Acoustic Radiation and Dynamic Study of a Steel Beam Damped with Viscoelastic Material

        Quanmin Liu,Xiaozhen Li,Peipei Xu,Linya Liu,Yun-Lai Zhou 대한토목학회 2020 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.24 No.7

Steel structures subject to dynamic loads are prior to generate excessive vibration and noise. Viscoelastic treatment is an effective measure to mitigate the vibration and noise from thin-walled structures in a broad frequency range. H-shaped steel beams are widely used in civil engineering. So an experiment system is established and a series of impact hammer tests are conducted to assess the modal parameters, dynamic response and acoustic behaviour of an H-shaped steel beam coated with various viscoelastic treatments. Firstly, the spectra of the velocity response and acoustic radiation of the bare beam are analysed based on the tested data. Secondly, the resonance frequencies and modal loss factors of the beam with various viscoelastic treatments derived from the frequency response function are compared. Finally, the effect of the layout and thickness of viscoelastic patches on the mitigation of vibration and noise is discussed experimentally. It is shown that the modal loss factor of the first mode increases from 0.012 to 0.191 when the web is treated with 5 mm thick constrained layer damping (CLD). The viscoelastic patches on the web of the H-shaped beam are more effective to control the vibration and noise of the beam than the patches on the flanges. The viscoelastic treatment has distinct effect on the reduction of structural vibration and noise owing to the different dominant frequencies of vibration and noise as well as the frequency-dependent radiation efficiency. The normal velocity level of the H-shaped beam with an 8 mmthick web can be reduced by more than 10 dB and the sound pressure level around the beam about 8 dB when the web is partially covered with the constrained layer damping composed of 2.0 mm thick damping layer and 3.0 mm thick constraining layer.

A Dynamic Control Method for Cavs Platoon Based on the MPC Framework and Safety Potential Field Model

        Linheng Li,Jing Gan,Xu Qu,Wenqi Lu,Peipei Mao,Bin Ran 대한토목학회 2021 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.25 No.5

Safety and efficiency have always been significant challenges to the development of road traffic. Detailed vehicle motion information is the prerequisite for achieving optimal control of the platoon and improving traffic safety and efficiency. The connected and automated vehicles (CAVs) system has offered unprecedented opportunities for the real-time collection and processing of these detailed vehicle motion data. Based on the model predictive control (MPC) framework and safety potential field (SPF) model, we developed an alternative CAVs platoon dynamic control method. The SPF model was applied to describe the road risk distribution under the complex driving environment and was embedded in the MPC framework to optimize the vehicle dynamics from the perspective of capacity, safety, and energy-saving. Also, some experiments were performed to verify the validity of our platoon control strategy. Compared with the fixed time-headway strategy, our proposed strategy can increase the traffic capacity by about 24.4%, while ensuring safety and improving fuel economy. The results indicate that the novel CAVs platoon control methodology proposed in this paper can be potentially applied to alleviate various traffic problems (e.g., traffic congestion, traffic accidents, and high emissions).

Doxorubicin-Loaded CuS Nanoparticles Conjugated with GFLG: A Novel Drug Delivery System for Lymphoma Treatment

        Ying Jiang,Chaoyang Guan,Xu Liu,Yushan Wang,Huaqin Zuo,Tian Xia,Peipei Xu,Jian Ouyang 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2019 NANO Vol.14 No.1

Doxorubicin (DOX) plays an important part in lymphoma treatment. However, various side effects on normal tissues restrict its clinical use. Nanocarriers connected by Gly–Phe–Leu–Gly (GFLG) can be equipped with the advantages of nanoparticles (NPs), their enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect, and surface modifiability. Nanocarriers can also be specifically enzymatically hydrolyzed by cathepsin (Cath) B, a kind of enzyme highly expressed in tumor cells. In this work, we proposed a novel drug delivery system comprising GFLG conjugated with copper sulfide (CuS) NPs loaded with DOX. The system, designated as CuS-GFLG-DOX, could be used for NP-based targeted combination chemotherapy. Results showed that the drug delivery system had an appropriate diameter, good dispersibility, high encapsulation efficiency and high drug loading. The system also exhibited an excellent targeting of lymphoma cells and an enhanced antitumor activity. The possible pathway to induce cytotoxic effects was Bcl-2/caspase-mediated apoptosis pathway. In conclusion, CuS-GFLG-DOX could precisely deliver drugs to lymphoma cells and could be a novel and promising therapeutic option for lymphoma.

Anti-Tumor Effect of a Novel DOX/GA-CdTe QD was Mediated by Apoptotic and Autophagic Cell Death

        Huaqin Zuo,Fan Wang,Di Zhou,Yi Zhou,Bing Chen,Jian Ouyang,Peipei Xu 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2017 NANO Vol.12 No.1

Burkitt's lymphoma is a highly proliferative B-cell malignancy characterized by MYC oncogene translocation. Intensive short-cycle chemotherapy could effectively improve the outcome of this disease. However, drug resistance limits the treatment of refractory/relapsed disease. Thus, we constructed and investigated a novel cadmium–tellurium quantum dot conjugated with doxorubicin and gambogic acid (DOX/GA-CdTe QDs) for cancer cell combined treatment in Raji, a Burkitt's lymphoma cell line. Results showed that DOX/GA-CdTe QDs could significantly improve anti-tumor effects compared with drugs alone in the Raji cell line. Flow cytometry, transmission electron micrographs and overexpression of Beclin1 and LC3 II/I showed that apoptosis and autophagy were involved in the process. However, DOX/GA-CdTe QDs did not cause cell cycle arrest, whereas DOX alone or combined with GA could cause apparent G2/M phase arrest. Hence, the novel DOX/GA-CdTe QDs offer a promising approach of drug delivery into cancer cells.

Phase II trial of VEGFR2 inhibitor apatinib for metastatic sarcoma: focus on efficacy and safety

        Zhichao Liao,Feng Li,Chao Zhang,Lei Zhu,Yehui Shi,Gang Zhao,Xu Bai,Shafat Hassan,Xinyue Liu,Ting Li,Peipei Xing,Jun Zhao,Jin Zhang,Ruwei Xing,Sheng Teng,Yun Yang,Kexin Chen,Jilong Yang 생화학분자생물학회 2019 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.51 No.-

Apatinib (YN968D1) is a novel tyrosine kinase inhibitor targeting vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR- 2). We conducted a single-arm, nonrandomized phase II study (NCT03121846) to assess the efficacy and safety of apatinib in patients with stage IV sarcoma. We recruited 64 patients with stage IV sarcoma who had failed chemotherapy. The primary endpoint was progression-free survival (PFS), and the secondary endpoints were progression-free survival rate (PFR), objective response rate (ORR), and disease control rate (DCR) at week 12. Treatment-related adverse effects (AEs) were evaluated. Fifty-nine patients were assessed for efficacy and 64 patients for AEs. The median PFS was 7.93 months. At 12 weeks, the PFR was 74%, the ORR was 16.95% (10/59), and the DCR was 86.44% (51/59). The final ORR was 15.25% (9/59) and the DCR was 57.63% (34/59). Notably, 22 patients (34.38%) who developed hypertension, hand-foot-skin reaction, or proteinuria had significantly longer OS than those without these AEs (18.20 vs. 10.73 months; P = 0.002). We conclude that apatinib is effective and well tolerated in patients with advanced sarcoma. The development of hypertension, hand-foot-skin reaction, or proteinuria may indicate a favorable prognosis, representing a novel finding in sarcoma patients.
