We report a fast, efficient, and facile route for the synthesis of 2,5-dihydro-5-imino-2-methylfuran-3,4-dicarboxylate derivatives from the isocyanide, dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylate and acetic anhydride under ultrasound-assisted conditions. Utilization of easy reaction conditions, very high to excellent yields, and short reaction times makes this manipulation potentially very useful.
A Finite-time Adaptive Fuzzy Terminal Sliding Mode Control for Uncertain Nonlinear Systems
Ehsan Rouhani,Abbas Erfanian 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2018 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.16 No.4
In this study, a new adaptive fuzzy terminal sliding mode (AFTSM) control is presented for control of uncertain nonlinear systems with disturbances. The proposed controller incorporates terminal-based gradient descent (GD) algorithm and fuzzy logic system into a continuous nonsingular terminal sliding mode. The nonlinear dynamics of the system to be controlled are approximated with the fuzzy logic system and an adaptive law based on the terminal-based GD is proposed for online updating the parameters. The most advantage of the proposed terminal-based GD is the finite-time convergence compared to the conventional GD learning algorithm. It is proved that under the proposed terminal sliding mode and updating law, the tracking and approximation errors converge to the neighbourhood of zero in a very short time. Simulation results are given to illustrate the performance of the proposed AFTSM control through the control of a second-order system and a two-link rigid robotic manipulator. The simulation results show that faster and high-precision tracking performance is obtained compared with the conventional continuous terminal sliding mode control methods. Moreover, the proposed terminal sliding mode is applied to control of joint movement generated by functional electrical stimulation. The experiment results verify that accurate control of movement is obtained using the proposed control scheme.

In this paper, we introduce and study an explicit hybrid relaxed extragradient iterative method to approximate a common solution to generalized mixed equilibrium problem and fixed point problem for a nonexpansive semigroup in Hilbert space. Further, we prove that the sequence generated by the proposed iterative scheme converges strongly to the common solution to generalized mixed equilibrium problem and fixed point problem for a nonexpansive semigroup. This common solution is the unique solution of a variational inequality problem and is the optimality condition for a minimization problem. The results presented in this paper are the supplement, improvement and generalization of the previously known results in this area.

Background: Radial neck fracture in children is rare. This study attempted to evaluate the outcome of surgically treated patients and any associated complications. Methods: This study evaluated 23 children under 15 years of age with radial neck fracture who were treated with open reduction between 2006 and 2016 to determine their range of motion, postoperative complications, and radiographic outcomes. The results were assessed clinically using the Mayo clinic elbow performance score. Results: The mean follow-up duration for patients was 34.6 months. The average postoperative angulation was 3.6°. Hypoesthesia was reported in only 9% of patients, and none of the patients complained of postoperative pain. The postoperative X-ray results were excellent in 60% and good in 40%. No radiographic complications were identified. The elbow score was excellent in 87% and good in 13% (mean score, 96.74). There was a statistical relationship between range of motion limitations and age, degree of fracture, initial displacement, and surgical pin removal time. Conclusions: Although most patients accept the closed reduction method as a primary treatment, the present study suggests that an open-reduction approach has been associated with optimal therapeutic outcomes for patients in whom closed reduction was not satisfactory or indicated.

In the present work, a numerical algorithm based on a combination of the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) and the improved smoothed profile method (iSPM) has been proposed to study the motion of one, two and many circular particles in a non-Newtonian fluid. At first, the velocity profile of the non-Newtonian fluid at various power law indexes (n) was analyzed and the findings were compared with the numerical results of the previous works. Then, the motion of one circular cylinder and the hydrodynamic interactions between two particles in a shear flow were investigated. It was observed that Reshear,p had no important impact on the rotation of a single cylinder. In the two particles interaction, increasing the shear rate caused the particles to tumble on each other more closely and during a longer time. Therefore, the effective viscosity of a particulate suspension was considered for different Reynolds numbers and solid volume fractions, showing a satisfactory agreement with the previously published data. The results, therefore, showed that inertia increased the particles contribution to the effective viscosity of the suspension.

Although several studies have assessed the influence of the glycemic index on body weight and blood pressure among adults, limited evidence exists for the pediatric age population. In the current study, we compared the effects of low glycemic index (LGI) diet to the healthy nutritional recommendation (HNR)-based diet on obesity and blood pressure among adolescent girls in pubertal ages. This 10-week parallel randomized clinical trial comprised of 50 overweight or obese and sexually mature girls less than 18 years of age years, who were randomly assigned to LGI or HNR-based diet. Macronutrient distribution was equivalently prescribed in both groups. Blood pressure, weight and waist circumference were measured at baseline and after intervention. Of the 50 participants, 41 subjects (include 82%) completed the study. The GI of the diet in the LGI group was 42.67 ± 0.067. A within-group analysis illustrated that in comparison to the baseline values, the body weight and body mass index (not waist circumference and blood pressure) decreased significantly after the intervention in both groups (P = 0.0001). The percent changes of the body weight status, waist circumference and blood pressure were compared between the two groups and the findings did not show any difference between the LGI diet consumers and those in the HNR group. In comparison to the HNR, LGI diet could not change the weight and blood pressure following a 10-week intervention. Further longitudinal studies with a long-term follow up should be conducted in this regard.

Pickle is consumed in high amount among Iranians. Pickle consumption may be related to body mass index (BMI) and blood pressure (BP) but limited evidence exist in this regard. The aim of current study was to determine the association between pickle consumption and risk of overweight, central obesity and BP among Isfahanian female youths. A cross-sectional study was conducted on 289 female students aged 18-27 years randomly selected from students of Isfahan University of Medical Sciences, Isfahan, Iran. Diet was assessed by a validated and reliable food-frequency questionnaire. Mean pickle consumption was 15.1 ± 2.2 g/day. Individuals in the highest tertile of pickle consumption had a significantly higher BMI, systolic and diastolic BP (p = 0.001, 0.03, and 0.03, respectively), whereas we did not observe significant association for waist circumference (p = 0.21). Total energy intake (p = 0.02) and consumption of carbohydrate (p = 0.01), protein (p = 0.03), and fat (p = 0.05) in the upper tertile was higher than lower tertiles. There was a significant association between pickle consumption and obesity and BP among Iranian female youths. Further prospective studies are needed to confirm this association.
Catalyst-free sonosynthesis of highly substituted propanamide derivatives in water
Ramazani, A.,Rouhani, M.,Joo, S.W. Elsevier Science 2016 Ultrasonics sonochemistry Vol.28 No.-
A clean, rapid and energy-efficient approach to catalyst-free one-pot synthesis of highly substituted propanamide derivatives in water was developed utilizing of the ultrasonic irradiation. The method has been successful in achieving the green chemistry objective. A catalyst-free operation, an energy efficient protocol using ultrasound irradiation instead of conventional heating or stirring and use of water as a non-hazardous, inexpensive and readily available solvent in the one-step reaction against sequential reaction steps thus combining the features of both economic and environmental advantages.
