Shaking Table Test Study on Dynamic Response of Bedding Rock Slope with Weak Rock

        Mingzhu Guo,Chen Wang,He Zhang,Kunsheng Gu,Huang Liu 대한토목학회 2022 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.26 No.8

A shaking table model test was conducted to study the dynamic response and failure mechanism of a bedding rock slope with weak rock layer based on the “Xiaguiwa” landslide in the Jinsha River basin of Sichuan-Tibet. The influence of schist-like weak rock layer on bedding rock slope is considered. The test results show that the Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) amplification coefficient varies rhythmically from the inside to the surface of the slope, and 0.3 gand 0.6 g are the slope appears cracking and instability. schist-like weak rock layer makes the seismic wave enhance obviously, but in the slope flexure position, the seismic wave near the weak rock layer is slightly weakened instead, and the maximum displacement often occurs above the weak rock layer. the “bucking” occurs at 1/4 of the slope height, and the fracture degree at the middle and lower part of the slope is greater than that at the middle and upper part, and the slope damage surface appears to be “concave at the top and convex at the bottom”. The damage process of the model slope is divided into four stages. The model test results reflect the influence of the weak rock layer on the seismic dynamic response and damage process of the bedding rock slope.

      • Cantonese morning tea (Yum Cha): a bite of Cantonese culture

        Guo Kaiwei,Zhang Na,Zhang Jianfen,Zhang Manman,Zhou Mingzhu,Zhang Yue,Ma Guansheng 한국식품연구원 2023 Journal of Ethnic Foods Vol.10 No.12

Among various types of breakfast in China, Cantonese morning tea (Yum Cha) is unique in its form and feature. Morning tea is a Cantonese tradition of morning activity, originated in the Qing dynasty. After years of change, it has evolved to the current form, serving an assortment of small dishes (dim sum) alongside Chinese tea. The classification of Chinese tea is based on the colors, shapes, aroma, and fermentation degree. Several types of dim sum dishes in Guangdong are categorized according to the region, ingredients selection, taste, and cooking methods. Yum Cha has a unique etiquette that is different from the folk cultures in other areas. Morning tea plays an essential role in influencing the dietary patterns and eating habits of Cantonese people. In addition, morning tea supports social interactions and connections of daily human life, providing a practical and acceptable channel for old friendships to nurture and new bonds to build. As a symbol of local culture, morning tea shapes Cantonese people physically and mentally. Therefore, the Yum Cha culture should be valued and propagated.

Proportional Integral Observer-based Consensus Control of Discrete-time Multi-agent Systems

        Renyang You,Mingzhu Tang,Shenghui Guo,Guozeng Cui 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2022 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.20 No.5

The multi-agent consensus control is widely used in industrial application, such as industrial robot, satellite attitude control, etc. Therefore, this paper studies the consensus control problem of multi-agent systems. For discrete-time Lipschitz nonlinear multi-agent systems with unknown inputs, a consensus control algorithm based on proportional integral observer is proposed. Firstly, a proportional integral observer is designed for each subsystem to estimate the system states and unknown input signals simultaneously. Then, a consensus control protocol based on the system state estimation is designed, and H∞ technique is used to effectively suppress the unknown input signals. Furthermore, the gain matrices of the observer and consensus control are obtained by solving a linear matrix inequality. Finally, two simulation examples show the correctness and feasibility of the proposed method.

Protocatechuic Aldehyde Represses Proliferation and Migration of Breast Cancer Cells through Targeting C-terminal Binding Protein 1

        Yu Deng,Wanjun Guo,Guancheng Li,Shuang Li,Hong Li,Xinyan Li,Bei Niu,Mingzhu Song,Yamei Zhang,Zhijian Xu,Fulun Li 한국유방암학회 2020 Journal of breast cancer Vol.23 No.1

Purpose: C-terminal binding protein 1 (CtBP1) is a transcriptional co-repressor that is overexpressed in many cancers. CtBP1 transcriptionally represses a broad array of tumor suppressors, which promotes cancer cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and resistance to apoptosis. Recent studies have demonstrated that CtBP1 is a potential target for cancer therapy. This study was designed to screen for compounds that potentially target CtBP1. Methods: Using a structure-based virtual screening for CtBP1 inhibitors, we found protocatechuic aldehyde (PA), a natural compound found in the root of a traditional Chinese herb, Salvia miltiorrhiza, that directly binds to CtBP1. Microscale thermophoresis assay was performed to determine whether PA and CtBP1 directly bind to each other. Further, clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats associated Cas9 nuclease-mediated CtBP1 knockout in breast cancer cells was used to validate the CtBP1 targeting specificity of PA. Results: Functional studies showed that PA repressed the proliferation and migration of breast cancer cells. Furthermore, PA elevated the expression of the downstream targets of CtBP1, p21 and E-cadherin, and decreased CtBP1 binding affinity for the promoter regions of p21 and E-cadherin in breast cancer cells. However, PA did not affect the expression of p21 and E-cadherin in the CtBP1 knockout breast cancer cells. In addition, the CtBP1 knockout breast cancer cells showed resistance to PA-induced repression of proliferation and migration. Conclusion: Our findings demonstrated that PA directly bound to CtBP1 and inhibited the growth and migration of breast cancer cells through CtBP1 inhibition. Structural modifications of PA are further required to enhance its binding affinity and selectivity for CtBP1.
