This paper presents a fault detection algorithm for the in-wheel motor drive vehicle by estimating the internal resistance of the motor. The proposed fault detection algorithm is developed based on the least square identification method using the input and the output data. The nonlinear permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) model and a PMSM control algorithm are developed to simulate the fault detection algorithm. The simulation results show the validity of the proposed fault detection algorithm.

This paper presents an integrated fault diagnosis algorithm for driving motor of In-wheel independent drive electric vehicle. Especially, this paper proposes a method that integrated the high level fault diagnosis and the low level fault diagnosis in order to improve a robustness and performance of the fault diagnosis system. The high level fault diagnosis is performed using the vehicle dynamics analysis and the low level fault diagnosis is carried using the motor system analysis. The validity of the high level fault diagnosis algorithms was verified through Carsim<SUP>®</SUP> and MATLAB/Simulink<SUP>®</SUP> cosimulation and the low level fault diagnosis’s validity was shown by applying it to a MATLAB/ Simulink<SUP>®</SUP> interior permanent magnet synchronous motor control system. Finally, this paper presents a fault diagnosis strategy by combining the high level fault diagnosis and the low level fault diagnosis.

This paper presents the eco-driving monitoring algorithm which numerically evaluates the driver’s driving habits at the point of the environmental friendliness. This eco-diving monitoring algorithm which cans quantitatively and analytically evaluate the driver’s driving habits based on the instant energy efficiency of vehicle and the mathematical vehicle models. The instant energy efficiency of vehicle is calculated on the kinetic energy, battery energy and engine fuel consumption energy. The effectiveness of the proposed eco-driving monitoring algorithm is verified by the computer simulation using a vehicle model.

This paper presents a fault diagnosis algorithm for driving motor of In-wheel independent drive electric vehicle using vehicle dynamic analysis. The driving motor fault is detected and isolated based on the residuals. The residuals are provided with the wheel dynamics. The wheel dynamics are composed of a motor driving torque, wheel speed and longitudinal force. The longitudinal force estimated by analyze a planar two track non-linear model and a nonlinear simple tire model. The proposed fault diagnosis algorithm is verified by CarSim and Matlab/Simulink cosimulation.

In vitro Cell viability assay is one of the most fundamental tests in different form of cell culture, which tests the number of healthy cells in a sample. Also, cell viability assay has become an integral aspect of drug-induced toxicity study because it is a convenient, cost-effective, and predictive means of characterizing the toxic potential of drugs. Recently, utilization of induced-pluripotent stem cells (iPSc) and multistep hepatic differentiation recapitulating in vivo hepatic development opens the new era in medicine and pharmaceutical industry. The aim of this study was to compare the in vitro cytotoxicity assay and the ability to detect early cytotoxic events in 2D and 3D cultures of induced pluripotent stem cells. Human iPSC (QIA7) was established from adipose tissue-derived stromal cells from our previous study. These cells were mechanically passaged using Dispase (STEMCELL Technologies, Canada) and maintained on a Matrigel (hESC-qualified matrix, Corning) coated plate with mTeSR1 medium (STEMCELL Technologies). The 2D culture cells were seeded at the density of 1.5 x 104 cells/well on 96-well matrigel-coated plates and the cells were incubated at 37°C in a 5% CO2 humidified incubator. The 3D cells were cultured under the same conditions as 2D cells, and the cells were seeded on 96-well U-bottom matrigel non-coated plate. After 24 hours post-seeding, cells were treated with Acetaminophen (AAP, 1, 3, 10, 30 mM) for 24 hours. Following to the drugs treated, cytotoxicity was determined with the 4-[3(4-iodophenyl)-2-(4-nitrophenyl)-2H-5-tetrazolio]-1,3-benzene disulfonate (Tetrazolium salts, WST-1), 7-Hydroxy-10- oxidophenoxazin-10-ium-3-one (Resazurin, Alamarblue) and Cell Titer-Glo<SUP>®</SUP> luminescence assay (Promega, Fitchburg, WI). Overall, it was concluded that the best way to evaluate the potential cytotoxicity of hepatotoxicants is CellTiter and WST-1 assays. CellTiter and WST-1 assay showed effect of reducing cell viability in 2D and 3D cultures depending on the concentration of the drug. Alamarblue assays showed significant results in 2D culture, but the reagent did not respond well in 3D cultures.

In vitro cytotoxicity testing has become an integral aspect of drug-induced toxicity study because it is a convenient, cost-effective and predictive means of characterizing the toxic potential of drugs. The present study aimed to investigate the drug-induced cytotoxicity and effects of the liver enzymes such as ALT, AST and LDH enzyme activity in human cell. However, there are no reports of a comparison of ALT, AST, and LDH enzyme activity after hepatotoxicants treatment in 2D and 3D cell cultures. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the difference in expression of liver injury factors after treatment with hepatotoxicants in 2D and 3D culture models. Cell cytotoxicity and liver injury factors were confirmed by human induced-pluripotent stem cells. The expression of the liver injury factors were increasd, as results of the WST-1 and CellTiter decreased on concentration-dependently. In conclusion, the expression of liver injury factors were found to be higher in 2D cultures. However, it was confirmed that the reactivity was different depending on the cell death mechanism of the drugs.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the effects of a 1-night, 2-day mental health healing center program on the physical stress, autonomic nervous system health, brain activity levels, brain stress, concentration levels, and Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) scores of dementia patients and their caregivers. Methods: Forty-eight dementia patients (average age 80 years, 14 males and 34 females) and 48 caregivers (average age 65.23 years, 14 males and 34 females) participated in the program. Pre- and post-assessments were conducted to measure the variables. Results: Dementia patients experienced reduced physical stress, increased brain activity levels, decreased brain stress, improved concentration levels, and a significant decrease in PHQ-9 scores (p<0.05). However, there was a tendency for a decline in autonomic nervous system health among dementia patients. A significant decrease in physical stress was seen in caregivers, but no other significant differences were observed. Conclusions: While the 1-night, 2-day mental health healing center program did not produce significant changes in the caregivers of dementia patients, it exhibited overall positive effects in dementia patients. Consequently, mental healing programs should be utilized effectively for dementia patients. Furthermore, investigating the significance of ongoing programs for the mental well-being of dementia caregivers is imperative, mirroring the attention given to dementia patient care.
HIL Simulation Approach for Feasibility Study of a Tram with an Onboard Hybrid Energy Storage System

A hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulator was designed and fabricated for feasibility study of the tram with onboard hybrid energy storage system comprising the Li battery and the ultra-capacitor. HIL simulator consists of the software part including the vehicle model, the energy storage system model, and control algorithm; and the hardware testbench containing a induction motor for the load, a permanent magnet synchronous motor to emulate the traction motor, and the electric drivers. The vehicle model of the HIL simulation system was validated with the test results. A power distribution algorithm is proposed to control the hybrid energy storage system to increase the capacity and the peak current. The Simulation results show that the hybrid energy storage system for the tram gives better efficient power and durability compared with the battery alone system.
