        Effects of Lactobacillus salivarius Ren on cancer prevention and intestinal microbiota in 1, 2-dimethylhydrazine-induced rat model

        Probiotics have been suggested as a prophylactic measure in colon cancer. The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of Lactobacillus salivarius Ren (Ren) in modulating colonic microbiota structure and colon cancer incidence in a rat model after injection with 1,2-dimethyl hydrazine (DMH). The results indicated that oral administration of Ren could effectively suppress DMH-induced colonic carcinogenesis. A significant decrease in cancer incidence (87.5% to 25%) was detected in rats fed with a dose of 5 × 1010 CFU/kg bodyweight per day. Using denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis and Real-time PCR combined with multivariate statistical methods, we demonstrated that injection with DMH significantly altered the rat gut microbiota, while Ren counteracted these DMH-induced adverse effects and promoted reversion of the gut microbiota close to the healthy state. Tvalue biplots followed by band sequencing identified 21 bacterial strains as critical variables affected by DMH and Ren. Injection of DMH significantly increased the amount of Ruminococcus species (sp.) and Clostridiales bacteria, as well as decreasing the Prevotella sp. Administration of Ren reduced the amount of Ruminococcus sp., Clostridiales bacteria, and Bacteroides dorei, and increased the amount of Prevotella. Real-time PCR results were consistent with the results derived by t-value biplots. These findings suggested that Ren is a potential agent for colon cancer prevention. In conclusion, the results in the present study suggest a potential therapeutic approach based on the modulation of intestinal microflora by probiotics may be beneficial in the prevention of colorectal carcinogenesis.

        Research progress and treatment of radiation enteritis and gut microbiota

        Radiation enteritis is a kind of intestinal radiation injury in patients with pelvic and retroperitoneal malignancies after radiotherapy, and its occurrence and development process are very complicated. At present, studies have confirmed that intestinal microecological imbalance is an important factor in the formation of this disease. Abdominal radiation causes changes in the composition of the flora and a decrease in its diversity, which is mainly manifested by a decrease in beneficial bacterial species such as Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria. Intestinal dysbacteriosis aggravates radiation enteritis, weakens the function of the intestinal epithelial barrier, and promotes the expression of inflammatory factors, thereby aggravating the occurrence of enteritis. Given the role of the microbiome in radiation enteritis, we suggest that the gut microbiota may be a potential biomarker for the disease. Treatment methods such as probiotics, antibiotics, and fecal microbiota transplantation are ways to correct the microbiota and may be an effective way to prevent and treat radiation enteritis. Based on a review of the relevant literature, this paper reviews the mechanism and treatment of intestinal microbes in radiation enteritis.

      • Energetics and kinetics of Cu atoms and clusters on the Si(111)-7 × 7 surface: first-principles calculations

        <P>Exploring the properties of noble metal atoms and nano- or subnano-clusters on the semiconductor surface is of great importance in many surface catalytic reactions, self-assembly processes, crystal growth, and thin film epitaxy. Here, the energetics and kinetic properties of a single Cu atom and previously reported Cu magic clusters on the Si(111)-(7 x 7) surface are re-examined by the state-of-the-art first-principles calculations based on density functional theory. First of all, the diffusion path and high diffusion rate of a Cu atom on the Si(111)-(7 x 7) surface are identified by mapping out the total potential energy surface of the Cu atom as a function of its positions on the surface, supporting previous experimental hypothesis that the apparent triangular light spots observed by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) are resulted from a single Cu atom frequently hopping among adjacent adsorption sites. Furthermore, our findings confirm that in the low coverage of 0.15 monolayer (ML) the previously proposed hexagonal ring-like Cu-6 cluster configuration assigned to the STM pattern is considerably unstable. Importantly, the most stable Cu-6/Si(111) complex also possesses a distinct simulated STM pattern with the experimentally observed ones. Instead, an energetically preferred solid-centered Cu-7 structure exhibits a reasonable agreement between the simulated STM patterns and the experimental images. Therefore, the present findings convincingly rule out the tentative six-atom model and provide new insights into the understanding of the well-defined Cu nanocluster arrays on the Si(111)-(7 x 7) surface.</P>

        Research on Bending Stiffness of the New Sprayer Joint

        The socket joint are commonly employed in large-span spatial structures; however, its bending stiff ness is limited. Based on the socket joint, this paper proposes an improved and novel sprayer joint that features a more rational force transmission mechanism and have larger bending stiff ness. Firstly, the joint is designed, followed by verifi cation of numerical model and bending stiff ness comparison with socket joint. Secondly, the bending performance of the sprayer joints with various surrounding bolt radii under load conditions is investigated, and the resulting bending moment-rotation curves are obtained. The research fi ndings demonstrate that the force transmission mechanism of the sprayer joint with larger bending stiff ness is more rational. When the surrounding bolt radius is excessively small or the axial tension is excessively high, the bolt prematurely yields, leading to a signifi cant decrease in joint stiff ness. Despite a mere 15% increase in material cost, the bending stiff ness of the new joint is 21.71 times higher than that of the traditional socket joint, and the ultimate bending moment is 5.42 times higher.

      • A conventional route to scalable morphology-controlled regular structures and their superhydrophobic/hydrophilic properties for biochips application

        <P>We use a conventional and straightforward route to fabricate scalable morphology-controlled regular structures. This route is based on the etching of PDMS microlens array in CF<SUB>4</SUB> and CF<SUB>4</SUB>/O<SUB>2</SUB> plasma. PDMS microlens array can be changed to regularly isolated microdot structures array in CF<SUB>4</SUB> plasma. Microbowl shaped structures array can be reached in CF<SUB>4</SUB>/O<SUB>2</SUB> plasma. Moreover, a set of structures after CF<SUB>4</SUB> plasma treatment display superhydrophobicity, while a set of structures after CF<SUB>4</SUB>/O<SUB>2</SUB> plasma treatment present hydrophilicity. DNA molecules can be readily enriched on the hydrophilic surface.       • An Empirical Study on the Market Decision-Making ㅡ Mechanism of Chinese Peasant Consumers

        Consumers from all walks of life may show different purchasing orientations. Decision-making mechanism is utilized to analyze consumption psychology of Chinese peasant consumers, their purchase behaviours and product cognition etc. This orientation has the role of psychological compulsion that consumer may not be aware when they make the purchase decision, while the role of psychological compulsion essentially dominates their decisions. To analyze psychological orientation and decision-making mechanism utilizing factor analysis, cluster analysis, and consumption psychology. Meanwhile, when income reaches some degree, income doesn’t have obvious effect on the decision-making mechanism of peasants’ purchase on durable goods, the category of consumer style depends on the “individual” factor of peasants’ consumption psychology.

      • Anti-HER-2×anti-CD3 Bi-specific Antibodies Inhibit Growth of HCT-116 Colorectal Carcinoma Cells in Vitro and in Vivo

        Objective: This study is conducted to evaluate the effects of anti-HER-2${\times}$anti-CD3 bi-specific antibodies(BsAb) on HER-2/neuover-expressing human colorectal carcinoma cells. Methods: Growth was assessed by MTT assays after exposure of HCT-116 cells to Herceptin, anti-CD3 and BsAb antibodies. Immunocytochemistry was applied to test the HER-2 level of HCT-116. In a nude mouse model, HER-2${\times}$CD3 BsAb was combined with effector cells (peripheral blood lymph cells from normal human being) for observations on in Vivo growth of tumors. Results: Compared with the control group, using effector cells combined with anti-CD3 McAb, Herceptin or HER2${\times}$CD3 BsAb, tumor cell growth in vitro and in vivo was significantly inhibited (P<0.05), most remarkably in the HER2${\times}$CD3 BsAb case. The growth of xenografts with HER2${\times}$CD3 BsAb combined with effector cells was also significantly inhibited when compared with the anti-CD3 McAb or Herceptin groups (P<0.05). Conclusion: HER-2/neu might be a useful target for immunotherapy in colorectal carcinoma, anti-HER2${\times}$anti-CD3 BsAb exerting clear anti-tumor effects.
