Graphic Abstract
The cover shows an image of fully rollable transparent nanogenerators synthesized using chemical vapor deposition grown large-scale graphene sheets as transparent electrodes and piezoelectric ZnO nanorod arrays. Sang-Woo Kim, Jae-Young Choi, and co-workers report on p. 2187 the electrical and structural stability of the nanogenerators, with excellent charge scavenging performance under external mechanical loads such as bending and rolling. This study shows that graphene-based nanogenerators are very promising for self-powered rollable transparent device applications.

The purpose of this report is to evaluate effect of Korean medical treatment on idiopathic gonadotropin-dependent precocious puberty (G-DPP) patient received herbal medicine. We administered Aesopjiyoun-tang remedy to idiopathic G-DPP and analyzed the delay effect by hormonal value and radiographs; the height growth effect by measurement of height. After Korean medical treatment, suppression effect to peak- Luteinizing Hormone level (LHL) is 14.39IU/L to 10.9IU/L for 13month, growth effect to height value is 11cm/13month; and change of mean growth velocity (MGV) is 6.08cm/year to 10.06cm/year. The gain in height by treatment is 3.98cm/year. The result suggests Aesopjiyoun-tang can be an effective treatment for G-DPP. Herbal medicine can be used as an alternative treatment in place of the GnRH treatment.

The control of Ga doping in ZnO nanowires (NWs) by physical vapor deposition has been implemented and characterized. Various Ga-doped ZnO NWs were grown using the vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) method, with Au catalyst on c-plane sapphire substrate by hot-walled pulsed laser deposition (HW-PLD), one of the physical vapor deposition methods. The structural, optical and electrical properties of Ga-doped ZnO NWs have been systematically analyzed, by changing Ga concentration in ZnO NWs. We observed stacking faults and different crystalline directions caused by increasing Ga concentration in ZnO NWs, using SEM and HR-TEM. A $D^0X$ peak in the PL spectra of Ga doped ZnO NWs that is sharper than that of pure ZnO NWs has been clearly observed, which indicated the substitution of Ga for Zn. The electrical properties of controlled Ga-doped ZnO NWs have been measured, and show that the conductance of ZnO NWs increased up to 3 wt% Ga doping. However, the conductance of 5 wt% Ga doped ZnO NWs decreased, because the mean free path was decreased, according to the increase of carrier concentration. This control of the structural, optical and electrical properties of ZnO NWs by doping, could provide the possibility of the fabrication of various nanowire based electronic devices, such as nano-FETs, nano-inverters, nano-logic circuits and customized nano-sensors.
Effect of Post-Heat-Treatment on Various Characteristics of Commercial Pitch-Based Carbon Fibers
Sung-Bong Yoon,Chae-Wook Cho,Dong-Hwan Cho,Jong-Kyoo Park,Jae-Yeol Lee 한국탄소학회 2007 Carbon Letters Vol.8 No.2
In this study, commercially available pitch-based carbon fibers of general grade were post-heat-treated using a boxtype high temperature furnace at 1800℃, 2000˚, 2200℃, and 2400℃, respectively. The fundamental characteristics of each heat-treated carbon fibers were investigated in terms of chemical composition, morphology, thermal stability, X-ray diffraction, single filament tensile test, and electrical resistivity. The result showed that the fiber properties were significantly influenced by the post-heat-treatment, indicating the greater effect with increasing treatment temperature. The carbon contents, thermal stability, and tensile properties of the carbon fibers used here were further increased by the post-heat-treatment, whereas the d-spacing between graphene layers and the electrical resistivity were reduced with increasing post-heat-treatment temperature.
Proteomic analysis of RNA interference induced knockdown plant.
Lee, Sang Yeol,Lee, Kyun Oh Humana Press 2011 Methods in molecular biology Vol.744 No.-

RNA interference (RNAi) is a useful research tool for the specific deletion, or knockdown, of target genes that can be exploited both in cultured plant cells and in whole plants. In RNAi, hairpin RNA (hpRNA)-transduced lines are used to identify loss-of-function mutations in multi-copy genes with redundant functions in polyploid plant species. Plants transformed with hpRNA exhibit a range of phenotypes resulting from complete knockdown to weak suppression or tissue- and stage-specific knockdown. Functional genomics using proteomic analysis with two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE) and mass spectrometry provides valuable information about altered levels of expression of specific genes in biological samples. Here, we describe the proteomic analysis of Oryza sativa (Os) thioredoxin m (Ostrxm) knockdown using 2-DE and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS).
