We report an evaluation of the immunostimulatory effect of propolis volatiles from a stingless honeybee. We studied 34 elderly residents at a special nursing home. Twenty-one subjects were treated with propolis, 8 with Bincho charcoal and 5 subjects acted as controls. Subjects treated with either propolis or Bincho charcoal were housed in rooms separated from the other non-study residents in the nursing home. The effects of each treatment on natural killer (NK) cell activity and lymphocyte levels were examined after 2 months and then for a longer period. The results indicated that NK cell activity was significantly improved to that within the normal range only after propolis treatment.

This study investigated whether implicit beliefs (entity/incremental) about intelligence and creativity were correlated and whether such beliefs were associated with everyday academic risk-taking and perceived academic stress. Participants were 238 college students. The results suggest that students who believe in the malleability of intelligence also believe in the malleability of creativity. A third of the students endorsed a link between intelligence and academic success. As expected, incremental theorists were more likely than entity theorists to report taking greater academic risks and experiencing less academic stress. The results provide support for the importance of fostering incremental beliefs about the highly valued traits of intelligence and creativity.

This article analyzes the state and development of multimedia technologies in the educational process. The reasons for the emergence of multimedia educational technologies are shown. The definition of the concept of "multimedia education" is given. The advantages and disadvantages of teaching using multimedia technologies are presented. The article, based on multimedia technologies, provides one of the ways to solve the problem of lack of classroom time for the presentation of all educational material in the process of teaching engineering students. The creation and application of educational videos in education is discussed, an example of teaching electrical engineering is given; the requirements for the development of video lessons, their advantages and importance in the educational process are indicated.

According to the Labor Standard Law in Japan which was enacted after World War II in 1947, all work hours for adult men, women, and youth were set at a maximum of eight hours per day and forty-eight hours per week. In other words, a six-day work week, with only one-day off, was set. Now we are in the full five-day and two-day off school system. The five-day school week influences on our home life. Students are highly enthused by the new system, in looking forward to their personal time they now have to play with friends, to relax, or just watch TV. To implement this new five-day school system positively and effectively, we should see the point at issue related to the two-day off system from a different angle, which suggests that we should see far ahead into the future.
