Nonresonant electronic transitions induced by vibrational motion in light-induced potentials
Sampedro, Pablo,Chang, Bo Y.,Sola, Ignacio R. The Royal Society of Chemistry 2016 Physical chemistry chemical physics Vol.18 No.36
<P>We find a new mechanism of electronic population inversion using strong femtosecond pulses, where the transfer is mediated by vibrational motion on a light-induced potential. The process can be achieved with a single pulse tuning its frequency to the red of the Franck-Condon window. We show the determinant role that the gradient of the transition dipole moment can play on the dynamics, and extend the method to multiphoton processes with odd number of pulses. As an example, we show how the scheme can be applied to population inversion in Na-2.</P>
Protecting and accelerating adiabatic passage with time-delayed pulse sequences
Sampedro, Pablo,Chang, Bo Y.,Sola, Ignacio R. The Royal Society of Chemistry 2016 Physical chemistry chemical physics Vol.18 No.19
<P>Using numerical simulations of two-photon electronic absorption with femtosecond pulses in Na-2 we show that: (i) it is possible to avoid the characteristic saturation or dumped Rabi oscillations in the yield of absorption by time-delaying the laser pulses; (ii) it is possible to accelerate the onset of adiabatic passage by using the vibrational coherence starting in a wave packet; and (iii) it is possible to prepare the initial wave packet in order to achieve full state-selective transitions with broadband pulses. The findings can be used, for instance, to achieve ultrafast adiabatic passage by light-induced potentials and understand its intrinsic robustness.</P>
Design of an Enhanced Object Detection Algorithm through Image Scaling
Gabriel Avelino Sampedro,Yohana Jayanti Aruan,Jae-Min Lee,Dong-Seong Kim 한국통신학회 2021 한국통신학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2021 No.6
This paper proposes the implementation of an image scaling algorithm with the use of an object detection algorithm. You Only Look Once (YOLO) algorithm is a quick object detection algorithm that only needs to scan an image once, before detecting objects of interest; however, there are some inaccuracies in the detection of small objects, given the limitation of the clustering boxes generated by the algorithm. Through the implementation of a scaling algorithm, the researchers investigate the increase in detection rates and the design is deemed ready for implementation.

Hearing-aids are the most common devices for hearing impairment. It has been proven to be effective in helping patients hear better, especially in quiet and controlled environments. While hearing aids help amplify sounds, it does not take into account noise, thus it can worsen the hearing impairment in the long run. To address this problem, a system that would be able to filter sounds in real-time using a Redundant Convolutional Encoder-Decoder (R-CED) is developed with solutions that address multiple constraints brought about by various engineering standards. The chosen three system designs were mobile application, web application, and desktop application that all can handle deep learning algorithms. The mobile application design was chosen as the best design based on the trade-off analysis. In every testing conducted, the application is proven to reduce background noise, scoring 58 over 60 iterations or 96
Design of a Fault-Detection System for FDM-type 3D Printer using Temporal Convolutional Network
Danielle Jaye S. Agron,Gabriel Avelino R. Sampedro,Gabriel Amaizu,Jae-Min Lee,Dong-Seong Kim 한국통신학회 2021 한국통신학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2021 No.6
In the process of additive manufacturing, the devices used to print usually encounter errors and problems that are not easily detected by the device operator. Undetected errors can cause serious damage to the 3D printer and leads to the output being counted as reject, thus leading to both loss in time and resources. The research focuses on the development of a device to monitor the process of 3D printing. The design applies temporal convolutional networks (TCN) to train the device to identify whether certain measurements of the 3D printer will lead to errors in output. The prototype serves as an attachment to the 3D printer and displays measurements and if they are within the safe values.

Lead sulfide ( PbS ) nanocrystals anchored on nitrogen-doped multiwalled carbon nanotubes ( CNx ) have been synthesized employing an environmentally friendly and inexpensive wet chemistry process. CNx?PbS composites have been examined by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy. Theorical ab initio calculations have been developed to determine the samples structural, morphological and optical properties to explain the experimental evidences. The PbS nanoparticles exhibit of 4 nm to 27 nm particle size with a face-centered cubic crystal structure and are homogeneously distributed along the carbon nanotubes. The nitrogen-doped CNTs acts as binding sites for the PbS clusters as ab initio theoretical study suggests.

<P>2-D numerical simulations are used to demonstrate the <TEX>${Z}^{\textsf {2}}$</TEX>-FET as a competitive embedded capacitor-less dynamic random access memory cell for low-power applications. Experimental results in 28-nm fully depleted-silicon on insulator technology are used to validate the simulations prior to downscaling tests. Default scaling, without any structure optimization, and enhanced scaling scenarios are considered before comparing the bit cell area consumption and integration density with other eDRAM cells in the literature.</P>
