Casting Defects of Ti-6Al-4V Alloy in Vertical Centrifugal Casting Processes with Graphite Molds

        Limin Jia,Daming Xu,Min Li,Jingjie Guo,Hengzhi Fu 대한금속·재료학회 2012 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.18 No.1

Numerical simulation and experimental investigation are utilized to analyze the casting defects of Ti-6Al-4V alloy formed under different vertical centrifugal casting conditions in graphite molds. Mold rotating rates of 0, 110 and 210 rpm are considered in experimental process. Results show that centrifugal forces have significant effects on the quantity of both macropores and microdefects (micropores, microcracks and inclu-sions). The relative amount of all macro- and micro-scopic casting defects decreases from 62.4 % to 24.8 %with the increasing of the centrifugal force, and the macropore quantity in stepped casting decreases expo-nentially with the increase of the gravitation coefficient. The relative proportions of both micropores and microcracks decrease with the mold-rotating rate increase, but the relative proportion of inclusions increases significantly. Besides this, the mold-filling sequence is proved to be an important factor in casting quality control.

A design of transmission-type multi-target X-ray tube based on electric field modulation

        Zhao, Lei,Jia, Wenbao,Jin, Limin,Shan, Qing,Cheng, Can,Zhu, Hongkui,Hei, Daqian Korean Nuclear Society 2021 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.53 No.9

Multi-target X-ray tube is a new type X-ray source, and can be applied in many fields such as sensitive X-ray fluorescence analysis and medical imaging. In this work, we report an electric field modulation multi-target X-ray tube, which contains four targets (Cr, Ni, Au, Mo) coated on a Beryllium (Be) window. A four-valve electric field deflector was developed to deflect the electron beam to bombard the corresponding targets. Particle dynamics analysis software was employed to simulate the particle tracking of electron beam. The results show that the 30 keV electron beam could get a 6.7 mm displacement on the target plane by 105 V/m electric field. The focus areas are about 2 mm × 5 mm and 4 mm × 2.5 mm after deflection in two directions. Thermal behavior calculated by ANSYS shows that the designed target assembly could withstand a 10 W continuous power. The optimum target thicknesses and emission spectra were obtained by Geant4 when the thickness of Be window was 300 mm and the electron beam incident angle was 0.141 rad. The results indicate that this multi-target X-ray tube could provide different X-ray sources effectively.

Fault Diagnosis for High Order Systems Based on Model Decomposition

        Xiukun Wei,Lihua Liu,Limin Jia 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2013 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.11 No.1

Fault detection observer and fault estimation filter are the main tools for the model based fault diagnosis approach. The dimension of the observer gain normally depends on the system order and the system output dimension. The fault estimation filter traditionally has the same order as the monitored system. For high order systems, these methods have the potential problems such as parameter optimization and the real time implementation on-board for applications. In this paper, the system dynamical model is first decomposed into two subsystems. The first subsystem has a low order which is the same as the fault dimension. The other subsystem is not affected by the fault directly. With the new model structure, a fault detection approach is proposed where only the residual of the first subsystem is designed to be sensitive to the faults. The residual of the second subsystem is totally decoupled from the faults. Moreover, a lower order fault estimation filter (with the same dimension of the fault) design algorithm is investigated. In addition, the design of a static fault estimation matrix is presented for further improving the fault estimation precision. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by a simulation example.

Hybrid-Fiber-Reinforced Composite Boards Made of Recycled Aramid Fibers: Preparation and Puncture Properties

        Yu-Chun Chuang,Limin Bao,Ching-Wen Lou,Jia-Horng Lin 한국섬유공학회 2019 Fibers and polymers Vol.20 No.2

Protective textiles require massive consumption of fibers and fabrics, which is responsible for diverse highstrength fabric waste. Wrongly arranged disposal of textile waste is equivalent to the waste valuable resource while causing environmental pollutions. Aramid selvages are worthwhile recycling and used in this study. They are scattered into Aramidstaple fibers and mixed with low melting point polyester (LMPET) fibers to form the Aramid matrices employing the nonwoven process. The matrices are added to different combinations to form Aramid composite matrices and hybrid-fiberreinforced composite boards. The process of shearing, crowding, and friction helps improve the mechanical properties of the composite boards according to the evaluations of conducted tests. With the premise of minimum damage to the fibers, this study uses recycled Aramid waste to produce composite boards that have features of high performance and low productioncost. As a test result, the hybrid-fiber-reinforced composite boards with 90 wt% of recycled Aramid fibers have the optimal mechanical property and static puncture resistance.

Frequency-Dependent Effects on Bladder Reflex by Saphenous Nerve Stimulation and a Possible Action Mechanism of Tibial Nerve Stimulation in Cats

        Xing Li,Xiaoping Wan,Zhaoxia Wang,Yanan Liang,Zhuo Jia,Xu Zhang,Limin Liao 대한배뇨장애요실금학회 2021 International Neurourology Journal Vol.25 No.2

Purpose: The present study determined the effects of saphenous nerve stimulation (SNS) at different stimulation frequencies on bladder reflex and explored a possible action mechanism of tibial nerve stimulation (TNS) on bladder activity in cats. Methods: Two bipolar nerve cuff electrodes were implanted on the saphenous nerve and the contralateral tibial nerve in 13 cats, respectively. Multiple cystometrograms were obtained to determine the effects of single SNS at different frequencies and that of combined SNS and TNS on the micturition reflex by infusing normal saline. Results: SNS at 1 Hz significantly reduced the bladder capacity (BC) to 59.8%±7.7% and 59.3%±5.8% of the control level at the intensity threshold (T) and 2T, respectively (P<0.05), while that at 20 Hz significantly increased the BC to 130.6%±4.2% of the control level at 6T (P<0.05). The TNS and SNS at 20 Hz did not significantly change the BCs at 1T (P>0.05), while combined stimulation at 1T significantly increased the BC to 122.7%±1.9% of the control level and induced an inhibitory effect which was similar to that TNS at 2T. Conclusions: The current study revealed that SNS reduced and increased BC depending on different stimulation frequencies. The combined SNS and TNS maximized the clinical efficacy at a low intensity. Also, SNS may be a potential therapeutic mechanism of TNS.

Genome Analysis and Optimization of Caproic Acid Production of Clostridium butyricum GD1-1 Isolated from the Pit Mud of Nongxiangxing Baijiu

        Li Min,Li Tao,Zheng Jia,Qiao Zongwei,Zhang Kaizheng,Luo Huibo,Zou Wei 한국미생물·생명공학회 2023 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.33 No.10

Caproic acid is a precursor substance for the synthesis of ethyl caproate, the main flavor substance of nongxiangxing baijiu liquor. In this study, Clostridium butyricum GD1-1, a strain with high caproic acid concentration (3.86 g/l), was isolated from the storage pit mud of nongxiangxing baijiu for sequencing and analysis. The strain’s genome was 3,840,048 bp in length with 4,050 open reading frames. In addition, virulence factor annotation analysis showed C. butyricum GD1-1 to be safe at the genetic level. However, the annotation results using the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes Automatic Annotation Server predicted a deficiency in the strain’s synthesis of alanine, methionine, and biotin. These results were confirmed by essential nutrient factor validation experiments. Furthermore, the optimized medium conditions for caproic acid concentration by strain GD1-1 were (g/l): glucose 30, NaCl 5, yeast extract 10, peptone 10, beef paste 10, sodium acetate 11, L-cysteine 0.6, biotin 0.004, starch 2, and 2.0% ethanol. The optimized fermentation conditions for caproic acid production by C. butyricum GD1-1 on a single-factor basis were: 5% inoculum volume, 35°C, pH 7, and 90% loading volume. Under optimal conditions, the caproic acid concentration of strain GD1-1 reached 5.42 g/l, which was 1.40 times higher than the initial concentration. C. butyricum GD1-1 could be further used in caproic acid production, NXXB pit mud strengthening and maintenance, and artificial pit mud preparation.
