An investigation on the habitation of Callipogon relictus Semenov was carried out in Gwangneung forest, Korea and Ussurisky nature reserve, Russia. During the investigation period (2007–2018), a total of 25 emergence holes, 10 pupal chambers, 10 adults, and two larvae of C. relictus were identified in Gwangneung forest. In this presentation, we provide biological information on habitation of C. relictus in Gwangneung forest by comparison and combination of survey results in Ussurisky nature reserve, in 2015 and 2018. In addition, the distribution range of C. relictus is also reviewed in the Korean Peninsula with a new location.

<P>Electro-spun nanofiber web is highly attractive as a separator for lithium ion batteries because of its high electrical properties. In moving toward wider battery applications of the nanofiber separators, a deeper understanding on the structure and property relationship is highly meaningful. In this regard, we prepared electro-spun poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVdF) webs with various thicknesses (10.5 similar to 100 mu m) and investigated their structures and electrochemical performances. As the thickness of the web is decreased, a decrease of porosity and an increase of pore size are resulted in. For the 10.5 mu m-thick separator, a minor short-circuit was detected, stressing the importance of reducing pore-size on prevention of short-circuit. However, above the thickness of 21 Am, well-connected, submicron-sized pores are generated, and, with lowering the separator thickness, discharge capacity and rate capability are enhanced owing to the lowered area-specific resistance.</P>

<P>Abstract</P><P>An investigation on the habitation of <I>Callipogonrelictus</I> Semenov, 1899 in Gwangneung forest was carried out, where the Korea National Arboretum is located. In an investigation spanning the last eleven years (2007–2017), 22 emergence holes, nine pupal chambers, six adults, and two larvae of <I>C.relictus</I> were identified. In this study, biological information about habitation of <I>C.relictus</I> is provided by comparing and combining the results of this investigation with a survey conducted in Ussurisky Nature Reserve, Russia, in 2015. The distribution is also reviewed to include the Korean Peninsula and a new location of South Korea is added to the distribution for <I>C.relictus</I>.</P>

<P><I>Background</I>. Microarrays enable high-throughput screening (HTS) of disease-related molecules, including important signaling proteins/peptides and small molecules that are in low abundance. In this study, we developed a multiplex blood bank screening platform, referred to as the Hi3-1 assay, for simultaneous detection of human immunodeficiency virus 1/2 (HIV 1/2) and hepatitis C virus (HCV). <I>Methods</I>. The Hi3-1 assay was tested using four panels (Panel 1, <I>n</I> = 4,581 patient samples; Panel 2, <I>n</I> = 15 seroconversion samples; Panel 3, <I>n</I> = 4 performance samples; and Panel 4, <I>n</I> = 251 purchased positive control samples), and the results were collected by the Department of Laboratory Medicine, Korea University Medical College, Republic of Korea. The present study compares the sensitivity of the multiplex detection platform for both HIV and HCV using a sol-gel based microarray, which was based on a reference test (Architect HIV Ag/Ab Combo and Architect anti-HCV assays), in Korean patients. <I>Results</I>. The sensitivity of the multiplex detection platform for both HIV and HCV was 100%, and the specificity was 99.96% for HIV and 99.76% for HCV, which is equivalent to that of the reference test. <I>Conclusion</I>. We have successfully applied a novel screening technology to multiplex HIV and HCV diagnoses in a blood bank screening test.</P>
