigated. This method is relatively free of interference from coexisting substances and successfully applied for the determination of heparin in heparin sodium injection samples. A suitable mechanism of fluorescence enhancement between NFLX-Ce3+ and the NFLX-Ce3+-Hep systems were proposed and discussed.
EFFECT OF SOLVENT POLARITY ON THE FLUORESCENCE QUENCHING OF ORGANIC LIQUID SCINTILLATORS BY ANILINE
Shailaja, M.K.,Hanagodimath, S.M.,Kadadevarmath, J.S.,Chikkur, G.C. Korean Society of Photoscience 1999 Journal of Photosciences Vol.6 No.4
The fluorescence quenching of 2-phenyl-5-(4-biphenylyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole (PBD) and 1,4-di-[2-(5-phenyloxazolyl)]-benzene (POPOP) by aniline has been carried out in different solvent mixtures of dioxane and acetonitrile at room temperature. The quenching is found to be appreciable and a positive deviation from linearity was observed in the Stern-Volmer plot in all the solvent mixtures. Various rate constants for the quenching processes have been determined using a modified Stern-Volmer equation. From the positive deviations of linear Stern-Volmer plots and the dependence of rate constants on the polarity of the solvents, it has been concluded that both static and dynamic quenching processes are responsible for the observed positive deviation in the Stern-Volmer plot.
Building on Bandung: What Does Cooperation Do for Regional Engagement?
Shailaja Fennell 서울대학교 통일평화연구원 2022 Asian Journal of Peacebuilding Vol.10 No.1
This article examines the outcomes of collective forms of engagement in the ASEANregion. By examining how convening power in these south-south engagementshas worked since the Bandung Conference, the paper reviews how the mode ofconsensus building adopted in 1955 has been channelled into regional cooperation. In particular, the paper considers the implications of these forms of cooperationfor the consensus building that characterizes ASEAN today. The paper uses theprocesses evident in the ASEAN Development Outlook to set out the consequencesof these findings for how the UN system can set out more effective criteria for globalSouth cooperation. This has direct implications for institutional mechanisms foradvancing capacity and expertise in new forms of cooperation between the globalNorth and global South.

Occupational asthma and related respiratory diseases
Mahajan, Shailaja G,Mehta, Anita A Kyung Hee Oriental Medicine Research Center 2006 Oriental pharmacy and experimental medicine Vol.6 No.4
Epidemiological evidences and clinical as well as experimental observations have suggested a link between asthma and occupations. This relationship also involves other aspects like nonimmunologic exposures in the environment that can increase the chance of developing work related asthma and respiratory diseases. The purpose of this pamphlet is to supply information of work related diseases, which will give patients suffering with asthma, an intelligent understanding of their disease, and thus stimulate their interest so that they will cooperate more readily with their allergist. Recognizing the symptoms, causes, risk factors, diagnosis and treatment is an important part of managing occupational asthma and related diseases, so that it helps in decline of this rapidly increasing prevalence throughout the world.
Robust Control for Seeker Scan Loop using Sliding Modes
Dharmveer,Shailaja Kurode,Prasad Parkhi,Bhagyashri Tamhane 제어로봇시스템학회 2012 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2012 No.10
This paper presents robust control of seeker system used in missile target scanning and tracking. The mathematical model for seeker system is considered. A sliding mode controller (SMC) is designed to compensate uncertain coupling effect and external disturbances during scan phase. The model of the plant is based on first-principle method. The dynamic equations of motion are formulated with the assumption that the seeker system is a rigid body with no mass imbalance. These equations of motion are considered in cascade with DC motor equations which provides the actuating torque to the gimbal axes of the seeker system. The performance of the controller is validated in simulations.
Simultaneous State and Disturbance Estimation for Seeker System using Sliding Modes
Bhagyashri Tamhane,Shailaja Kurode,Prasad Parkhi,Dharmveer 제어로봇시스템학회 2012 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2012 No.10
In this paper simultaneous estimation of states and disturbance for seeker system of a missile using sliding mode observer (SMO) has been proposed. The modeling of the plant is done by classical method and the complete seeker system has been simulated for generation of spiral scan loop with control input provided by a simple state feedback controller. An extended state observer using sliding modes is designed to estimate the system states and the total lumped disturbances acting on the system. The estimated disturbance takes into account the disturbance due to cross coupling in the gimbal system and externally added sinusoidal disturbance in input channel. Simulations verify that the output estimation error is made zero in finite time due to sliding modes and the estimated disturbance is in close agreement with actual disturbance.
Robust Motion Control using Novel First Order Sliding Modes
Akash Panhale,Shailaja Kurode 제어로봇시스템학회 2020 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2020 No.10
Sliding Mode Control (SMC) assures finite time convergence of sliding variables and constrains it to zero thereafter leading to robustness with respect to internal and external disturbances during sliding. This is achieved by discontinuous term in the control. The discontinuity in the control leads to undesirable chattering which limits its practical applicability. This paper proposes novel simple chatter-free first order sliding mode control philosophy. The mathematical proof of the proposed algorithm is illustrated. The investigated algorithm is validated in simulation for the motion control system.
