First Record of Macrolygus (Heteroptera: Miridae) from the Korean Peninsula

The genus Macrolygus Yasunaga, 1992 is the genus includes two Asian species. This genus described by Yasunaga at 1992, with a single type species, M. viridulus. Thereafter, Zheng and Lu (2002) reported the second species, M. torreyae from China. In this poster, We report M. viridulus for the first time from Korea.

<P>Ionic liquids (ILs) are often considered to be green solvents based on their unusual stability, although their toxicity to living organisms has become an emerging issue based on a number of recent studies. We assume that one of the main reasons for this high level of cell toxicity is the molecular interactions between ILs and cell membranes. In this study, we used model cells to demonstrate that ILs can incorporate into lipid membranes, resulting in the perturbation of membrane structure. We employed various methods to elucidate the molecular interactions between cell membranes and ILs. This study aimed to identify metabolic biomarkers and investigate changes in intestinal microbiota in the feces of healthy participants following administration of Lactococcus lactis GEN-001. GEN-001 is a single-strain L. lactis strain isolated from the gut of a healthy human volunteer. The study was conducted as a parallel, randomized, phase 1, open design trial. Twenty healthy Korean males were divided into five groups according to the GEN-001 dosage and dietary control. Groups A, B, C, and D1 received 1, 3, 6, and 9 GEN-001 capsules (1 × 1011 colony forming units), respectively, without dietary adjustment, whereas group D2 received 9 GEN-001 capsules with dietary adjustment. All groups received a single dose. Fecal samples were collected 2 days before GEN-001 administration to 7 days after for untargeted metabolomics and gut microbial metagenomic analyses; blood samples were collected simultaneously for immunogenicity analysis. Levels of phenylalanine, tyrosine, cholic acid, deoxycholic acid, and tryptophan were significantly increased at 5–6 days after GEN-001 administration when compared with predose levels. Compared with predose, the relative abundance (%) of Parabacteroides and Alistipes significantly decreased, whereas that of Lactobacillus and Lactococcus increased; Lactobacillus and tryptophan levels were negatively correlated. A single administration of GEN-001 shifted the gut microbiota in healthy volunteers to a more balanced state as evidenced by an increased abundance of beneficial bacteria, including Lactobacillus, and higher levels of the metabolites that have immunogenic properties.
Systematic study of the genus Athetis (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae: Xyleninae) from the Korea

The genus Athetis is a cosmopolitan genus of the subtribe Athetina (Noctuidae: Xyleninae (Fibiger & Lafontaine 2005; Lafontaine & Fibiger 2006). It comprises about 211 described species from the world to date, with about 150 species known from South Palaearctic and Oriental Regions (Kononenko 2005). In the Korean peninsula, 12 species was reviewed by Kononenko & Han (2007). In this study, key to the Korean Athetis species is provided with the photos of adults and genitalia for each species.

Halyomorpha halys(Stål, 1855) (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), also known as Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB), is a recent invasive pest in America and Europe. It originated from East Asia such as Korea, Japan, China, and Taiwan. Genus Trissolcus (Hymenoptera: Scelionidae) which is regarded as important species for biological control of H. halys, was described 6 species previously in Korea. But biology and taxonomic character of this genus is poorly known in Korea. Herein, we report two species from Korea, T. japonicus Ashmead, 1904 and T. plautiae Watanabe, 1954. We have investigated the morphological characters and COI sequence, and conducted an experiment about parasitic preference on BMSB's egg. Morphological key and picture of two species, and result of sequence investigation and experiment will be presented.
