Pickling wastewater generated from stainless steel manufacturing contains high concentration of spent acids and mixutre of some valuable metals. This research focused on the separation and recovery of nickel value from the spent pickling waste which is composed of nitric and fluoric acids and ferrous iron. First, pickling waste was treated with anion exchange column to separate metal mixture from the acid anions. Then, the metal mixture was passed through a continuous cementation unit packed with a bed of zero valent iron powder, in which Ni²+ was reduced to metallic nickel due to the oxidation of Fe0 to Fe²+. Therefore, Fe²+was enriched in aqueous phase and, meanwhile, nickel was accumulated as metallic Ni0.
