In a previous report, we identified several candidate antimicrobial peptides through de novo RNA sequencing of the centipede Scolopendra subspinipes mutilans . Here, we identify and characterize one of these peptides, Scolopendrasin I. We identified the centipede antimicrobial peptide Cecropin from the centipede transcriptome using an SVM algorithm, and subsequently analyzed the amino acid sequence for predicted secondary structure using a GOR algorithm. We identified an alpha helical region of Cecropin and named it Scolopendrasin I. We then assessed antimicrobial and hemolytic activity of Scolopendrasin I. Scolopendrasin I showed antimicrobial activity against various microbes, including antibiotic-resistant Gram-negative bacteria, in a radial diffusion assay. Scolopendrasin I had potent antibacterial activity against acne-associated microbes in a colony count assay and showed no hemolytic activity in a hemolysis assay. In addition, we confirmed that Scolopendrasin I bound to the surface of bacteria via a specific interaction with lipoteichoic acid and lipopolysaccharide, two components of bacterial cell membranes. In conclusion, the results presented here provide evidence that this is an efficient strategy for antimicrobial peptide candidate identification and that Scolopendrasin I has potential for successful antibiotic development.
튜머로이드-혈관신생 상호작용의 가시화를 위한 개방형 구조 미세유체 칩 개발

Cancer cells secrete angiogenic factors, and nearby vasculatures make new blood vessels essential for cancer development and metastasis in response to these soluble factors. Many efforts have been made to elucidate cancer-endothelial cell interactions in vitro. However, not much is known due to the lack of a suitable co-culture platform. Here, we introduce a 3D printing-based microfluidic system that mimics the in vivo-like cancer-endothelial cell interactions. The tumoroids and endothelial cells are co-cultured, physically separated by porous fibrin gel, allowing communication between two cell types through soluble factors. Using this microfluidic system, we were able to visualize new vessel formation induced by tumoroids of different origins, including liver, breast, and ovary. We confirmed that the ovarian tumoroids most induced angiogenesis while the other two cancer types suppressed it. Utilization of the proposed co-culture platform will help the researchers unveil the underlying mechanisms of the dynamic interplay between tumor and angiogenesis.

점차적으로 다양해져 가는 고객의 요구에 따라, 전자산업에 민감한 영향을 받는 엔지니어링 플라스틱 생산체제도 점차 다품종 소량 생산체제로 전환하고 있다. 이에 따라 기업의 내부조직에 있어서 생산성을 우선적으로 고려하는 생산부문과 납기를 우선적으로 고려하는 영업부문과의 생산스케쥴링에 관한 협의업무가 전체 생산성을 저하시키는 요인으로 작용하고 있다. 본 시스템은 생산스케쥴링을 자동적으로 작성함으로써 영업부문에 스케쥴링 능력을 부여함으로써, 생산스케쥴링업무를 단일화하여 양 부문간의 협의업무를 간소화하고 생산부문에서는 생산에만 전력할 수 있도록 하여 전체 생산성을 향상시키는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 시스템의 개발에 있어서 전문가시스템 개발 tool로는 ART-IM을 사용하였고, GUI는 OSF/Motif로 구현하였다.

Data-driven diagnosis systems for journal bearings frequently use vibration data acquired from sensors. However, a small disruption in the system leads to perturbation in the rotating speed, which results in unstable vibration signal. In this research, a datum unit for feature extraction is proposed to embrace a sudden change in vibration data. It presents the angular resampling method, common for ball bearing systems but not for journal bearing systems, and definition of datum for extracting features. The proposed approach enables the raw vibration data to be processed consistently despite the variations in signals, and defines effective cycles for extr acting features. The data is acquired from analytic signal from a calculation program as well as experiment data from journal bearing test-bed. Overall, the increased separability measure values shows that proposed idea is effective and the improved classification result adds reliability in diagnosis system for journal bearings.

The purpose of this study is to explore the causal relationship of Goal Perception, Perceptions of Error, Failure Mindset and Grit. To this end, 388 taekwondo players from University in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon, Chungbuk, and Jeonbuk universities were selected as a sample and using Spss 23 and Amos 23, frequency analysis, skewness, kurtosis, correlation analysis, reliability analysis, CFA factor analysis, multiple regression analysis results were verified. As a result of this study, First, Goal Perception had a significant effect on Grit. Second, Perceptions of Error had a significant effect on Grit. Third, Failure Mindset had a significant effect on Grit. Based on the above results, it will serve as an academic basis for recognizing the importance of positive perception of failure and improving grit by increasing Goal Perception of university taekwondo players.
