IMPROVEMENT OF TRANSIENT OPERATION CONTROLLABILITY IN ENGINE TEST BENCH FOR HEAVY-DUTY VEHICLES

In this study, two kinds of control methods for the transient operation of an engine test bench for heavy-duty vehicles were applied in the JE05 test cycle and World Harmonized Transient Cycle (WHTC) test conditions in order to evaluate the controllability of transient operations and the effect on emissions. One control method uses dynamometer torque with its inertia correction as the feedback signal (dyno torque F/B control); the other method uses axial torque measured by a flange-type high-response torque meter as the feedback signal (axial torque F/B control). The transient operation controllability using the axial torque F/B control improved compared with the dyno torque F/B control. The results influence NOx emissions in the emissions test cycle, such as JE05 and WHTC, with the engine test bench. Axial torque F/B control could become a more useful technique when it is required to improve the reproducibility of real driving conditions.
Raman Scattering Study of Antiferroelectric Phase Transition in Cu(HCOO)2-4H2O

Micro-Raman scattering spectra of copper formate tetrahydrate, Cu(HCOO)24H2O, were observed above and below the antiferroelectric phase transition temperature with special attention to internal modes of HCOO and H2O molecules. In the antiferroelectric phase, the symmetric stretching vibration in HCOO at 1375 cm1 splits into two modes and the degree of splitting increases with decreasing temperature. The splitting is caused by doubling of the unit cell, rather than inequivalence of the molecular site due to the reduction in symmetry. Two Ag spectra observed in b(aa)b and a(cc)a geometries show the different temperature dependence in the frequency regions of H2O symmetric stretching and C-H symmetric stretching vibrations. The dierence is discussed in terms of the two-dimensional arrangement of H2O layers in the crystal.
Beam Spot Imaging System Using a Fluorescent Screen for Carbon-ion Radiotherapy

A two-dimensional (2D) beam imaging system with a fluorescent intensifying screen and highspeedcharge-coupled device (CCD) camera was developed to observe the fluctuations of the beamposition and size. This system can perform imaging of the beam spot and the calculation of bothits position and size from the obtained image with a cycle-time of 20 ms. For quality assurance ofscanned carbon-ion therapy, we measured the stability of the unscanned-beam position and size byusing this system at the isocenter in a treatment room. We confirmed that the fluctuation rangesof its position and size were less than the tolerance for scanning irradiation.
ACAUSAL MODELING METHOD AND ITS VERIFICATION OF ENGINE CYCLE SIMULATION FOR EMISSIONS PREDICTION

In recent years, acausal modeling languages such as Modelica and VHDL-AMS have been used for model- based development. In this research, a cycle simulation model using an acausal modeling language for predicting the emissions of an internal combustion engine was developed for application to a vehicle simulation model for energy and emissions analysis. In order to develop simulation models with higher versatility and extensibility using an acausal modeling language, it is necessary to design the structure and hierarchy by understanding its rules and constraints. Hence, the modeling method of the engine cycle simulation using the acausal modeling language Modelica for emissions prediction was discussed. Furthermore, nitrogen oxide emissions were calculated using the developed model, and their accuracy was validated by comparison with experimental data on a spark ignition engine.

Advancing globalization and the development of new communication technologies and transφ때on methods have transforrned the daily lives of the people, even their inner 띠nds. In other words, not only our material culture but our spiritual culture has been transforrned. At the time of the birth of the first museums in ]apan, they put top priority on collecting, protecting and preserving cultural artifacts scattered by the late nineteenth century anti-Buddhist movement, but eventually a museum building boom was triggered by the flourishing of regional cultures. However since the late nineteen-seventies, in the face of a growing demand for the perfection of the human mind, we tumed to emphasizing the operation of museums open to the public rather than closed museums, as we faced a demand that museums and art galleries become places for life-long learning. This means priority on the educational functions of museums. Today it is museum management that is the most irnportant issue. πl?s paper describes the revision to the Museum Law in ]apan, which has amended in 2008. 까le points in the revised Museum Law, background to the revision, museum registration system and ]apanese current situations are described.
Infrared Reflectance in GaN/AlGaN Triangular Stripes Grown on Si(111) Substrates by MOVPE

Infrared reflectance spectroscopy was applied to the GaN/AlGaN triangular stripes grown on a Si(111) substrate by selective area metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy. Because of the triangular shape of the GaN, which worked itself as a prism, we could detect the local vibration modes of Si-N, N-H$_2$, Si-H, and Si-O bonds near the GaN/Si interface with high sensitivity.
