Effect of Sintering Temperature on the Micro Strain and Magnetic Properties of Ni-Zn Nanoferrites

In this study, nanocrystalline ferrite powders with the composition Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe₂O₄ were prepared by the autocombustion method. The obtained powders were sintered at 800℃, 900℃ and 1,000℃ for 4 h in air atmosphere. The as-prepared and the sintered powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, and magnetization studies. An increase in the crystallite size and a slight decrease in the lattice constant with sintering temperature were observed, whereas microstrain was observed to be negative for all the samples. Two significant absorption bands in the wave number range of the 400 cm<SUP>?1</SUP> to 600 cm<SUP>?1</SUP> have been observed in the FT-IR spectra for all samples which is the distinctive feature of the spinel ferrites. The force constants were found to vary with sintering temperature, suggesting a cation redistribution and modification in the unit cell of the spinel. The M-H loops indicate smaller coercivity, which is the typical nature of the soft ferrites. The observed variation in the saturation magnetization and coercivity with sintering temperature has been attributed to the role of surface, inhomogeneous cation distribution, and increase in the crystallite size.

To extract hand tracks and hand shape features from continuous sign language videos for gesture classification using backpropagation neural network. Horn Schunck optical flow (HSOF) extracts tracking features and Active Contours (AC) extract shape features. A feature matrix characterizes the signs in continuous sign videos. A neural network object with backpropagation training algorithm classifies the signs into various words sequences in digital format. Digital word sequences are translated into text with matching and the suiting text is voice translated using windows application programmable interface (Win-API). Ten signers, each doing sentences having 30 words long tests the performance of the algorithm by computing word matching score (WMS). The WMS is varying between 88 and 91 percent when executed on different cross platforms on various processors such as Windows8 with Inteli3, Windows8.1 with inteli3 and windows10 with inteli3 running MATLAB13(a).

We discuss the Hall effects on steady hydro magnetic flow of couple stress fluid in a rotating parallel plate channel bounded by a porous bed on one side. The exact solutions for the velocities in the clean fluid region and porous medium have been obtained analytically. Their behaviour has been discussed computationally with reference to the various governing parameters. The shear stresses on the boundaries also obtained analytically and discussed computationally.

Geometrical thickness of photoelectrode is one of the important design considerations that can substantially improve the device performance in Quantum Dot Sensitized Solar cells. The present work deals with the influence of the Photoanode (PA) thickness on the photovoltaic performance of these excitonic solar cells. Optical, morphological and electrochemical properties of these films are studied using UV eVisible spectroscopy, Scanning electron microscopy and Cyclic Voltammetry. Sandwich solar cells assembled using these PAs are further characterized using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy and Chronoamperometry to investigate the electron transfer processes occurring at the sensitized photoelectrode/ Electrolyte interface. These cells are then evaluated for their photovoltaic performance using JV characteristics. The results obtained are explained qualitatively invoking the thickness dependent parameters like Light harvesting efficiency and Electron transfer yield to establish the effect of PA thickness on the solar cell performance.

Semi oblate and semi prolate are among the most probable self-organized nanostructures shapes. The optoelectronic properties of such nanostructures are not just manipulated with the height and lateral size but also with the wetting layer element. The practical interest of derivatives of germanium and silicon has a great important role in optoelectronic devices. This study is a contribution to the analysis of linear and nonlinear optical properties of Si0.7Ge0.3/Si. In the framework of the effective mass approximation, we solve numerically the Schr¨odinger equation relative to one particle confined in Si0.7Ge0.3/Si semi prolate and semi oblate quantum dots by using the finite element method and by taking into consideration the effect of the wetting layer. The energy spectrum of the lowest states and the dipolar matrix for the fourth allowed transitions are determined and discussed. We also calculate the detailed optical properties, including absorption coefficients, refractive index changes, second and third harmonic generation as a function of the quantum dot sizes. We found that with the change in the size of prolate and oblate quantum dots, there is a shift in the resonance peaks for the absorption coefficient and refractive index. It is due to the modification in the energy levels with changing size. The study proves a redshift in the second harmonic generation and third harmonic generation coefficients with an increase in the height/radius of the oblate/prolate quantum dot, respectively. We also demonstrated the variation of wavefunction inside the quantum dot with the change in wetting layer thickness.
Experimental Heat and Mass Transfer Coefficients of a Two Stage Spray and Packed Bed Deaerator

Experiments are conducted to study the influence of mass flow rate on heat and mass transfer coefficients in a two stage deaerator consisting of a spray stage and packed bed combination. It has been observed that an increase in mass flow rate of water increases the heat transfer coefficients in both the stages of the deaerator, whereas the mass transfer coefficients increases in the first and decreases in the second stage. The heat transfer coefficient in the spray stage is 300 times greater than that obtained in the packed bed. The mass transfer coefficient decreased by 2 times in the second stage with increase in flow rate in the range of experiments conducted. It has been observed that oxygen can be reabsorbed by the outgoing feed water under certain conditions of flow.
