This work aimed to investigate the effects of stored raw meat and process procedures onNε-carboxymethyl-lysine (CML) and Nε-carboxyethyl-lysine (CEL) generation in meat products. Meatproducts of raw pork were sterilized and pasteurized at different storage times (0-4 months) and theCML/CEL contents were determined. The results showed that the extent of lipid and protein oxidationof raw pork increased with increasing storage time. A linear correlation was found betweenthiobarbituric acid-reactive substances value/carbonyl content and CML/CEL in sterilized meatproducts, indicating that stored raw pork could promote CML/CEL formation under high temperatureprocessing. Furthermore, mild heating temperatures seemed to favor CML formation, while hightemperature could accelerate CEL generation. Therefore, formation kinetics of CML and CEL might bedifferent for different process procedures. These results suggested that stored raw meat andprocessing temperature could significantly affect CML and CEL generation in meat products.

Adsorptive removal of Rhodamine B (RhB) on a novel kind of magnetic metal–organic framework (MOF)was studied in view of adsorption isotherm, thermodynamics and kinetics. The adsorbent wascharacterized by physical property measurement system, X-ray diffraction and scanning electronmicroscopy. The adsorption isotherm of RhB on magnetic MOF followed the Freundlich model. Theresultant kinetics data was well described by the pseudo-second-order model. Most of the RhB wasremoved from the aqueous solution within 30 min. Thermodynamic parameters including Gibbs freeenergy, enthalpy, and entropy of adsorption were obtained. The result confirmed that the adsorption iscontrolled by an entropy effect rather than an enthalpy change. The maximum removal has beenachieved in the pH range of 4–8 at 150 rpm. The sorbent can be used at least five times after washingwith methanol including HCl (0.001 mol L 1). The p p stacking interaction and electrostatic interactionmay play an important role in the adsorption of RhB onto magnetic MOF. Compared with otheradsorbents, this kind of magnetic material demonstrated a superior dye adsorption capability.
Functional Characterization of Arabidopsis thaliana WRKY39 in Heat Stress
Shujia Li,Xiang Zhou,Ligang Chen,Weidong Huang,Diqiu Yu 한국분자세포생물학회 2010 Molecules and cells Vol.29 No.5
Arabidopsis thaliana WRKY39, a transcription factor that is induced by heat stress, is a member of the group II WRKY proteins and responds to both abiotic and biotic stress. Heat-treated seeds and plants of WRKY39 knock-down mutants had increased susceptibility to heat stress, show-ing reduced germination, decreased survival, and elevated electrolyte leakage compared with wild-type plants. In con-trast, WRKY39 over-expressing plants exhibited enhanced thermotolerance compared with wild-type plants. RT-PCR and qRT-PCR analysis of wrky39 mutants and WRKY39 over-expressing plants identified putative genes regulated by WRKY39. Consistent with a role for WRKY39 in heat tolerance, the expression levels of salicylic acid (SA)-regulated PR1 and SA-related MBF1c genes were down-regulated in wrky39 mutants. In contrast, over-expression of WRKY39 increased the expression of PR1 and MBF1c. The WRKY39 transcript was induced in response to treat-ment with SA or methyljasmonate. Analysis of heat stress-induced WRKY39 in defense signaling mutants, including coi1, ein2, and sid2, further indicated that WRKY39 was positively co-regulated by the SA and jasmonate (JA) sig-naling pathways. Together, these findings reveal that heat stress-induced WRKY39 positively regulates the coopera-tion between the SA- and JA-activated signaling pathways that mediate responses to heat stress.

Biomass carbon dots (CDs) prepared by sweet potato peels were superior fluorophores with low toxicity and excellent photostability. A novel designed fluorescence probe for specific recognition and sensitive detection of oxytetracycline (OTC) was fabricated with CDs and molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP). The quenching of CDs happened when rebinding with OTC due to electron-transfer-induced fluorescence quenching mechanism. The fluorescence probe was successfully applied in honey with the recoveries ranging from 90.2% to 97.3%. The detection limit of OTC was 15.3 ng mL−1. This work provides promising perspectives that the development of fluorescent MIP will be valuable for rapid analysis in complex samples.

In this study, magnetic carbon nanotubes (MCNTs) have been synthesized by hydrothermal synthesis ofFe3O4 nanoparticles onto carbon nanotubes, and characterized by Fourier transform infraredspectroscopy, transmission electron microscope and physical property measurement system. Theywere used as adsorbents for the removal of sudan I, sudan II, sudan III, and sudan IV from aqueoussolution. The effects of experimental parameters on adsorption were fully studied. The results showedthat 5 mg MCNTs can remove sudan dyes sufficiently from 20 mL aqueous solution within 60 min at pHin the range of 4–7. Moreover, the existence of NaCl favored the adsorption. The sorbents can be reusedmore than ten times with 2% acetic acid ethanol as desorption solution. The equilibrium, kinetic andthermodynamic studies were investigated. The resultant kinetic data were well described by the pseudosecond-order model. The Freundlich model fitted sudan dyes sorption isotherms better than theLangmuir model. The thermodynamic data calculated from the temperature dependent sorptionisotherms demonstrated that sudan dyes sorption on the MCNTs was a spontaneous process.

Graphics processing unit (GPU) based fast calculation method for computer generated spherical hologram (CGSH) of a real-existing object is proposed. Three-dimensional (3D) point cloud is constructed by capturing a real-existing object from multiple directions using a depth camera. The GPU based calculation is used in both hologram generation part and numerical reconstruction part of the CGSH. The improved calculation efficiency is verified by comparing the computation speed between central processing unit (CPU) based and GPU based implementation.
SEMG-based Upper Trapezius-specific Emotional Assessment System; Design and Implementation
Li, Gang,Chen, Hai-Feng,Gil, Yeong-Joon,Wu, Wan-Qing,Lee, Jung-Tae The Korean Society of Medical and Biological Engin 2009 의공학회지 Vol.30 No.5
Some serious neck diseases are closely related to negative emotion. In order to explain the etiology deeply, we assumed that upper trapezius is innervated by emotional motor system (EMS), a special motor system. And then we developed an upper trapezius-specific surface electromyography acquisition system concerned with its special innervation to prove our assumption. Through a targeted experiment, we found that upper trapezius is indeed innervated by EMS.
