Respiratory inflammation is a frequent and fatal pathologic state encountered in veterinary medicine. Although diluted bee venom (dBV) has potent anti-inflammatory effects, the clinical use of dBV is limited to several chronic inflammatory diseases. The present study was designed to propose an acupoint dBV treatment as a novel therapeutic strategy for respiratory inflammatory disease. Experimental pleurisy was induced by injection of carrageenan into the left pleural space in mouse. The dBV was injected into a specific lung meridian acupoint (LU-5) or into an arbitrary non-acupoint located near the midline of the back in mouse. The inflammatory responses were evaluated by analyzing inflammatory indicators in pleural exudate. The dBV injection into the LU-5 acupoint significantly suppressed the carrageenan-induced increase of pleural exudate volume, leukocyte accumulation, and myeloperoxidase activity. Moreover, dBV acupoint treatment effectively inhibited the production of interleukin 1 beta, but not tumor necrosis factor alpha in the pleural exudate. On the other hand, dBV treatment at non-acupoint did not inhibit the inflammatory responses in carrageenan-induced pleurisy. The present results demonstrate that dBV stimulation in the LU-5 lung meridian acupoint can produce significant anti-inflammatory effects on carrageenan-induced pleurisy suggesting that dBV acupuncture may be a promising alternative medicine therapy for respiratory inflammatory diseases.

웜은 사람의 개입 없이 취약점이 존재하는 네트워크 서비스에 대한 공격을 시행하고 사용자가 원치 않는 패킷을 복사 및 전파하는 악성코드이다. 기존의 웜 탐지 기법은 주로 시그너쳐 기반의 방식이 주를 이루었으나 조기탐지의 한계로 인해 최근에는 웜 전파의 행동 특성을 감지하는 방식이 각광 받고 있다. 본 논문에서는 웜 행동 주기와 감염 체인으로 대표되는 웜의 행위적 특성을 탐지하고 대응할 수 있는 분산 웜 탐지 및 방지 방법을 제안하고, 제안된 탐지 및 방지 모델 적용 시 웜의 감염 속도가 감소되는 현상을 시뮬레이션을 통해 증명한다. 제안하는 웜 탐지모델은 규모가 큰 시그너쳐 데이타베이스가 필요하지 않을 뿐더러 컴퓨팅 파워가 비교적 적게 소요되므로, 개인용 컴퓨터 뿐 아니라 유비쿼터스와 모바일 환경과 같이 개별 기기가 낮은 컴퓨팅 파워를 가지는 상황에도 적합하다. A worm is a malware that propagates quickly from host to host without any human intervention. Need of early worm detection has changed research paradigm from signature based worm detection to the behavioral based detection. To increase effectiveness of proposed solution, in this paper we present mechanism of detection and prevention of worm in distributed fashion. Furthermore, to minimize the worm destruction; upon worm detection we propagate the possible attack alert to neighboring nodes in secure and organized manner. Considering worm behavior, our proposed mechanism detects worm cycles and infection chains to detect the sudden change in network performance. And our model neither needs to maintain a huge database of signatures nor needs to have too much computing power, that is why it is very light and simple. So, our proposed scheme is suitable for the ubiquitous environment. Simulation results illustrate better detection and prevention which leads to the reduction of infection rate.
Mechanism of Radioresistance Induced by Low-Dose Irradiation

림프구와 림프종에 고준위 방사선(8 Gy)을 조사했을 때, 저준위 방사선을 먼저 조사한 경우 세포 생존률이 3.7배 증가하는 것이 관찰되었다. 세포생존률은 고준위 방사선 조사로 발생되는 산소라디칼의 제거, 변성된 유전자와 단백질의 제거, 변화된 세포의 제거 등으로 증가할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 저준위 방사선 조사로 유도되는 방사선 저항기전을 알아보기 위하여, 고준위 방사선 조사시 발생되는 산소 라디칼을 제거하는 효소들의 활성과 방사선 보호제로 알려진 glutathione의 양을 측정하였다. 림프종의 경우 저준위 방사선 조사시 peroxidase의 활성이 133.3%로 증가하였다. 림프구의 경우는 superoxide dismkutase, glucose-6-phoshpate dehydrogenase 와 gluathione의 활성이 각각 138.5%, 122.4%,120.8%로 증가하였으며, 이들 효소들의 활성은 저준위방사선 조사간격이 7 시간일때 가장 증가되었다. After high-does irradiation(8 Gy), the viability of lymjphocyte with a prior low-dose irradiation was 3.7-fold higher than that without a paior low-dose irradiation. The viability could be increased by tyhre reeuction of oxygen radicals or the rmoval of damaged molecules-DNA. protein, lipid membrane,or the rmoval of damaged cells. In this paper, we studied the radioresistance mechanism in lymphocytes and lymphoma cells by examining the activities of radical scavengers(catalase, peroxidase, superoxide dismutase, and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase). and a radical protector(glutathione). Different enzymes were induced in lymphocyte and lymphoma with ow-dose irradiation. The activikty of peroxidase increased most(133.3%) in lymphoma, while the enzymes increased most in lymphocyte were superoxide dismutase(138.5%). glucose-6-phosphate degydrogenase9122.4%) and glutathione(120.8%). The activities of these enzymes were highest when the interval was 7 hours between low-dose and high-dose irradiation.

Twelve compounds were isolated from the MeOH extract of the leaf and stem of the Korean endemic plant Weigela subsessilis L. H. Bailey. Their chemical structures were elucidated on the basis of physicochemical and spectroscopic data and by comparison with those of published literatures. These compounds were identified as three sterols, ${\beta}$-sitosterol acetate (2), ${\beta}$-sitosterol (3), daucosterol (11), eight triterpenoids, squalene (1), ursolic acid (4), ilekudinol A (5), corosolic acid (6), ilekudinol B (7), esculentic acid (8), pomolic acid (9), asiatic acid (10), and one iridoid glycoside, alboside I (12). This is the first report pertaining to the isolation of these compounds from Weigela subsessilis L. H. Bailey. In addition, three compounds 7, 9, and 12 were found to display a strong inhibitory effect on the production of IL-8 in the HT29 cells stimulated by TNF-${\alpha}$.

<P>To identify physical and sensory responses to acupuncture point stimulation (APS), nonacupuncture point stimulation (NAPS) and no stimulation (NS), changes in the high-frequency power spectrum before and after stimulation were evaluated with electroencephalography (EEG). A total of 37 healthy subjects received APS at the LI4 point, NAPS, or NS with their eyes closed. Background brain waves were measured before, during, and after stimulation using 8 channels. Changes in the power spectra of gamma waves and high beta waves before, during, and after stimulation were comparatively analyzed. After NAPS, absolute high beta power (AHBP), relative high beta power (RHBP), absolute gamma power (AGP), and relative gamma power (RGP) tended to increase in all channels. But no consistent notable changes were found for APS and NS. NAPS is believed to cause temporary reactions to stress, tension, and sensory responses of the human body, while APS responds stably compared to stimulation of other parts of the body. </P>
Mechanical Stimulation of the HT7 Acupuncture Point to Reduce Ethanol Self-Administration in Rats

<P><B>Background</B></P><P> Alcoholism, which is a disabling addiction disorder, is a major public health problem worldwide. The present study was designed to determine whether the application of acupuncture at the Shenmen (HT7) point suppresses voluntary alcohol consumption in addicted rats and whether this suppressive effect is potentiated by the administration of naltrexone.</P><P><B> Methods</B></P><P> Rats were initially trained to self-administer a sucrose solution by operating a lever. A mechanical acupuncture instrument (MAI) for objective mechanical stimulation was used on rats whose baseline response had been determined. In addition, the effect of HT7 acupuncture on beta-endorphin concentration and ethanol intake via naltrexone were investigated in different groups.</P><P><B> Results</B></P><P> We found that ethanol intake and beta-endorphin level in rats being treated with the MAI at the HT7 point reduced significantly. The treatment of naltrexone at high doses reduced the ethanol intake and low-dose injection of naltrexone in conjunction with the MAI also suppressed ethanol intake.</P><P><B> Conclusions</B></P><P> The results of the current study indicate that using the MAI at the HT7 point effectively reduces ethanol consumption in rats. Furthermore, the coadministration of the MAI and a low dose of naltrexone can produce some more potent reducing effect of ethanol intake than can acupuncture alone.</P>
