The statistical and exact analysis of the unsteady radiative flow of Nano and Casson fluids past a vertical plate with Dufour effect is carried out. The heat transport phenomenon is studied under uniform heat flux (UHF) and uniform wall temperature (UWT) conditions. The exact solution to the problem is found using the Laplace transform method (LTM). The effects of various parameters on velocity, temperature and con-centration profiles are examined via graphs. The heat transfer rate and skin friction are analyzed through statistical tools like probable error and regression. The Dufour effect enhances the velocity and temper-ature profiles. It is also observed that the velocity profile is slightly greater in the case of UWT than the UHF case for both nanofluid and Casson fluid. From the regression analysis, it is established that the Dufour number and nanoparticle volume fraction have a negative impact whereas the radiative heat parameter has a positive impact on the rate of heat transfer.

Abundant improvements have occurred in materials handling, especially in metal joining. Pulsed current gas tungsten arc welding(PCGTAW) is one of the consequential fusion techniques. In this work, PCGTAW of AISI 4135 steel engendered through powder metallurgy(P/M) has been executed, and the process parameters have been highlighted applying Taguchi’s L9 orthogonal array. The resultsshow that the peak current (Ip), gas flow rate (GFR), welding speed (WS) and base current (Ib) are the critical constraints in strong determinantof the Tensile strength (TS) as well as percentage of elongation (% Elong) of the joint. The practical impact of applying Geneticalgorithm (GA) and Simulated annealing (SA) to PCGTAW process has been authenticated by means of calculating the deviationbetween predicted and experimental welding process parameters.

Background: Increased body mass index (BMI) and metabolic syndrome (MetS) have been associated with adverse outcomes in viral syndromes. We sought to examine associations of increased BMI and MetS on several clinical outcomes in patients tested for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Methods: The registry of suspected COVID-19 in emergency care (RECOVER) is an observational study of SARS-CoV-2-tested patients (n=27,051) across 155 United States emergency departments (EDs). We used multivariable logistic regression to test for associations of several predictor variables with various clinical outcomes. Results: We found that a BMI ≥30 kg/m2 increased odds of SARS-CoV-2 test positivity (odds ratio [OR], 1.30; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.23–1.38), while MetS reduced odds of testing positive for SARS-CoV-2 (OR, 0.76; 95% CI, 0.71–0.82). Adjusted multivariable analysis found that MetS was significantly associated with the need for admission (OR, 2.11; 95% CI, 1.89–2.37), intensive care unit (ICU) care (OR, 1.58; 95% CI, 1.40–1.78), intubation (OR, 1.46; 95% CI, 1.28–1.66), mortality (OR, 1.29; 95% CI, 1.13–1.48), and venous thromboembolism (OR, 1.51; 95% CI, 1.07–2.13) in SARS-CoV-2-positive patients. Similarly, BMI ≥40 kg/m2 was significantly associated with ICU care (OR, 1.97; 95% CI, 1.65–2.35), intubation (OR, 2.69; 95% CI, 2.22–3.26), and mortality (OR, 1.50; 95% CI, 1.22–1.84). Conclusion: In this large nationwide sample of ED patients, we report a significant association of both high BMI and composite MetS with poor outcomes in SARS-CoV-2-positive patients. Findings suggest that composite MetS profile may be a more universal predictor of adverse disease outcomes, while the impact of BMI is more heavily modulated by SARS-CoV-2 status.

<P>This paper addresses the dissipativity based resilient sampled-data control problem for a class of stochastic systems with actuator failures. In particular, the controller is assumed to posses probabilistic actuator faults with different failure rates. Moreover, the controller gain fluctuation appears in a random way which obeys certain Bernoulli distributed white noise sequences. A new set of sufficient conditions is obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities for the derivation of resilient dissipative sampled-data controller by constructing an appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional together with free-weighting matrix technique. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune, chronic systemic inflammatory disorder. The long-term use of currently available drugs for the treatment of RA has many potential side effects. Natural phytonutrients may serve as alternative strategies for the safe and effective treatment of RA, and curcuminoids have been used in Ayurvedic medicine for the treatment of inflammatory conditions for centuries. In this study, a novel, highly bioavailable form of curcumin in a completely natural turmeric matrix was evaluated for its ability to improve the clinical symptoms of RA. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, three-arm, parallel-group study was conducted to evaluate the comparative efficacy of two different doses of curcumin with that of a placebo in active RA patients. Twelve patients in each group received placebo, 250 or 500 mg of the curcumin product twice daily for 90 days. The responses of the patients were assessed using the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) response, visual analog scale (VAS), C-reactive protein (CRP), Disease Activity Score 28 (DAS28), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), and rheumatoid factor (RF) values. RA patients who received the curcumin product at both low and high doses reported statistically significant changes in their clinical symptoms at the end of the study. These observations were confirmed by significant changes in ESR, CPR, and RF values in patients receiving the study product compared to baseline and placebo. The results indicate that this novel curcumin in a turmeric matrix acts as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory agent for the management of RA at a dose as low as 250 mg twice daily as evidenced by significant improvement in the ESR, CRP, VAS, RF, DAS28, and ACR responses compared to placebo. Both doses of the study product were well tolerated and without side effects.
A Feasibility Study on the Application of Safety Assessment to the Fishing Vessels

The current paper deals with the safety of fishing vessels, which needs more speculations than other ship types. The characteristics of accidents of fishing vessels are rather different compared with other commercial vessels. In the context, the methodology of the formal safety assessment, one of the important issues in the maritime world to enhance the safety of marine vehicles, are reviewed and consulted along with other methodologies to see its applicability for fishing vessels. It is anticipated that further effective measures for better safety of fishing vessels can be identified including due considerations of the aspect of human elements, i.e. cultural environment.

<P>This brief investigates the problem of passivity-based resilient sampled-data control for Markovian jump systems subject to actuator faults via an adaptive fault-tolerant mechanism. By constructing a proper Lyapunov function, a set of sufficient conditions is obtained in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which ensures that the closed-loop system is stochastically passive. In order to reflect the imprecision in controller, the additive gain variations is considered. Then, the resilient sampled-data control parameters can be determined by solving the obtained LMIs. Finally, an illustrative example is presented to show the validity and applicability of the proposed design technique.</P>

<P>Although 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (22q11DS) is associated with early-life behavioral abnormalities, affected individuals are also at high risk for the development of schizophrenia symptoms, including psychosis, later in life. Auditory thalamocortical (TC) projections recently emerged as a neural circuit that is specifically disrupted in mouse models of 22q11DS (hereafter referred to as 22q11DS mice), in which haploinsufficiency of the microRNA (miRNA)-processing-factor-encoding gene Dgcr8 results in the elevation of the dopamine receptor Drd2 in the auditory thalamus, an abnormal sensitivity of thalamocortical projections to antipsychotics, and an abnormal acoustic-startle response. Here we show that these auditory TC phenotypes have a delayed onset in 22q11DS mice and are associated with an age-dependent reduction of miR-338-3p, a miRNA that targets Drd2 and is enriched in the thalamus of both humans and mice. Replenishing depleted miR-338-3p in mature 22q11DS mice rescued the TC abnormalities, and deletion of Mir338 (which encodes miR-338-3p) or reduction of miR-338-3p expression mimicked the TC and behavioral deficits and eliminated the age dependence of these deficits. Therefore, miR-338-3p depletion is necessary and sufficient to disrupt auditory TC signaling in 22q11DS mice, and it may mediate the pathogenic mechanism of 22q11DS-related psychosis and control its late onset.</P>
