This paper attempts to formalize some of the phenomena observed in pragmatically motivated suffixation of the accusative marker in Korean. Replacing the case marker on the indirect object, the causee, and the possessor with the accusative is explicated as the assignment of the patient role in role structure, which represents the cognitive contents of events and the cognitive status of the participants. Replacing a postposition with the accusative is analyzed as an instance of transitivization in function-argument structure, which represents the logical structure of sentences and consists of semantic categories such as argument and proposition. Other cases in which the accusative is optionally added, which results in emphasizing the host, may require an explanation in a separate module related to discourse-function or information structure. The theoretical framework implemented in this paper is called automodular grammar, which takes the view that grammar consists of independently and simultaneously generated modules that are associated through the lexicon. <P>The purpose of this study was to improve the speech processing strategy for cochlear implants (CIs) based on a nonlinear time-varying filter model of a biological cochlea. The level-dependent frequency response characteristic of the basilar membrane is known to produce robust formant representation and speech perception in noise. A dual resonance nonlinear (DRNL) model was adopted because it is simpler than other adaptive nonlinear models of the basilar membrane and can be readily incorporated into the CI speech processor. Spectral analysis showed that formant information is more saliently represented at the output of the proposed CI speech processor compared to the conventional strategy in noisy conditions. Acoustic simulation and hearing experiments showed that the DRNL-based nonlinear strategy improves speech performance in a speech-spectrum-shaped noise.</P>

Real-Time Progress Management System for Steel Structure Construction

<P>Progress management is demanding because of the volume of information exchanged among the various parties involved in a project. In particular, steel structures for high-rise construction projects are among the major work items that require more intensive progress management. This research aims at developing a real-time progress management system through an automated module for scheduling estimates and using an RFID system for real-time construction progress. We propose a new technique that preconstruction engineers can use to build a schedule estimation using 3D-CAD and a Database. By using these tools, engineers can visualize then analyze real-time, actual construction progress with on-site RFID and robot systems. The real-time progress management system developed in this study maintains the continuity of the information from 3D design, the accuracy of lists of materials, the automation of expected progress, and the management of actual progress.</P>

Aim Robots are able to increase safety for pharmacy staff as separating from toxicity of anti-cancer drugs. For patient safety, it would provide right dose of the drugs. Additionally, it can reduce price of the drugs. Therefore, in this study, a novel compounding anticancer drugs robot system (Dupalro) was developed. Methods We used the robot system, Motoman dual-arm robot from YASKAWA, Japan and medications which are adapted for the robot were constructed. In order to develop a process of compounding anticancer drugs, information about five medications that are required to make anticancer drugs in hospitals was used. Results System for the five types of medications was constructed, and relating procedures for anticancer drugs compounding robot were developed. Conclusion Dupalro successfully was able to not only provide incremental safety and efficiency for both patients and pharmacy staff, but also decrease price of anticancer drugs.
