Guide Following Control Using Laser Range Sensor for a Smart Wheelchair
Koji Miyazaki,Masafumi Hashimoto,Masanari Shimada,Kazuhiko Takahashi 제어로봇시스템학회 2009 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2009 No.8
This paper presents a guide following control(adriving support control) for a smart electric wheelchair, so that the wheelchair can follow a preceding person(guide). A walking guide is obtained from lasers can images by a nin-vehicle laser range sensor based on Kalman filter and data association, and the guide foot print is estimated. Based on position data of the foot print, acubicspline generate satarget path for the wheelchair. The wheelchair is controlled so that it can move along the guide foot print at a constant gap between the wheelchair and the guide. The experimental result validated the feasibility of the control method.
Leak detection in pipe using transient flow and genetic algorithm
김영준,Koji MIYAZAKI,Hiroshi TSUKAMOTO 대한기계학회 2008 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.22 No.10
An inverse transient method with genetic algorithm (GA) was applied to leak detection in pipeline. Transient flow caused by valve operation was calculated using the characteristics method. The location and discharge of leak were determined so that the difference of the calculated pressure may be minimized from the reference pressure calculated under a given leak condition. Calculations were done for the leak at one and two locations in pipeline. Furthermore, the effect of noise in pressure data was discussed, and the leak locations and leak discharges can be predicted precisely even in the case of noisy data.
Process optimization of preparing honeycomb-patterned polystyrene films by breath figure method
Yanqiong Zheng,Yuki Kubowaki,Makoto Kashiwagi,Koji Miyazaki 대한기계학회 2011 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.25 No.1
Honeycomb-patterned polystyrene film is prepared by breath figure method. Pore size with a few hundred nano-meter to several micro-meter diameters is generated by controlling various parameters, such as the polymer concentration, humidity, casting area and solvent. The pore size becomes larger with increasing humidity and temperature difference between air and substrate. Porous film can be formed by drying under high humidity. The density of solvents affect the pore shape and pore depth. Video observation indicates that in the formation process of the porous pattern water droplet condenses gradually on the surface, along with the migration of the droplet formation boundary line from the edge to the center, when the boundary line reaches the center, hexagonally packed porous template is completed.

Background/Aims: Recent genome-wide analyses have provided strong evidence concerning adverse events caused by thiopurine drugs such as azathioprine (AZA) and 6-mercaptopurine. The strong associations identified between NUDT15 p.Arg139Cys and thiopurine-induced leukopenia and severe hair loss have been studied and confirmed over the last 2 years. However, other coding variants, including NUDT15 p.Val18_Val19insGlyVal, NUDT15 p.Val18Ile, and FTO p.Ala134Thr, and a noncoding variation in RUNX1 (rs2834826) remain to be examined in detail in this respect. Therefore, we investigated the correlation between these adverse events and the 5 recently identified variants mentioned above among Japanese patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). Methods: One hundred sixty thiopurine-treated patients with IBD were enrolled. Genotyping was performed using TaqMan SNP Genotyping Assays or Sanger sequencing. Results: None of the 5 variants were associated with gastrointestinal intolerance to AZA. However, NUDT15 p.Arg139Cys was significantly associated with the interval between initiation and discontinuation of AZA among patients with gastrointestinal intolerance. This variant was strongly associated with early (<8 weeks) and late (≥8 weeks) leukopenia and severe hair loss. Moreover, it correlated with the interval between initiation of thiopurine therapy and leukopenia occurrence, and average thiopurine dose. NUDT15 p.Val18_Val19insGlyVal, NUDT15 p.Val18Ile, FTO p.Ala134Thr, and RUNX1 rs2834826 exhibited no significant relationship with the adverse events examined. Conclusions: Of the 5 variants investigated, NUDT15 p.Arg139Cys had the strongest impact on thiopurineinduced leukopenia and severe hair loss; therefore, its genotyping should be prioritized over that of other variants in efforts to predict these adverse events in Japanese patients with IBD. Paolo Mele,Hiroyuki Kamei,Hiroyuki Yasumune,Kaname Matsumoto,Koji MIYAZAKI 대한금속·재료학회 2014 METALS AND MATERIALS International Vol.20 No.2
Ca3Co4O9 (p-type) and Zn0.98Al0.02O (n-type) pellets were prepared by conventional sintering (CS) and SparkPlasma sintering (SPS) starting from the oxides. The best p-type sample was SPS Ca3Co4O9 obtained frompre-sintered pellets, with electrical conductivity σ = 144 S/cm and Seebeck coefficient S = 172 μV/K at800 °C, while thermal conductivity κ = 2.00 W/m×K and figure of merit ZT = 0.23. The best n-type samplewas CS Zn0.98Al0.02O showing σ = 83 S/cm and S = -268 μV/K at 800 °C, while κ = 5.03 W/m×K andZT = 0.127. The output power of a module based on SPS Ca3Co4O9 and CS Zn0.98Al0.02O legs was 2.26 mW(with T = 500 °C, ΔT = 248 °C).

Black tea is a popular beverage worldwide. Theaflavins (TFs), which are active functional components of black tea, are potentially valuable for preventing and/or treating the progression of periodontal diseases. Our previous pilot study showed that TF intake decreases the number of Porphyromonas gingivalis (P. gingivalis) bacteria in the saliva. In this study, we aimed to determine whether TF intake improves periodontal disease attributed to oral bacteria in a randomized, placebo-controlled, and double-blind study. A total of 56 healthy subjects without periodontal diseases were enrolled and assigned to the placebo and TF groups (n = 28). TF intake for 6 weeks did not significantly alter the clinical evaluation of subjects. There was no significant adverse effect among the subjects. The number of P. gingivalis and Fusobacterium nucleatum (F. nucleatum) bacteria, which was the primary endpoint in this study, was not impacted by TF intake. The change ratio of Prevotella intermedia was significantly decreased by TF intake (P = .043) when compared with the placebo group. Collectively, our findings suggest that TFs have beneficial effects on oral bacteria for the prevention of periodontal disease. The study protocol was registered in the University Hospital Medical Information Network (UMIN000020049).
