Sorption kinetics of sulphate ions on quaternary ammonium-modified rice straw

        Wei Cao,Zhi Dang,Bao-Ling Yuan,Chun-Hua Shen,Jin Kan,Xiu-Ling Xue 한국공업화학회 2014 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.20 No.4

Batch sorption experiments with variable concentration of sulphate and temperature were conducted to investigate sorption kinetics of sulphate ions on quaternary ammonium-modified rice straw (QMRS). Kinetic data were discussed with pseudo first- and second-order rate equations and diffusion models. The results showed the sorption equilibrium time is about 20 min and the activated energy Ea is 19.3 kJ/mol. Increase of temperature and initial sulphate concentration favored sorption process. The sorption kinetics followed pseudo second-order rate equation, and the overall rate was determined by film diffusion. Additionally, characterization by 13C NMR and EDS confirmed the presence of quaternary ammonium groups in QMRS.

EFFECTS OF ALTITUDE ON COMBUSTION CHARACTERISTIC DURING COLD START OF HEAVY-DUTY DIESEL ENGINE

        Z. C. KAN,D. M. LOU,Z. Z. CAO,Z. Y. HU,S. LIU,Z. H. YANG 한국자동차공학회 2017 International journal of automotive technology Vol.18 No.2

Altitude has a significant effect on combustion of heavy-duty diesel engines, especially during cold start. An experimental study on a heavy-duty diesel engine operating at different altitudes was conducted. Tests were based on a direct injection (DI) turbocharged diesel engine with intake and exhaust pressure controlled by the plateau simulation test system to stimulate altitude conditions including 0 m, 1000 m, 2000 m, 3000 m and 4000 m. Results indicated that the compression and expansion resistance moment reduced and the speed increased during the cranking period. The peak pressure of several cycles was increased during the start-up period; however, the expansion pressure dropped more and the indicated mean effective pressure (IMEP) reduced as the altitude rose. While at an altitude of over 2000 m, the peak pressure fluctuated obviously during the start-up period. The higher the altitude was, the more the fluctuation amplitude and cycle number increased and combustion instability enhanced, which resulted the start-up period time increasing at high altitude. When the altitude rose, the cycle-to-cycle variation of the peak pressure and speed fluctuation increased during the idle, the ignition and CA50 were delayed and the combustion duration was shortened. The effect of altitude on combustion characteristics of the diesel engine was more significant during the start-up period than during its idle period.

TRAFFIC FLOW FORECASTING OF GRAPH CONVOLUTIONAL NETWORK BASED ON SPATIO-TEMPORAL ATTENTION MECHANISM

        Zhang Hong,Chen Linlong,Cao Jie,Zhang Xijun,Kan Sunan,Zhao Tianxin 한국자동차공학회 2023 International journal of automotive technology Vol.24 No.4

Accurate traffic flow forecasting is a prerequisite guarantee for the realization of intelligent transportation. Due to the complex time and space features of traffic flow, its forecasting has always been a research hotspot in this field. Aiming at the difficulty of capturing and modelling the temporal and spatial correlation and dynamic features of traffic flow, this paper proposes a novel graph convolutional network traffic flow forecasting model (STAGCN) based on the temporal and spatial attention mechanism. STAGCN model is mainly composed of three modules: Spatio-temporal Attention (STA-Block), Graph Convolutional Network (GCN) and Standard Convolutional Network (CN), model the periodicity, spatial correlation and time dependence of traffic flow respectively. STA-Block module models the spatio-temporal correlation between different time steps through the spatio-temporal attention mechanism and gating fusion mechanism, and uses GCN and CN to capture the spatial and temporal features of traffic flow respectively. Finally, the output of the three components is predicted through a gated fusion mechanism. A large number of experiments have been conducted on two data sets of PeMS. The experimental results demonstrate that compared with the baseline method, the STAGCN model proposed in this paper has better forecasting performance.

Reliability Evaluation Technique for Electrical Distribution Networks Considering Planned Outages

Hu, Bo,He, Xiao-Hui,Cao, Kan The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers 2014 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.9 No.5

The reliability evaluation of the electrical distribution networks (EDN) requires sufficient consideration of the effects of planned outages. The planned outages of the EDN can be divided, by outage models and their effects on the reliability into two major categories: by equipment and by feeder. After studying the characteristics of different categories of planned outages, this paper expands the classification of load points by outage time from 4 types to 7 types and defines corresponding reliability parameters for the different types. By using the section algorithm, this paper proposes a reliability evaluation technique of EDN considering equipment random failures and two categories of planned outages. The proposed technique has been applied to the RBTS-BUS6 test system and some practical EDNs in China. The study results demonstrate that the proposed technique is of higher practical value and can be used for evaluating the reliability performance of EDN more efficiently considering the planned outages.

Scaling Inter-domain Routing System via Path Exploration Aggregation

( Xiaoqiang Wang ),( Peidong Zhu ),( Xicheng Lu ),( Kan Chen ),( Huayang Cao ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2013 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.7 No.3

One of the most important scalability issues facing the current Internet is the rapidly increasing rate of BGP updates (BGP churn), to which route flap and path exploration are the two major contributors. Current countermeasures would either cause severe reachability loss or delay BGP convergence, and are becoming less attractive for the rising concern about routing convergence as the prevalence of Internet-based real time applications. Based on the observation that highly active prefixes usually repeatedly explore very few as-paths during path exploration, we propose a router-level mechanism, Path Exploration Aggregation (PEA), to scale BGP without either causing prefix unreachable or slowing routing convergence. PEA performs aggregation on the transient paths explored by a highly active prefix, and propagates the aggregated path instead to reduce the updates caused by as-path changes. Moreover, in order to avoid the use of unstable routes, PEA purposely prolongs the aggregated path via as-path prepending to make it less preferred in the perspective of downstream routers. With the BGP traces obtained from RouteViews and RIPE-RIS projects, PEA can reduce BGP updates by up to 63.1%, shorten path exploration duration by up to 53.3%, and accelerate the convergence 7.39 seconds on average per routing event.

Elevated Expression of RIOK1 Is Correlated with Breast Cancer Hormone Receptor Status and Promotes Cancer Progression

        Zhiqi Huang,Xingyu Li,Tian Xie,Changjiang Gu,Kan Ni,Qingqing Yin,Xiaolei Cao,Chunhui Zhang 대한암학회 2020 Cancer Research and Treatment Vol.52 No.4

Purpose RIOK1 has been proved to play an important role in cancer cell proliferation and migration in various types of cancers—such as colorectal and gastric cancers. However, the expression of RIOK1 in breast cancer (BC) and the relationship between RIOK1 expression and the development of BC are not well characterized. In this study, we assessed the expression of RIOK1 in BC and evaluated the mechanisms underlying its biological function in this disease context. Materials and Methods We used immunohistochemistry, western blot and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction to evaluate the expression of RIOK1 in BC patients. Then, knockdown or overexpression of RIOK1 were used to evaluate the effect on BC cells in vitro and in vivo. Finally, we predicted miR-204-5p could be a potential regulator of RIOK1. Results We found that the expression levels of RIOK1 were significantly higher in hormone receptor (HR)–negative BC patients and was associated with tumor grades (p=0.010) and p53 expression (p=0.008) and survival duration (p=0.011). Kaplan-Meier analysis suggested a tendency for the poor prognosis. In vitro, knockdown of RIOK1 could inhibit proliferation, invasion, and induced apoptosis in HR-negative BC cells and inhibited tumorigenesis in vivo, while overexpression of RIOK1 promoted HR-positive tumor progression. MiR-204-5p could regulate RIOK1 expression and be involved in BC progression. Conclusion These findings indicate that RIOK1 expression could be a biomarker of HR-negative BC, and it may serve as an effective prognostic indicator and promote BC progression.
