The Korean record of Scolytoplatypus mikado Blandford 1893 is originated from Murayama (1929) whereas Wood(1989) synonimyzed S. sinensis Tsai & Huang 1965 as a junior synonym of S. mikado Blandford 1893. In 2010, the authors collected several specimens from Korea and Japan and found considerable morphological differences between S. sinensis and S. mikad the process on the prosternum, the pubescences on the procoxae, and the shape of the male elytral declivity. Comparing the Cytochrome Oxidase I and 16S rRNA gene, we also found the genetical gap between the South Korean specimens (= S. sinensis, with the Japanese sample from Mt. Tsukubasan) and the sample from Mt. Yamizosan, Japan (= S. mikado). Accordingly, S. sinensis Tsai & Huang 1965 is here reinstated.
New Records and synonymy of Bostrichid beetles (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae) from Korea
Sangwook Park,Ki-jeong Hong,Seunghwan Lee 한국응용곤충학회 2010 한국응용곤충학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2010 No.10
The family Bostrichidae contains 9 subfamily and about 580 species. Almost all have adapted to xylophagy, living mainly in sapwood rich in cellulose and many species are considered as serious and onerous technical pests - with increasing export of wooden articles and containers increases also the frequency of introduction of these beetles to various parts of the world, including those of temperate or cold climate (Borowski and Wegrzynowicz, 2007). In Korea, Up to days, 7 species of 5 genera of the family Bostrichidae have been recorded. We added two species, Dinoderus speculifer Lesne, 1895 and Xylothrips pekinensis (Lesne, 1902 - Comb. nov.). And Xylothrips cathaicus Reichardt, 1966 is synonymized with Xylothrips pekineisns (Lesne, 1902 - Syn. nov.). Borowski and Wegrzynowicz (2008) added Xylothrips pekinensis to the Japanese fauna with a photo and mentioned on the possibility of the distribution in the Korean peninsula, but this species had been already recorded to the Japanese fauna by Iwata and Kusakabe (2002).

The genus Scolytus of the family Scolytidae comprises more than 120 species through the world. Fifteen species of the genus Scolytus are revised from Korean peninsula. The genus Scolytus can be distinguished from the other genera by combination of following characteristics: frons slightly concave or convex with vertical wrinkles; club longer than 7-segmented funicle; pronotum fairly large, shining, punctured, narrowed towards the front, turning into a more slight or distinct neck-like constriction; vicinity of scutellum deeply impressed; elytra flat with punctures densely or sparsely arranged in rows; abdominal sternites from 2nd to 5th obliquely, convexly, concavely or vertically ascendant and with or without process or tubercles at middle. Scolytus frontalis Blandford, 1894 is new record to Korea. This species was collected from living Zelkova tree, Zelkova serrata which were planted along the street. We provide the habitus of this species and its biological informations.
New Records of bark beetles (Coleoptera: Scolytidae) from Korea
Sangwook PARK,Seunghwan LEE,Wonil CHOI,Sang Chul SHIN 한국응용곤충학회 2010 한국응용곤충학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2010 No.05
Up to days, 31 species of 7 genera of the tribe Xyleborini have been recorded from Korean peninsula. We have collected the bark beetles with Malaise traps from 2007 to 2009 in the central part of the Korean peninsula. As a result of this study, we report 2 species, Xyleborus japonicus Nobuchi, 1981 and X. pelliculosus Eichhoff, 1878, for the first time from Korea with brief descriptions and illustrations of diagnostic characters.

Up to now, 39 species of the family Anthribidae have been recorded from Korea. As a result of this study, we add two genus and four species of the family Anthribidae to the Korean fauna with brief descriptions and illustrations of diagnostic characters. The newly recorded genus Citacalus in the subfamily Choraginae, is very similar to the genus Choragus. Citacalus pygidialis Johraku has an unique character, pygidium strongly convex longitudinally sharply carinate on the apical half in male; in female, pygidium triangularly projecting laterally near the apex. The newly recorded species Euparius modicus yaeyamanus Morimoto in the genus Euparius of the subfamily Anthribinae, can be distinguished from the other two recorded species by the elytra with almost unicolor pubescence color except a pair of black spots behind middle. The newly recorded genus Unciferina is close to Uncifer Jordan, but easily distinguished from the latter by sharply angulate rostrum to head, transversely carinate base of rostrum on the underside, and the acute hind angles of pronotum. The two new species in the genus Unciferina are easily distinguished from the congeneric species with pubescence patches on pronotum and elytra, shape of eye, the ratio of the antennal segments and the shape of the hind angles of pronotum.
Compact HF Surface Wave Radar Data Generating Simulator for Ship Detection and Tracking
Park, Sangwook,Cho, Chul Jin,Ku, Bonhwa,Lee, SangHo,Ko, Hanseok IEEE 2017 IEEE geoscience and remote sensing letters Vol.14 No.6

Toward a maritime surveillance objective, many ship detection and tracking algorithms have been investigated but are faced with poor performance in practical ocean environments. Compact high-frequency (HF) radar has also faced critical issues due to its long coherent processing interval and varying response from its orthogonal antenna structure. Hence, a simulator based on compact HF radar is proposed in this letter to provide a guideline for effective assessment of ship detection and tracking algorithms while considering these practical issues. To validate the proposed simulator, the simulator generated data has been compared with real data obtained by the compact HF radar sites.

인지저하 조기 감별을 위한 의미-어휘 처리 평가 과제의 효율성
SangWook Park,JungWan Kim 대한임상노인의학회 2022 대한임상노인의학회지 Vol.23 No.2
This study aims to examine the type of tasks which are commonly carried out for clinical use, performance of target group, and method of analysis for task, in order to clarify the type of semantic-lexical tasks to be applicable to identifying those with mild cognitive decline in early stages. Naming tasks, word definition, correct information unit analysis, and semantic association task are usually used in the clinical field to estimate the features of semantic-lexical processing. In this context, as the stimulus word suggested had lower frequency, rather than higher, and was more abstract, rather than more concrete, it sensitively showed significant differences. In addition, there is a result that the correct/error response calculation does not distinguish the difference between the normal group and the group with small cognitive differences such as the subjective memory impairment group. In this case, it was found that the reaction time measurement could be more useful in discriminating the cognitive decline group. It is considered that it would be possible to distinguish the cognitively impaired groups more efficiently by applying the low frequency word that is not familiar to ordinary daily life or stimulus that requires more complicated cognitive processing, as the test stimulus.
Facilitated Transport of Cr(VI) through a Supported Liquid Membrane with a Carrier
Park SangWook,Lee JaeWook,Kim SungSoo,Choi ByoungSik 한국유화학회 2003 한국응용과학기술학회지 Vol.20 No.2
This paper has applied a simple model to the mass transfer mechanism of Cr(VI) with crownether in a batch-type, supported liquid membrane module. Concentration at pH 3 are as follows : 0.012 kmol/m^3{le}18-crown-6{le}0.036 kmol/m^3 and 20 g/m^3{le} Cr(VI){le}500 g/m^3. The measured values of forward- and backward-reaction rate constants between Cr(VI) and 18-crown-6 were used to simulate the model with the mass conservation equation and associated boundary conditions. Comparison between the experimental and simulated facilitated factor of Cr(VI) transport led to classification of reaction regions.
