Study of minerals and selected environmentally sensitive elements in Kapurdi lignites of Barmer Basin, Rajasthan, western India: implications to environment

        Pramod K. Rajak,Vijay K. Singh,Asha L. Singh,Narendra Kumar,Om P. Kumar,Vishvajeet Singh,Aniruddha Kumar,Rai Ankita,Shweta Rai,Amiya S. Naik,Prakash K. Singh 한국지질과학협의회 2020 Geosciences Journal Vol.24 No.4

The present study is an attempt to know the temporal and spatial distribution of geochemical components in the lignite deposit of Kapurdi, Barmer Basin (Rajasthan). Lignite samples have been subjected to proximate, ultimate and elemental analyses, and determination of mineral carbon (MINC%). Besides, various minerals and functional groups have been analyzed through X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Selected environmentally sensitive and potential hazardous elements like Cu, Cd, Zn, Ni, Cr, Pb, Mn, Al, Fe and Co are determined using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). To know the association of minerals with organic matter, scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) has also been carried out. The concentration of Co, Ni, Cd, Pb, Na, and K is high when compared with world average and is main concern for the environmental and health hazards. The elements like Fe, Ca, Mg, Zn, and Pb have shown increasing trend from top to bottom of the lignite seam with some fluctuations in the values in few bands whereas others do not follow a definite trend of variation along the seam profile.

      • Microwave-Assisted Synthesis of Boron and Nitrogen co-doped Reduced Graphene Oxide for the Protection of Electromagnetic Radiation in Ku-Band

        Umrao, Sima,Gupta, Tejendra K.,Kumar, Shiv,Singh, Vijay K.,Sultania, Manish K.,Jung, Jung Hwan,Oh, Il-Kwon,Srivastava, Anchal American Chemical Society 2015 ACS APPLIED MATERIALS & INTERFACES Vol.7 No.35

<P>The electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding of reduced graphene oxide (MRG), B-doped MRG (BMRG), N-doped MRG (N-MRG), and B-N co-doped MRG (B-N-MRG) have been studied in the Ku-band frequency range (12.8-18 GHz). We have developed a green, fast, and cost-effective microwave assisted route for synthesis of doped MRG. B-N-MRG shows high electrical conductivity in comparison to MRG, B-MRG and N-MRG, which results better electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding ability. The co-doping of B and N significantly enhances the electrical conductivity of MRG from 21.4 to 124.4 Sm-1 because N introduces electrons and B provides holes in the system and may form a nanojunction inside the material. Their temperature-dependent electrical conductivity follows 2D-variable range hopping (2D-VRH) and Efros-Shldovskii-VRH (ES-VRH) conduction model in a low temperature range (T < 50 K). The spatial configuration of MRG after doping of B and N enhances the space charge polarization, natural resonance, dielectric polarization, and trapping of EM waves by internal reflection leading to a high EMI shielding of -42 dB (-99.99% attenuation) compared to undoped MR.G (-28 dB) at a critical thickness of 1.2 mm. Results suggest that the B-N-MRG has great potential as a candidate for a new type of EMI shielding material useful in aircraft, defense industries, communication systems, and stealth technology.</P>

New Generalized SVPWM Algorithm for Multilevel Inverters

Kumar, A. Suresh,Gowri, K. Sri,Kumar, M. Vijay The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2018 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.18 No.4

In this paper a new generalized space vector pulse width modulation scheme is proposed based on the principle of reverse mapping to drive the switches of multilevel inverters. This projected scheme is developed based on the middle vector of the subhexagon which holds the tip of the reference vector, which plays a major role in mapping the reference vector. A new approach is offered to produce middle vector of the subhexagon which holds tip of the reference vector in the multilevel space vector plane. By using middle vector of the subhexagon, reference vector is linked towards the inner two level sub-hexagon. Then switching vectors, switching sequence and dwell times corresponding to a particular sector of a two-level inverter are determined. After that, by using the two level stage findings, the switching vectors related to exact position of the reference vector are directly generated based on principle of the reverse mapping approach and do not need to be found at n level stage. In the reverse mapping principle, the middle vector of subhexagon is added to the formerly found two level switching vectors. The proposed generalized algorithm is efficient and it can be applied to an inverter of any level. In this paper, the proposed scheme is explained for a five-level inverter and the performance is analyzed for five level and three level inverters through MATLAB. The simulation results are validated by implementing the propose scheme on a V/f controlled three-level inverter fed induction motor using dSPACE control desk.

In vitro Plant Regeneration of Non-toxic Jatropha curcas L.: Direct Shoot Organogenesis from Cotyledonary Petiole Explants

        Kumar, Nitish,Anand, K.G. Vijay,Reddy, Muppala P. 한국작물학회 2010 Journal of crop science and biotechnology Vol.13 No.3

Jatropha curcas, the energy plant has attained great attention in recent years because of its biodiesel production potential; however, oil and deoiled cakes are toxic. A non-toxic variety of J. curcas is reported from Mexico. A simple and efficient protocol has been developed for plant regeneration using cotyledonary petiole explants of non-toxic variety of J. curcas. The percentage of induction of shoot buds (59.11%), and the number of shoot buds (5.01) per explant was achieved on Murashige and Skoog's (MS) medium supplemented with $2.27\;{\mu}M$ thidiazuron (TDZ). These induced shoot buds multiplied when subcultured on MS medium supplemented with $10\;{\mu}M$ kinetin (Kn), $4.5\;{\mu}M$ 6-benzyl aminopurine (BAP), and $5.5\;{\mu}M$ $\alpha$-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) for 4 weeks and subsequent elongation achieved on MS medium supplemented with $2.25\;{\mu}M$ BAP and $8.5\;{\mu}M$ indole-3-acetic acid (IAA). Shoots more than 2 cm long were harvested and cultured on MS medium containing different concentrations and combinations of IBA, IAA, NAA, and $0.25\;mg\;L^{-1}$ activated charcoal, and 19.91% rooting was achieved in $15\;{\mu}M$ IBA, $5.7\;{\mu}M$ IAA, and $16.5\;{\mu}M$ NAA after 4 weeks with more than 90% survival rate.

        Photoluminescence investigation on ultraviolet–emitting Ce3+, Mg2+-ions-doped/co-doped CaAl12O19 phosphors

        Singh, Vijay,Singh, N.,Dubey, Vikas,Singh, Pramod K.,Shinde, K.N.,Ravi Kanth Kumar, V.V. Elsevier 2018 OPTIK -STUTTGART- Vol.158 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Ce3+-doped CaAl12O19 phosphors with different Ce3+ contents, as well as those with Mg2+ codoped powders, were successfully synthesized using a rapid combustion method (<5 min) for this paper. The powders were well characterized by the X-ray diffraction (XRD) and photoluminescence (PL) techniques. The emission measurements upon a UV-light excitation (262 nm) showed the emission characteristics of the Ce3+ ion that are due to the 5d–4 f transitions. The emission and excitation spectra were recorded as the Ce3+ concentration was kept constant and the Mg2+ concentration was varied. It became evident that the addition of the Mg2+ along with the Ce3+ resulted in increases of the PL intensity, and the reasons for this behavior are discussed.</P>

Autologous Conditioned Serum as a Novel Alternative Option in the Treatment of Unilateral Lumbar Radiculopathy: A Prospective Study

        Ravi Kumar H. S.,Vijay G Goni,Batra Y. K. 대한척추외과학회 2015 Asian Spine Journal Vol.9 No.6

Study Design: The study was conducted on patients who received autologous conditioned serum (ACS) as a line of treatment at the Orthopedics outpatient department of Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER, Chandigarh) from January 2011 to June 2012. Of the 1,224 patients, 20 males or females were included in the study based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The institutional board of PGIMER approved the study before it was initiated. Purpose: To study the efficacy of ACS in the treatment of unilateral lumbar radiculopathy. Overview of Literature: Interleukin (IL)-1 appears to be of special importance among the cytokines identified in orthopedic diseases. ACS contains high concentrations of IL-1 receptor antagonist, antagonist to IL-1 in that is a biochemical ‘sensitizer’ of nerve roots in radiculopathy. Methods: We included 20 patients with unilateral lumbar radiculopathy after obtaining informed consent. We prepared ACS as described by Meijer et al. Under bi-planar fluoroscopic imaging in anterior-posterior and lateral views, ACS was administered via epidural perineural technique. Patients in both groups were evaluated by quadruple visual analogue scale, straight leg raising test, revised Oswestry disability index, and 12-Item Short Form of Health Survey before and after epidural injections at 3 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months. Results: There was a statistically significant change in all parameters from pre-injection to first, second, and third follow-up (p <0.001). Conclusions: ACS can modify the disease course in addition to reducing pain, disability and improving general health.

A study of PO-$\Gamma$-semigroups in terms of anti fuzzy ideals

        T. Nagaiah,K. Vijay Kumar,P. Narasimha Swamy,T. Srinivas 원광대학교 기초자연과학연구소 2017 ANNALS OF FUZZY MATHEMATICS AND INFORMATICS Vol.14 No.3

The notions of anti fuzzy ideals, bi-ideals and interior ideals of Partially Ordered $\Gamma$-Semigroups(PO$\Gamma$S) have been proposed in this paper. We characterize some properties of PO$\Gamma$S in terms of anti fuzzy ideals (AFI). We obtain equivalent statements on composition of AFI using the characteristic function and anti fuzzy bi-ideal(AFBI). Also we study the relationship between anti fuzzy product and union of AFI in a PO$\Gamma$S. Finally, we deliberate the necessary and sufficient condition of PO-$\Gamma$-semigroups.
