A Survey of QoS Based Routing Protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks

Sumathi, R.,Srinivas, M.G. Korea Information Processing Society 2012 Journal of information processing systems Vol.8 No.4

With the increasing demand for real time applications in the Wireless Senor Network (WSN), real time critical events anticipate an efficient quality-of-service (QoS) based routing for data delivery from the network infrastructure. Designing such QoS based routing protocol to meet the reliability and delay guarantee of critical events while preserving the energy efficiency is a challenging task. Considerable research has been focused on developing robust energy efficient QoS based routing protocols. In this paper, we present the state of the research by summarizing the work on QoS based routing protocols that has already been published and by highlighting the QoS issues that are being addressed. The performance comparison of QoS based routing protocols such as SAR, MMSPEED, MCMP, MCBR, and EQSR has also been analyzed using ns-2 for various parameters.

        INNOVATION ALGORITHM IN ARMA PROCESS

        Sreenivasan, M.,Sumathi, K. 한국전산응용수학회 1998 Journal of applied mathematics & informatics Vol.5 No.2

Most of the works in Time Series Analysis are based on the Auto Regressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) models presented by Box and Jeckins(1976). If the data exhibits no ap-parent deviation from stationarity and if it has rapidly decreasing autocorrelation function then a suitable ARIMA(p,q) model is fit to the given data. Selection of the orders of p and q is one of the crucial steps in Time Series Analysis. Most of the methods to determine p and q are based on the autocorrelation function and partial autocor-relation function as suggested by Box and Jenkins (1976). many new techniques have emerged in the literature and it is found that most of them are over very little use in determining the orders of p and q when both of them are non-zero. The Durbin-Levinson algorithm and Innovation algorithm (Brockwell and Davis 1987) are used as recur-sive methods for computing best linear predictors in an ARMA(p,q)model. These algorithms are modified to yield an effective method for ARMA model identification so that the values of order p and q can be determined from them. The new method is developed and its validity and usefulness is illustrated by many theoretical examples. This method can also be applied to an real world data.

      • A New Adaptive-Weighted Fusion Rule for Wavelet based PET/CT Fusion

        R. Barani,M. Sumathi 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Signal Processing, Image Vol.9 No.11

In recent years the Wavelet Transform (WT) had an important role in various applications of signal and image processing. In Image Processing, WT is more useful in many domains like image denoising, feature segmentation, compression, restoration, image fusion, etc. In WT based image fusion, initially the source images are decomposed into approximation and detail coefficients and followed by combining the coefficients using the suitable fusion rules. The resultant fused image is reconstructed by applying inverse WT on the combined coefficients. This paper proposes a new adaptive fusion rule for combining the approximation coefficients of CT and PET images. The Excellency of the proposed fusion rule is stamped by measuring the image information metrics, EOG, SD and ENT on the decomposed approximation coefficients. On the other hand, the detail coefficients are combined using several existing fusion rules. The resultant fused images are quantitatively analyzed using the non-reference image quality, image fusion and error metrics. The analysis declares that the newly proposed fusion rule is more suitable for extracting the complementary information from CT and PET images and also produces the fused image which is rich in content with good contrast and sharpness.

Proteomic Changes in Chick Brain Proteome Post Treatment with Lathyrus Sativus Neurotoxin, β-N-Oxalyl-L-α,β-Diaminopropionic Acid (L-ODAP): A Better Insight to Transient Neurolathyrism

        Anil Kumar, D,Natarajan, Sumathi,Omar, Nabil A M Bin,Singh, Preeti,Bhimani, Rohan,Singh, Surya Satyanarayana Korean Society of ToxicologyKorea Environmental Mu 2018 Toxicological Research Vol.34 No.3

Neurolathyrism is a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by spastic paraplegia resulting from the excessive consumption of Lathyrus sativus (Grass pea). ${\beta}$-N-Oxalyl-L-${\alpha},{\beta}$-diaminopropionic acid (L-ODAP) is the primary neurotoxic component in this pea. The present study attempted to evaluate the proteome-wide alterations in chick brain 2 hr and 4 hr post L-ODAP treatment. Proteomic analysis of chick brain homogenates revealed several proteins involved in cytoskeletal structure, signaling, cellular metabolism, free radical scavenging, oxidative stress and neurodegenerative disorders were initially up-regulated at 2 hr and later recovered to normal levels by 4 hr. Since L-ODAP mediated neurotoxicity is mainly by excitotoxicity and oxidative stress related dysfunctions, this study further evaluated the role of L-ODAP in apoptosis in vitro using human neuroblastoma cell line, IMR-32. The in vitro studies carried out at $200{\mu}M$ L-ODAP for 4 hr indicate minimal intracellular ROS generation and alteration of mitochondrial membrane potential though not leading to apoptotic cell death. L-ODAP at low concentrations can be explored as a stimulator of various reactive oxygen species (ROS) mediated cell signaling pathways not detrimental to cells. Insights from our study may provide a platform to explore the beneficial side of L-ODAP at lower concentrations. This study is of significance especially in view of the Government of India lifting the ban on cultivation of low toxin Lathyrus varieties and consumption of this lentil.
