        SIM The Blind: A Virtual Reality Cinema based on Pansori and Point Cloud Characters

        Pansori is a traditional Korean genre of musical storytelling, sometimes referred to as the Korean opera, performed by a singer, sorikkun and accompanied by a drummer, gosu. SIM: The Blind is based on one of the five surviving pansori songs, Simcheongga. Exploring the rhythm of the story rooted in shamanistic rites, we follow the life of Sim Hakgyu – a blind master of swords who roams through a post-apocalyptic world, contaminated with blinding dust, using his sensitive hearing to get a sense of direction. The viewer experiences their reality in the same way, through sound waves bouncing off shapes. The world built with sounds appears to us as a volumetric cloud of colorful points hanging in the air, creating the afterimages of the sung story.

        XPath 패턴들간의 준동형 정보를 효율적으로 유지하기 위한 래티스 구조

        많은 XML 응용들은 XML 문서에 대한 질의 언어로 XPath 패턴을 사용한다. XPath 패턴들 사이에는 포함 관계가 존재할 수 있으며, 하나의 XPath 패턴이 다른 XPath 패턴을 포함하는지를 결정하는 문제를 포함 문제라고 한다. 포함 문제는 많은 응용들에서 발생하고 있지만 co-NP complete 문제로 알려져 있다. 한편 XPath 패턴들 사이의 준동형 관계는 포함 관계의 충분 조건이면서 다항 시간에 얻을 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 준동형 문제가 포함 문제를 대체하여 유용하게 쓰일 수 있는 응용들에 대해 논의하고, XPath 패턴들 사이의 준동형 정보를 유지하면 많은 이점을 얻을 수 있다는 사실에 대해 논의한다. 그리고 XPath 패턴들 사이의 준동형 관계를 유지하기 위하여 POX(Partially Ordered Set of XPath Patterns)라는 래티스 구조를 제안하고, 그것을 유지할 수 있는 알고리즘을 개발한다. 알고리즘 분석을 보면 알 수 있듯이, 본 논문에서 제안하는 알고리즘은 다항 시간에 POX를 효율적으로 유지할 수 있다. Many XML applications use XPath patterns as a query language for XML documents. Two XPath patterns may have containment relationship, and the containment problem between two XPath patterns is a problem that determines whether one XPath pattern contains another XPath pattern. Although the containment problem occurs in many applications, it is known as a co-NP complete. A homomorphism problem, which is a sufficient condition for the containment problem, is solved in polynomial time. We first discuss applications that replace the containment problem with the homomorphism problem, and maintaining homomorphism information among XPath patterns will benefit those applications. Then, we propose a lattice structure, called POX (Partially Ordered Set of XPath Patterns), and develop algorithms for maintaining it. As our analyses show, the algorithms can efficiently maintain POX in polynomial time.

        Hybrid SSD 시스템을 위한 재사용 간격 기반 블록 교체 기법

        최근 SSD(Solid State Drive)는 빠른 읽기/쓰기, 저전력 등 다양한 장점을 가지고 있어 스마트폰, 노트북, 서버 등의 저장장치로 사용 영역이 확대되고 있다. 하지만, 플래시 메모리의 읽기 및 쓰기의 비대칭적 성능과 제한된 쓰기 횟수가 SSD의 수명을 단축시키는 문제가 있어서 캐쉬(cache)로 사용되는 SSD의 내용을 변경시키는 블록 교체 기법(block replacement policy)이 매우 중요하다. Hybrid SSD의 수명을 향상 시킬 수 있는 방법 중 하나로 LARC 기법이 있으나, LARC는 SSD블록 관리를 위해 기존 LRU알고리즘을 사용하기 때문에 빈번히 참조되는 블록이 오래된 블록 대신 교체되어 SSD 미스율을 증가시킴으로써 시스템의 성능이 저하되는 문제점이 발생한다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 다양한 데이터 읽기, 쓰기 환경에 효과적으로 대응하기 위해 블록의 재사용 간격을 고려한 새로운 블록 교체 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 블록 재사용 간격(Reuse interval)과 Age를 기반으로 최근성(Recency)을 추출하고 참조빈도(Frequency)를 같이 고려하여 블록을 교체한다. Workload 기반 Trace를 이용한 실험결과, 제안하는 기법은 여러가지의 기존 블록 교체 기법 및 LARC 알고리즘과 비교하여 쓰기 횟수 감소와 히트율 향상을 통해 시스템 성능과 SSD의 수명을 연장시킨다. Due to the advantages of fast read/write operation and low power consumption, SSD(Solid State Drive) is now widely adopted as storage device of smart phone, laptop computer, server, etc. However, the shortcomings of SSD such as limited number of write operations and asymmetric read/write operation lead to the problem of shortened life span of SSD. Therefore, the block replacement policy of SSD used as cache for HDD is very important. The existing solutions for improving the lifespan of SSD including the LARC scheme typically employ the LRU algorithm to manage the SSD blocks, which may increase the miss rate in SSD due to the replacement of frequently used block instead of rarely used block. In this paper we propose a novel block replacement scheme which considers the block reuse interval to effectively handle various data read/write patterns. The proposed scheme replaces the block in SSD based on the recency decided by reuse interval and age along with hit ratio. Computer simulation using workload trace files reveals that the proposed scheme consistently improves the performance and lifespan of SSD by increasing the hit ratio and decreasing the number of write operations compared to the existing schemes including LARC.

        Volumetric capture technology has been a vital part of immersive media design. In this study, we propose a design and implementation of a 6DoF (6 Degree of Freedom) virtual reality contents with volumetric captured characters and computer graphic-based backgrounds. After presenting the comparison of different volumetric video methods, we describe the design process that led to an immersive interactive virtual reality system with real picture-based characters. The installation further explores the role of volumetric captured assets and computer graphic based backgrounds in immersive media contents.

        A Study on Emergency Monitoring Robot System by Back-Propagation Algorithm

        This study aims to implement the emergency monitoring robot system which predicts the current state of the patients without visiting the medical institutions by measuring the basic health status of the user's blood pressure, heartbeat, and basic health status of body temperature in the disaster emergency situation based on the Smart Grid. By arranging a large number of sensor(blood pressure, heartbeat, body temperature sensor) and measuring the bio signs, so the attached wireless XBee sensor can be stored in DB of robot, and it aims to draw the current state of the patients by analysis of stored bio data. Among 300 data obtained from the sensor, 1st data to 100th data were used for learning, and from 101st data to 300th data were used for assessment. 12 results were different among the total 300 assessment data, so it shows about 96% accuracy.

        A Study on Efficient Cluster Analysis of Bio-Data Using MapReduce Framework

        This study measured the stream data from the several sensors, and stores the database in MapReduce framework environment, and it aims to design system with the small performance and cluster analysis error rate through the KMSVM algorithm. Through the KM-SVM algorithm, the cluster analysis effective data was used for U-health system. In the results of experiment by using 2003 data sets obtained from 52 test subjects, the k-NN algorithm showed 79.29% cluster analysis accuracy, K-means algorithm showed 87.15 cluster analysis accuracy, and SVM algorithm showed 83.72%, KM-SVM showed 90.72%. As a result, the process speed and cluster analysis effective ratio of KM- SVM algorithm was better.

      • Emotion extraction based on multi bio-signal using back-propagation neural network

        <P>This study proposes a system that can recognize human emotional state from bio-signal. The technology is provided to improve the interaction between humans and computers to achieve an effective human-machine that is capable for intelligent interaction. The proposed method is able to recognize six emotional states, such as joy, happiness, fear, anger, despair, and sadness. These set of emotional states are widely used for emotion recognition purposes. The result shows that the proposed method can distinguish one emotion compared to all other possible emotional states. The method is composed of two steps: 1) multi-modal bio-signal evaluation and 2) emotion recognition using artificial neural network. In the first step, we present a method to analyze and fix human sensitivity using physiological signals, such as electroencephalogram, electrocardiogram, photoplethysmogram, respiration, and galvanic skin response. The experimental analysis shows that the proposed method has good accuracy performance and could be applied on many human-computer interaction devices for emotion detection.</P>
