<P>Multifunctional magnetic nanoparticles have shown great promise as next-generation imaging and perturbation probes for deciphering molecular and cellular processes. As a consequence of multicomponent integration into a single nanosystem, pre-existing nanoprobes are typically large and show limited access to biological targets present in a crowded microenvironment. Here, we apply organic-phase surface PEGylation, click chemistry, and charge-based valency discrimination principles to develop compact, modular, and monovalent magnetofluorescent nanoparticles (MFNs). We show that MFNs exhibit highly efficient labeling to target receptors present in cells with a dense and thick glycocalyx layer. We use these MFNs to interrogate the E-cadherin-mediated adherens junction formation and F-actin polymerization in a three-dimensional space, demonstrating the utility as modular and versatile mechanogenetic probes in the most demanding single-cell perturbation applications.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
Effects of Low Reynolds Number on Loss Characteristics in Transonic Axial Compressor

<P>A three-dimensional computation was conducted to understand effects of low Reynolds numbers on loss characteristics in a transonic axial compressor, Rotor 67. As a gas turbine becomes smaller and it operates at high altitude, the engine frequently operates under low Reynolds number conditions. This study found that large viscosity significantly affects the location and intensity of the passage shock, which moves toward the leading edge and has decreased intensity at low Reynolds number. This change greatly affects performance as well as internal flows, such as pressure distribution on the blade surface, tip leakage flow and separation. The total pressure ratio and adiabatic efficiency both decreased by about 3% with decreasing Reynolds number. At detailed analysis, the total pressure loss was subdivided into four loss categories such as profile loss, tip leakage loss, endwall loss and shock loss.</P>

<P>We study the partial regularity of suitable weak solutions to the three dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations. There have been several attempts to refine the Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg criterion (1982). We present an improved version of the CKN criterion with a direct method, which also provides the quantitative relation in Seregin's criterion (2007).</P>

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We study the partial regularity problem of the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations. A reverse Hölder inequality of velocity gradient with increasing support is obtained under the condition that a scaled functional corresponding the local kinetic energy is uniformly bounded. As an application, we give a new bound for the Hausdorff dimension and the Minkowski dimension of singular set when weak solutions <I>v</I> belong to <SUP> L ∞ </SUP> ( 0 , T ; <SUP> L 3 , w </SUP> ( <SUP> R 3 </SUP> ) ) where <SUP> L 3 , w </SUP> ( <SUP> R 3 </SUP> ) denotes the standard weak Lebesgue space.</P>

Purpose: To report our intermediate-term, multi-institutional experience after robotic ureteral reconstruction for the management of long-segment proximal ureteral strictures. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed our Collaborative of Reconstructive Robotic Ureteral Surgery (CORRUS) database to identify all patients who underwent robotic ureteral reconstruction for long-segment (≥4 centimeters) proximal ureteral strictures between August 2012 and June 2019. The primary surgeon determined the specific technique to reconstruct the ureter at time of surgery based on the patient's clinical history and intraoperative findings. Our primary outcome was surgical success, which we defined as the absence of ureteral obstruction on radiographic imaging and absence of obstructive flank pain. Results: Of 20 total patients, 4 (20.0%) underwent robotic ureteroureterostomy (RUU) with downward nephropexy (DN), 2 (10.0%) underwent robotic ureterocalycostomy (RUC) with DN, and 14 (70.0%) underwent robotic ureteroplasty with buccal mucosa graft (RU-BMG). Median stricture length was 4 centimeters (interquartile range [IQR], 4–4; maximum, 5), 6 centimeters (IQR, 5–7; maximum, 8), and 5 centimeters (IQR, 4–5; maximum, 8) for patients undergoing RUU with DN, RUC with DN, and RU-BMG, respectively. At a median follow-up of 24 (IQR, 14–51) months, 17/20 (85.0%) cases were surgically successful. Two of four patients (50.0%) who underwent RUU with DN developed stricture recurrences within 3 months. Conclusions: Long-segment proximal ureteral strictures may be safely and effectively managed with RUC with DN and RU-BMG. Although RUU with DN can be utilized, this technique may be associated with a higher failure rate.
