Durante los años de la dictadura franquista, las revistas leonesas Espadaña y Claraboya significaron una desidencia destacada frente a la línea oficial de la lírica de su tiempo. Derivada de la voluntad humanista común, ambas publicaciones compartían una orientación solidaria, un compromiso humanitario que les hacía apostar por un compromiso crítico y una estética de carácter realista. Sin embargo, mientras Espadaña aposta por una estética próxima al realismo social, Claraboya busca un modo más eficaz de expresar las complejas relaciones entre realidad y arte en una nueva formulación de lo que denomina como "realismo dialéctico". Y es precisamente esa diferente comprensión de qué debe ser el realismo en arte, de raíz luckacsiana en el caso de Espadaña, de raíz brechtianan en el caso de Claraboya, lo que les lleva a ambas publicaciones a interpretar desde puntos de vista diferentes otros dos aspectos colindantes: la vinculación de poesía y vida, por una parte, y la admiración por la obra de César Vallejo, por otra.

This study compares quantitatively and qualitatively the ability of several different repair methods for the advanced composite sandwich structures, to reacquire the pre-damage mechanical properties. The results of this work may be used in the repair of honeycomb sandwich panel structures as used in the spoilers, rudder and floor panels of aircraft. The evaluation tests performed on the Nomex honeycomb sandwich panel with a graphite/epoxy skin include measuring initial mechanical properties by the 4 point bending test and edgewise compression test, and comparing them with the results obtained for damaged and repaired specimens. The damage types studied will be low energy impact, delamination, skin hole and penetrating holes on sandwich panel. One/two-sided cocured, precured skin patches and core replacement will be used in the repair assessment.

Accurate pre-operative localization and removal of disc material are important for minimizing morbidity in dogs with thoracolumbar disc extrusions. Computed tomography (CT) is an established technique for localizing disc extrusions in dogs, however the effect of multi-planar reformatting (MPR) on surgeon diagnostic performance has not been previously described. The purpose of this study was to test the effect of MPR CT on surgeon diagnostic accuracy, certainty and agreement for localizing thoracolumbar disc extrusions in dogs. Two veterinary surgeons and one veterinary neurologist who were unaware of surgical findings independently reviewed randomized sets of two-dimensional (2D) and MPR CT images from 111 dogs with confirmed thoracolumbar disc extrusions. For each set of images, readers recorded their localizations for extruded disc material and their diagnostic certainty. For MPR images, readers also recorded views they considered most helpful. Diagnostic accuracy estimates, mean diagnostic certainty scores and inter-observer agreement were compared using surgery as the gold standard. Frequencies were compared for MPR views rated most helpful. Diagnostic accuracy estimates were significantly greater for MPR vs. 2D CT images in one reader. Mean diagnostic certainty scores were significantly greater for MPR images in two readers. The change in agreement between 2D and MPR images differed from zero for all analyses (site, side, number affected) among all three readers. Multi-planar views rated most helpful with the highest frequency were oblique transverse and curved dorsal planar MPR views. Findings from this study indicate that multi-planar CT can improve surgeon diagnostic performance for localizing canine thoracolumbar disc extrusions.

<P>We present a photometric catalog for Spitzer Space Telescope warm mission observations of the North Ecliptic Pole (NEP; centered at R.A. = 18(h)00(m)00(s), decl. = 66(d)33(m)38(s).552). The observations are conducted with IRAC in the 3.6 and 4.5 mu m bands over an area of 7.04 deg(2), reaching 1 sigma depths of 1.29 mu Jy and 0.79 mu Jy in the 3.6 mu m and 4.5 mu m bands, respectively. The photometric catalog contains 380,858 sources with 3.6 and 4.5 mu m band photometry over the full-depth NEP mosaic. Point-source completeness simulations show that the catalog is 80% complete down to 19.7 AB. The accompanying catalog can be used for constraining the physical properties of extragalactic objects, studying the AGN population, measuring the infrared colors of stellar objects, and studying the extragalactic infrared background light.</P>

<P>We present near-infrared (0.8-1.8 mu m) spectra of 105 bright (m(J) < 10) stars observed with the low-resolution spectrometer on the rocket-borne Cosmic Infrared Background Experiment. As our observations are performed above the Earth ' s atmosphere, our spectra are free from telluric contamination, which makes them a unique resource for near-infrared spectral calibration. Two-Micron All-Sky Survey photometry information is used to identify crossmatched stars after reduction and extraction of the spectra. We identify the spectral types of the observed stars by comparing them with spectral templates from the Infrared Telescope Facility library. All the observed spectra are consistent with late F to M stellar spectral types, and we identify various infrared absorption lines.</P>
