Determination of Thermal Conductivities of Solid and Liquid Phases for Rich-Sn Compositions of Sn-Mg Alloy

        Fatma Meydaneri,Mehmet Gündüz,Mehmet Özdemir,Buket Saatçi 대한금속·재료학회 2012 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.18 No.1

The variations of thermal conductivities of solid phases versus temperature for pure Sn and Sn-1 wt% Mg,Sn-2 wt% Mg, and Sn-6 wt% Mg binary alloys were measured with a radial heat flow apparatus. Thermal conductivity variations versus temperature for pure Sn and Sn-1 wt% Mg, Sn-2 wt% Mg, and Sn-6 wt% Mg binary alloys were found to be 60.60 ± 3.63, 61.99 ± 3.71, 68.29 ± 4.09, and 82.04 ± 4.92 W/Km, respectively. The thermal conductivity ratios of liquid phase to solid phase for pure Sn and eutectic Sn-2 wt% Mg alloy at their melting temperature were found to be 1.11 and 1.08, respectively, with a Bridgman type directional solidification apparatus. Thus the thermal conductivities of liquid phases for pure Sn and eutectic Sn-2 wt%Mg binary alloy at their melting temperature were evaluated to be 67.26 ± 4.03 and 73.75 ± 4.42 W/Km,respectively, by using the values of solid phase thermal conductivities and the thermal conductivity ratios of the liquid phase to the solid phase.

Effect of a Mediterranean-style diet on the exercise performance and lactate elimination on adolescent athletes

        Helvacı Gizem,Uçar Aslı,Çelebi Mehmet Mesut,Çetinkaya Haydar,Gündüz Ayşe Zülal 한국영양학회 2023 Nutrition Research and Practice Vol.17 No.4

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Mediterranean diet is an environmentally friendly and healthy diet model. The diet offers many vegetables, fruits, nuts, and olive oil to consumers. In addition, it provides moderate amounts of fish and chicken, smaller quantities of dair y products, red meat, and processed meat. The Mediterranean diet has a high anti- inflammator y and antioxidant content, and it causes many physiological changes that can provide a physical performance advantage. This study examined the effects of a 15-day menu, which was planned using foods with a low acid load within the Mediterranean diet rules, on the exercise performance, lactate elimination, anthropometric measurements, and body composition. SUBJECTS/METHODS: Fifteen professional male athletes between the ages of 13 and 18, who were engaged in ski running, were included in the experimental study. Dietar y inter vention was applied for 15 days. The athlete performances were evaluated by applying the vertical jump test, hand grip strength, 20 meters shuttle run test, and Borg fatigue scale. After the shuttle run test (ever y 3 min for 30 min), blood was drawn from the finger, and the lactate elimination time was calculated. Performance and lactate measurements, body analysis, and anthropometric measurements were taken before and after dietar y inter vention. RESULTS: The vertical jump height and hand grip strength increased after the inter vention (P < 0.05). The test duration, total distance, the number of shuttles, and maximum oxygen consumption parameters of the shuttle run test increased (P < 0.05). After the inter vention, the athletes’ perceived fatigue scores decreased in several stages of the shuttle run test (P < 0.05). The lactate elimination time and athlete’s body composition were similar in repeated measurements (P > 0.05). In the last measurements, the upper middle arm circumference decreased while the height of the athletes increased (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: These results show that the Mediterranean diet is a safe and feasible dietar y approach for aerobic performance and strength increase.

Validity and Reliability of Cognitive Attentional Syndrome-1 Questionnaire

        Anıl Gü,ndü,z,İ,brahim Gü,ndoğ,muş,Sencan Sertç,elik,Betü,l Hacer Engin,Aysel İ,ş,ler,Arif Ç,ipil,Hatice Gö,,l,Aliş,an Burak Yaş,ar,Mehmet 대한신경정신의학회 2019 PSYCHIATRY INVESTIGATION Vol.16 No.5

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Turkish version of Cognitive Attentional Syndrome-1 (CAS-1) questionnaire. Methods: 221 participants were included in the study who do not meet any psychiatric diagnosis. Participants were applied SCID I and II and filled CAS-1 scale, Meta-Cognitions Questionnaire-30 (MCQ-30), Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) Scale, and Penn State Worry Questionnaire (PSWQ). Testing the reliability Cronbach’s alpha, item analysis and Item and total score correlation coefficients were applied. For testing structural validity, Confirmatory Factor Analysis was used, and for testing the content validity, the relationship between each item of CAS-1 and MCQ-30, BDI, BAI, GAD-7, PSWQ was examined. Results: The correlation reliability coefficients were statistically significant except for using alcohol/drugs as a coping mechanism. Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient of 16 items was 0.771 whereas, this ratio was 0.772 for the first eight items (CAS) and 0.685 for the last eight items (Metacognitive Beliefs) which showed that the internal consistency of CAS-1 was high. Structural and Content Validity of the scale was significant. Conclusion: The Turkish version of the CAS-1 was a reliable and valid measure to evaluate CAS in a Turkish population.
