This paper aims to research ethnic identity of a Korean-American family using MCA (membership categorization analysis) of Sacks (1992) in their discursive conversations. The participants signal their ethnic identities by categorizing addressee, themselves and third person referents. A positioning process is involved in the categorization with various discursive identities (Goffman, 1981), such as speaker, hearer and third person referent and also with a variety of social identities, such as a woman, mother, and Korean or American. Sacks (1972, 1979, 1992) divided the MCA into two in that identities are established in part through MCD (membership categorization devices) that serve to characterize a participant as a member of a certain social group, and through CBA (category-bound activities), which categorize participants indirectly by indexing typical activities bound to categorizations. Participants utilize labeling that is the discursive practice of producing explicit membership categorizations that are locally occasioned in talks. A category occurred in an interaction assigns a person to a particular social group. In fact, speakers exhibit their attitudes toward ethnicity in question by categorizing and describing ethnic characteristics and stances, and allude category terms through indirectly indexing membership categories. As immigrants encountered with difficulties to maintain their ethnic identity, assimilation takes its toll on one hand. Resistance, however, to the cultural pressure of the resident country leads them to have a unique type of ethnic identity on the other hand. This article examines how a Korean family employs MCD and CBA as self-representation for identities-in-practices. I will illustrate how, in conjunction with other resources, the participants show their identities in talk as a device which represents membership categories.

<P>We report the design of the KRISS watt balance, which includes a magnet, a guiding stage and a coil position measurement system. The KRISS watt balance incorporates a closed-type cylindrical permanent magnet and a motion guiding stage. For the magnet, a flux shunt is used to reduce flux changes due to temperature variations. A piston gauge is used to achieve linearity in the motion guiding stage. In the weighing mode, the residual force between the weight of the test mass and the Lorentz force generated in a coil is measured by a commercial weighing cell. In the dynamic mode, a linear motor in the motion guiding stage vertically translates the coil and the weighing cell. The in-plane motion of the coil is measured by position sensors, and the out-of-plane motion is measured by single-pass homodyne interferometers.</P>

본 논문은 PSD와 이종 센서 융합을 이용한 상대 항법 알고리즘에 대해 기술한다. 추종 시스템(Chaser)과 목표 시스템(Target) 간의 상대 항법을 수행하기 위해 하드웨어 시스템을 구축하고 알고리즘을 설계하여 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 이를 통해 상대 거리에 따른 오차 발생 경향을 확인하여 이종 센서 융합에 대한 분석을 수행하였다. 이후 구축한 하드웨어 시스템으로 지상 시험 환경을 구성하여 측정값을 획득하고 이를 후처리하여 상대 항법 알고리즘의 성능을 최종적으로 확인하였다. This paper describes a relative navigation algorithm using PSD(Position Sensitive Detector) and heterogeneous sensor fusion. In order to perform relative navigation between a target and a chaser, a hardware system is constructed and simulations are conducted, using the relative navigation algorithm considering the hardware system. By analyzing errors through the simulations, advantages of using the heterogeneous sensor fusion are found. Finally, navigation performance is verified under an experimental environment established to obtain sensor data from the hardware system for data post-processing.

Caffeine, a natural stimulant, is known to be effective for weight loss. Based on this, we screened the arousal-inducing effect of five dietary supplements with a weight loss effect, of which the G. cambogia peel extract (GC) showed a significant arousal-inducing effect in the pentobarbital-induced sleep test in mice. This characteristic of GC was further evaluated by analysis of electroencephalogram and electromyogram in C57BL/6N mice, and it was compared to that of the positive control, caffeine. GC (1500 mg/kg) significantly increased wakefulness and decreased non-rapid eye movement sleep, similar to that of caffeine (25 mg/kg), with GC and caffeine showing a significant increase in wakefulness at 2 and 6 h, respectively. Compared to that of caffeine, the shorter duration of efficacy of GC could be advantageous because of the lower possibility of sleep disturbance. The arousal-inducing effects of GC (1500 mg/kg) and caffeine (25 mg/kg) persisted throughout the chronic administration period (3 weeks). This study, for the first time, revealed the arousal-inducing effect of GC. Our findings suggest that GC might be a promising natural stimulant with no side effects.
