This paper is intended to study 〈Jumong Myth〉 which's written by many writers newly. It seems to me that there are characters which are represented images of Jumong and Yoohwa in 〈Jumong Myth〉 in their works. First of all, it seems that they showed aspects of Jumong or Yoohwa as the Hero of the founder or the Hero's supporter of wisdom in their poems 『Dongmaeng』 and 『The Four Pillars and Eight Characters of Go, Ju-mong as the founder of Goguryeo Dongmyeongsungwang』by Seo, Jeong-ju, 『Lady Yoohwa』by Song Su-kwon and 『The sky of Jumong』 by Yoon Keum-cho. Only Seo‘s characters are expressed a destiny and a right but Song and Yoon's are represented the Hero itself in the narrative process through agony of realities. The secondly, it seems that Lee, Kwang-su showed aspects of Jumong as a so n?a husband?a father through the life of the Hero in his work 『Dongmyeongwang of love』. And Song Ha-chun showed aspects of Yoohwa in 〈Jumong Myth〉 through a woman as a unusual birth of process and preservation of life in his work 『Daughters of Haback』. In conclusion, it seems that their works either poems or novels are represented and recreated various images of Jumong and Yoohwa in 〈Jumong Myth〉.

Protective Effect of Curcumin and Aqueous Extract of Onchengyeum on CCl_(4)-induced Hepatotoxicity

An aqueous extract of oriental herbal composition named Onchengyeum and curcumin, an antioxidant isolated from turmeric (Curcuma longa Linné) reduced hepatotoxicity induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl_(4)). Improved liver function was observed by measuring the activities of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine (CRE), total cholesterol (TCHO), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-CHO), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-CHO), total protein (TP), albumin (ALB) and total bilirubin (BIL) in serum. Hepatic parameters monitored were levels of cholesterol (CHO), triglyceride (TG), malondialdehyde (MDA) and content of cytochrome P450 (CYP), level of glutathione (GSH), activities of NADPH-CYP reductase, superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione S-transferase (GST), glutathione reductase (GR), glutathione peroxidase (GPx). The histopathological examination showed that the treatment of Onchengyeum and curcumin relieved the ballooning degeneration of hepatocytes which had been generated by CCl_(4). The results suggested that hepatoprotective effects of Onchengyeum and curcumin possibly are due to their promising antioxidative activity.

Iridology, developed more than 100 years ago, is the diagnosis of medical conditions through noting irregularities of the pigmentation in the iris The purpose of this study is to compare interrelation between CVA, hypertension family history and cardio-renal connective tissue in Iris Constitution through iris constitution examination. The subjects consist of 114 patients who were examined in Iris Constitution at Chonju Oriental Medicine Hospital attached to Wonkwang Univ. from September. 1St. 2000 to August. 31th. 2002. 1. In the distribution of Iris Constitution, among of 79cases, There are neurogenic type 13cases, abdominal connective tissue weakness constitution 31 cases, cardio-renal connective tissue weakness constitution 6 cases, cholesterol 7 cases and others 22 case in control group. 2. There are familial history of CVA and hypertention 32 cases, no familial history of CVA and hypertention1 3 cases, in 35cases of experimental group. These results imply that there is meaningfulness of interrelation between cardio-renal connective tissue weakness constitution and. CVA, hypertention.

도시 및 농촌지역 노인들의 건강 상태에 대한 비교조사 연구

This study was conducted to investigate and compare the health status of elderly people in an urban and a rural area. The subjects were selected in convenient sampling and totalled 300(urban:150, rural:150). The data were collected through individual interviews, during the periods of Sept. 30, 1995(Koje), and Oct. 1-30, 1997(Pusan). The tool developed for this study was a structured questionnaire based on previous literature. Data analysis included percentage, average, S.D., X^(2)-test, t-test. The results were as follows; 1. In comparison of the health behavior of elderly in urban and rural areas, there were statistically significant variables in their health behavior; smoking, drinking, regular exorcise, sleeping time. 2. In a comparison of the prevalences of chronic disease in the elderly in urban and rural areas, those of rural elderly in hypertension, coronary heart disease, D.M., urine sugar, degenerative arthritis, degenerative neuritis were the higher than those of the urban elderly and it was a statistically significant difference. 3. Of all physical complaints, the rates of the visual acuity(62.6%), backpain(57.0%) and arthralgia(47.0%) were higher in general and the rate of physical complaints in the rural elderly were higher than those of the urban elderly. 4. The self-rating score for health status in urban elderly was higher than that of rural elderly and there was a statistically significant difference. 5. In the comparison of IADL scores between urban and rural, the IADL score of the urban elderly was higher than that of the elderly in the rural area, and there was a statistically significant difference.

豫算理論과 豫算改革

Therefore, in the age of globalization, budget reform is necessary for enhancing the national competitiveness. The purpose of this paper is to suggest the options for fiscal reform in the Republic of Korea. For such purpose, this paper reviewed various budget theories necessary for designing the options for budget reform and then investigated the options for budget reform with respect to budgeting systems and budgetary process.

수입 캐주얼 상표태도에 따른 소비자유형화와 상표이미지 및 의복만족도에 관한 연구

The purposes of this study were to categorize consumer type according to attitudes toward imported casual brands, to identify the imported brand image according to casual brand class, and to examine satisfaction on the imported casual brands. 520 females aged between 20 to 29 in Pusan responded to the questionnaire of consumer's attitudes, brand image and purchasing behavior of imported casual brands. The data collected self-administered questionnaire were analysed using cluster analysis, paired t-test, and ANOVA. The results were as follows : 1. Subjects were divided into 2 types(preference type-non-preferece type) according to consumer attitudes toward imported casual brands. 2. Subjects had unique, fashionable image for imported character casual brands, whereas imported jean casual brands have free, modern, civilized brand image. 3. The consumers who purchased imported brands recently evaluated imported casual brands have good performance. In conclusion, consumers' attitude toward imported casual brands was determined by consumer preference, and imported casual brand loyalty was influenced by product quality not brand halo effect.

만성 치근단주위 병소조직의 Arachidonic acid 대사에 관한 연구

This study was executed to measure the biosynthesis of arachidonic acid metabolic products in chronic periapical lesions, to compare the products among periapical granuloma, periapical cyst and chronic periapical abscess, and to understand the pathogensis of chronic periapical lesions. Tissues from 33 chronic periapical lesions of human teeth were enucleated during endodontic surgery. Large part of each tissue was contained in liquid nitrogen immediately and the other was examined histologically. In histologically diagnosed 8 cases of periapical granuloma, 9 cases of periapical cyst and 8 cases of chronic periapical adscess, the tissues were homogenated and incubated with ^14C-arachidonic acid. Lipid solvent extracts were separated by thin layer chromatography to be analyzed by autoradiography and TLC analyzer. 1. TXB_2, 6-keto-PGF_1α and PGE_2, LTB_4, HETEs, and unidentified product which are metabolic products of arachidonic acid were measured in the tissues of chronic peripaical lesions. 2. In all of periapical granuloma, cyst and abscess, the conversion rate of HETEs among all products was the highest(P<0.05), and the percentage of HETEs in total converted products was also the highest (P<0.05). 3. The concentration of each arachidonic acid product was higher in chronic periapical abscess than in periapical granuloma and cyst(P<0.05). The concentration of TXB_2 and HETEs in periapical cyst were higher than that in periapical granuloma. 4. The relative amounts of total products from lipoxygenase pathway to those from cyclo-oxygenase pathway were about 7 fold in chronic periapical lesions. There was no difference among periapical granuloma, cyst and abscess(P>0.05). The total amount of products from each pathway were higher in chronic periapical abscess than in perapical cyst and granuloma.

退溪와 栗谷의 工夫論 比較 硏究 : 『聖學十圖』와 『聖學輯要』를 중심으로

This study aims to compare between the theory of kung-fu(工夫) of T'oegye(退溪) and that of Yulgok(栗谷), focusing on T'oegye's <<Sunghaksipdo>>(聖學十圖, The learning to become a sage with ten drawings) and Yulgok's <<Sunghakzipyo>>(聖學輯要, The intensive collection of doctrines for learning to become a sage) which are both's representative writings for kung-fu. As a result of the investigation, in the discussion of the object and scope of kung-fu, Yi Hwang proposed the theory of Kung-fu centered on the aspect of hsiu-chi(修己, self-cultivation), while Yulgok raising the theory of Kung-fu emphasizing the aspect of chih-jen(治人, educational and political influence upon others) as well as hsiu-chi. Then, in the discussion of the method of kung-fu, while both T'oegye and that of Yulgok succeeding to the methodology of kung-fu of Chu Hsi(朱熹), T'oegye emphasized the ching(敬) as the fundamental attitude or fundamental kung-fu, and Yulgok raised the concept of cheng(誠) as the fundamental factor of kung-fu in addition to ching. From the theory of kung-fu of T'oegye and that of Yulgok, the important and diverse streams of the theory of kung-fu emerged since then in Cho-sun(朝鮮) period.
